Customer Service Stories (any console)
« on: April 20, 2004, 05:00:02 PM »
This is to share customer service encounters you've had with various companies,
namely game consoles.  I'll make it short and sweet if I can.

I bought my PS2 in March of 2001, after about a year it stopped playing
any cd-rom games, only played dvd's.  Then it stopped loading dvd's by itself
so you had to use the bowser.  Then in February of this year I got Champions of
Norrath and it worked sometimes, then it stopped working at all, THEN the PS2
only read a few of the dvd games I owned.  So I called Sony CS about it and after
a long time on the phone they agreed to waive the repair fee.  They said it would
take 15-20 days after the technician received the console.  So I sent it out, and
after about 1.5 weeks (not bad) it came back in the mail.  The paper included
said some parts were replaced.  I plugged it in and not one thing was changed,
it still read the same few games and not anything else.  So I called up Sony again
and yelled at them, and asked to talk to their "superior" and she agreed to send
me a refurbished system in exchange for my PS2.  So I sent it out in the mail again
and after about a week, another PS2 came to me.  I tried it and it works without
flaws, reads all discs and boots them up right away.  I also received a new AC adapter
wire, AV cables, and a controller.  Not bad for shipping & handling costs twice.

So, that's how your experience may result with Sony CS... I read that Nintendo CS
takes a similar amount of time, unless you want to pay extra and have it repaired in less than a week.  I also must say I asked for the AC, AV, and controller and they agreed to it!
So do whatever you can when it comes to CS.  Anyone have a story about
their experience, particularly Nintendo?

One time I was violently penetrating my PS2 with a butter knife trying to get it to play imports, and I broke it! And they wouldn't fix it for free! Ahahahahah! Oh wait
