...hell, many of these don't even run in 720p. Honestly, I knew that they didn't run at full resolution, but the amount of false advertising on the behalf of the companies and the misconceptions on the behalf of the gaming populace astounds me. I got into an argument with a guy saying that Metal Gear Solid 4 ran at native 1080p simply because it says that on the box... and even after I showed him that it was in fact, only 1024x768 (4:3 aspect ration, for pete's sake) with a little AA mixed in.

Hell, the Wii U doesn't have many games at native 1080p either, but just a little better than the other two systems.

All I want for this coming gen is for the PS4 and Xone run all their games at native 1080p at 60FPS with a ****-ton of AA. If they can't even do that, what the **** is the point of bragging about how good all these new games look?

I know it's cool for everyone including the admins to make fun and harrass TJ, but why the hell is Unclebob still a mod after that awful shitstorm of a thread? At least punish the guy with a temp demotion, or else he will continue to do what he's been doing.

I loved and adored The Conduit and Conduit 2, and I was so pumped for The Grinder. And hell, I was even excited for what they were putting on the 3DS. What happened? Are they not doing anything for Nintendo anymore?

So I came up with the idea of posting pictures of ourselves so we all know what you guys look like behind the mask avatar. Me first, I guess.

...what would be the first thing I'd have them play? They've played various Nintendo franchises, but nothing like Uncharted, CoD, Halo, etc. etc. I was wondering what's the first "hardcore" game I should have them play. I was thinking The Last of Us. Might as well push into the deep end.

I was having a discussion with my good friend (Drizzt on the forums) and I realized while talking to him that I am not a Nintendo fanboy. Sure, I own more Nintendo consoles than any other, but I am not. If I listed the major Nintendo franchises, I dislike almost every one of them.


The Legend of Zelda? I only liked Wind Waker. Super Mario? I only liked the original, SMB3, and Galaxy. Mario Kart? I like them, but not enough to buy a console for it. Star Fox? If they ever make a true sequel to SF64, I'd be all over that. F-Zero? I only liked the original. Donkey Kong? Nope. Kirby? Nope. Fire Emblem? Only Awakening. Pikman? Meh. Even the one I like the most, Metroid, hasn't had a good game since the beginning of the Wii's life cycle, and I've always found the 2D games to be fairly too difficult for me.


As you can see, I am not a perfect Nintendo fan. However, what does get me excited with Nintendo's handhelds and consoles are the unique third-party experiences I can't get anywhere else. My favorite DS games were titles like Ghost Trick, 999, The World Ends With You, Scurge: Hive, etc. With the 3DS, the trend continues. I loved titles like Virtue's Last Reward, Mutant Mudds, Kingdom Hearts 3D, etc. more than I like Mario Kart 7 or Super Mario 3D Land.


On the Wii, my favorites were games like Red Steel 2, The Conduit, Goldeneye 007, Xenoblade Chronicles, Mad World etc. And again, this is true with the Wii U. I loved ZombiU, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Black Ops 2 (of all things) more than I liked Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U.


I was really hoping for more third party games for the Wii U. The Wonder 101 and X are looking promising, but those two are the exceptions. I'm really worried that my Wii U purchase will be similar to my 3DS purchase for the rest of 2013.

In any case, I'd love to start up discussion of the show, because it is fucking brilliant. Nearly every time they post a new entry, I get more and more amazed of the skill at which they film and edit the entries.

General Chat / Confession time: I am seriously depressed and I feel alone

It's not exactly been diagnosed by a professional, but I feel immensely depressed. Its been creeping on me for the last few years, but now its finally crashing down on me like a wave.

I broke up with my long time girlfriend recently, and all of my friends seem to act as if I'm a burden to be around. I'm extremely apprehensive of my future and whether or not I can survive the future and (so far) imaginary hardships.

I was feeling pretty suicidal a few weeks ago and told someone on here, who thankfully contacted the admins so they could contact my local police department. Seeing the cops at my door wanting to talk to me sure was a wake up call at the time, but that shock is starting to wear off. I still thank those who were involved for what they did.

I know this is just the stupid angst of an angry 18 year old who's problems are probably less severe than what you are facing, but it's all I know. Please understand that.

Even though it's very sad that I have to admit this to a bunch of internet strangers who don't give two shits about me, I feel like this is the only place I can publicly admit something like this without everyone I know trying to make me feel better and only making it worse.

I just needed to write it down and get it out of my system. I feel a little bit better after writing this so maybe that's a good sign.

Nintendo Gaming / Zero Escape (999 and Virtue's Last Reward) Discussion

I beat 999 completely during the summer, while on vacation in Florida, and was pleased to find out that the sequel released a few months later. After months of waiting I got the game a few days ago and beat VLR 100% about twenty minutes ago. My head is still reeling from all the twists and turns. I don't think I've ever consumed a story that was so convoluted (in a good way, I assure you) as VLR (and by extension, 999). And I'm a guy who loved LOST and Primer.


Has anyone else played either game? I've love to discuss the ending to VLR (and 999, if that's all you've played).

I signed up for Amazon Student a little while ago, getting six months free of Amazon Prime. Somehow in the next five minutes, I canceled the free trial and started up the discounted Amazon Prime service ($39/year), according to the customer service.


I obviously wanted my free trial back so I called them up and told them the situation. The guy originally said that he could not give me the trial back (that it was impossible) and that the only way to get my 39 dollars back was to cancel the service, that, too, I did not want. I basically thanked him for helping me, and was about to hang up when he asked if he could put me on hold and talk to his supervisor. He came back about five minutes later saying that he was given the go ahead to not only refund my 39 dollars, but give me a year of Prime free at that 39 dollar price.


Now, while the guy didn't seem to happy about that (if he didn't want that to happen he shouldn't have said something) and made sure to remind me that they don't normally do this, but I'm happy that his supervisor helped me out.

Ever heard the phrase? It's the 80 percent of the Internet that isn't indexed, so it can't be viewed by normal means, and cannot be searched. They end in a ".onion" domain and have completely randomized URLs. It can only be viewed by programs that are made to view these pages, one of these is TOR. Because of these things, viewing Deep Web is untraceable, though they can monitor who comes out of the Deep Web, but not what they were doing in it. It's completely anonymous, much more so than 4chan.


The Deep Web is also the most fucked up place in the world. Because it's completely untraceable, every single illegal activity you can think of breeds there. Drug and human trafficking, sites where you can pay someone in your area to kill someone you want dead, like a fucked up version of craigslist. Loads and loads of child pornography, sites teaching you on how to kidnap a child or the best way to kill a family and frame the husband as a murder-suicide, and even forums dedicated to kinks related to injecting themselves with HIV blood and giving that blood to unwitting participants.


All those websites, imageboards, and forums are collected in a wiki called "The Hidden Wiki", which is just what it sounds like. I spent a grand total of ten minutes in the Deep Web, and I noped the **** out of there.
