Super Smash Bros Melee 2!!!
« on: April 25, 2003, 06:46:35 PM »
Does anyone else feel like nintendo should be making a sequel to the best four player finghting ever!?!

There are so many things I would like to see.  Not much, just a few more stages, characters, and harder levels and task.  For instance like Wario, Waluigi, Diddy Kong, Mega Man, and Castlevania's main character(don't know name) with some stages to match!  Just a thought I like to share with you guys.  Tell me what you think and give your suggestion.

No one from Mega Man or Castlevania games will be in a Smash Bros. Sorry.

Nintendo published games only - Nothing from Konami or Capcom

But...since SSBM is still pretty much usually in the top 5 selling GCN games every month in all regions of the world....Well Nintendo won't release another one till it's made every last million off of Melee.

And Melee 2? They aren't going to name it melee 2. Call if SSB3 for crying out loud. It's like dumb kids who call Majora's Mask Zelda 2 because they didn't know about anything before the N64 and PS1...

Mega Man and Simon Belmont?  Well, they were both in Captain N.

yea because nintendo got the license to make them into their cartoon show,
and a company is more willing to have their characters put into a cartoon show
then a game made by another company for a few KEY reasons:
1) a cartoon show is like an advertisement for the characters in it
2) a cartoon show introduces people to the characters that they might otherwise
not know of
3) a company is usually not willing to let another company make a game with
their properties (characters) because they may not represent the characters correctly or
not do as good as a job representing the characters

something like soul calibur 2 (having link) is usually a rarity, and Nintendo is allowing
them to do this because they know the makers of the game (know their S**T) and will do a fine job representing Link

SSB is only NINTENDO characters!

they could have megaman and simon belmont but they would have to get the
license for them and it wouldn't make sense because it's a game for NINTENDO
characters not 3rd party ones.

Personally I felt that Super Smash Bros Melee just added so much stuff to the original design and was done so perfectly that there is no need for there to be a sequel any time soon.  The next Smash Bros game should be saved for the next Nintendo console so that it can take advantage of new hardware.  Besides the only thing I can think to add to Smash Bros is online support and there's pretty much no way that's happening on the Gamecube.  They might as well wait until the next console for that.  If they released a second Gamecube Smash Bros it would probably be too similar to Melee and thus would be a huge disappointment.

Nintendo's multiplayer games like Mario Kart, F-Zero, and Smash Bros only need one title per console.  Otherwise you get the Mario Party effect where it's the same sh!t over and over again and the series loses its appeal very quickly.  Mario Party for the Gamecube probably would have been a considerably more anticipated title if Mario Party 2 & 3 hadn't been released for the N64.

A GBA version would sell millions.
But a GCN version with Capcom, Sega etc Characters would also sell millions.
