Issues with the Netflix App
« on: November 19, 2012, 09:48:09 AM »
I try it, and a message pops up saying that it is unable to connect. What gives? According to Miiverse no one else is having an issue with this.

Some of the apps have been temperamental. Miiverse didn't work for me for most of yesterday. Launch growing pains, I guess. It'll probably get smoothed out in time.

I'm not having any issues with Netflix. Have you done the system update?

Netflix also has a mini update.

I would try it again today. It seems like a lot of the apps worked to varying degrees yesterday because of the launch. I doubt it has anything to do with your system and more to do with the backend. I myself had no problems signing into Netflix yesterday, but couldn't get into Miiverse to save my life. Today, so far, everything is working smoothly.

I tried this morning. Didn't work. And yes, I did the 5 hour update. And yes, I did the mini update. I don't know whats wrong. I know I wasn't only one with the issue, according to Google, but still.

That is strange, I didn't have any issues with it last night when I logged in.  Only thing I can think about is getting the WiiU offline, then back on, and then trying it again.  I'm not sure what could be giving you problems there especially if everything else is working fine.

Tried redownloading the app, still no luck. My 3DS and PS3 are both connecting, so the issue lies with my system?

How is your other internet connections on the Wii U? I'm thinking something else that streams. That would narrow it down to either the app or the system wide internet.

Damn, I was going to tell you to log into netflix through the browser and watch it through there but that doesn't seem to work.  Have you tried contacting Nintendo?  Since the 3ds and PS3 work then the router is fine.  I would reset your wifi settings on the WiiU, turn it off then back on and set up your wifi again.  Then try the Netflix again.  Other than that, only other thing I could think of is to wait for another update but I'm sure that won't help you now and thats not what you want to hear.

My other streaming ways are working fine. Youtube works, all Wii U online features work. I get an error message even before the list of movies pops up.

I contacted Netflix support (got a local guy, and we even chatted about the Wii U for a few minutes) but we weren't able to solve it. He's going to create a help ticket for my case and contact me from around 4 to midnight tomorrow.

Also, I found out that you can use press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, up, up, up, up, up for a debug mode type thing with your account and system info plus another way to deactivate Netflix on your system. Pretty neat.

That code is apparently a standard Netflix thing, because I once had to change Netflix accounts on the app built into my aunt and uncle's TV and I had to input that exact code to do it.

Holy ****, customer service that actually helped! He told me, right before I got off the line, that I should also power cycle my router just in case (considering my other stuff worked this shouldn't have been a problem) so I just did so and it fucking worked! I can finally watch my shows now.

Thanks for everyone who tried helping me. :)

Damn, I was going to tell you to try that but didn't think it'll matter given all your other streaming aps and devices work.  Glad you got that squared away though.  Its funny how issues are usually always resolved with a simple pull of a plug in a way lol.
