Cure for the Xbox 360's ring of death.

It works, I used it, as Guitar Hero 2 killed my 360. Only do this if you're (extremely) out of warranty, like I am.

The ring of death is caused by the CPU/GPU's PCB overheating, which then can separate from the motherboard itself, all because of the proprietary "X Clamps" that hold the heat sinks in place on the bottom of the motherboard. Long story short: Open the system, pull out the motherboard, remove the X Clamps and heat sinks, clean and apply new thermal compound (arctic silver), replace the X Clamps with the specified washers and screws, plug in the system and overheat it (2 red lights instead of 3) for 2-3 minutes, tighten the new screws all the way, and put your system back together. Hopefully this comes in handy, and Microsoft fixes this flaw in their hardware, since every system is built this way, which means potentially there can be a 100% failure rate. It's the hardware, not the software.
