The idea might work...  My real concern and questions is are there enough of us to make a dent in sales.  I know I will be out there day 1, and so will most of you guys, but will we really be able to have an impact on the market?

Food for thought I guess.

Do you guys really think the fanboys can carry Nintendo to number 1 at launch?

perhaps, maybe if they blow sony and MS out of the water the first couple weeks and get the momentum to dramatically shift in favor of Nintedo, but I remain skeptical.

What do you guys think will be the role of the fanboy at launch and in the next gen.  Can we/they be a force of good?

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo In Retrospect and Foresight

You bring up a log of interesting points.  I myself don't see the benifit of an EARLY release, just make sure it isn't a LATE release.  I think if it releases at the same time as the competition with some really good games to go with it, people will buy the darn thing.  Consumers aren't (some are) as stupid as we think.  Give them a reason to buy the next nintendo system.

I think if it was released at the same time it would help its sales too.  Capture some of the momentum of the moment.  Imagine everyone running out an buying a new console at the same time.  Just make sure the release lineup is solid with promise of future games.  If nintendo releases when everyone else does and has some great games to take home with it, how could people not buy it.  I just hope they aren't upstaged again by the competition.

Its all about perception.  Nintendo needs to improve its image and perception, it has been tarnished by GCN, which is considered the epitimy of a "kiddy system."  Not to bring that argument up, but how can nintendo appeal to everyone without alieniating anyone from the kids, us loytalists, etc.?  I hear people say "We need more mature games", but doesnt that alienate the kids.

I agree Nintendo needs to improve its image in percetion to appeal to everyone, but how do they do it?

Everyone should remember that specs don't matter- I don't buy the console with the most RAM.

Not to you, but to the causal gamers out there.  "Humm which one should I buy?"  When all else is viewed as equal the specs will move the systems.  Not that it truly matters, but it is all about perception of having the best.  IMO Nintendo can't afford to be viewed as having a inferiour product again.  They should meet the specs head for head, and not do anything that will give it poor image.  Perception is so important the next time around.

Is it just me or isn't it Nintendo that usually has shortages of products at the stores.  I remember not being able to find particular games at retailers because Nintendo didn't send them enough.  I think this is something Nintendo really needs to fix too.  Have enough for us all at the store.

Nintendo Gaming / Zelda game after windwaker

I think a lot of what makes Zelda games great is the fact that they aren't futuristic games, that there seems some sense of fansasy.  We all have wanted to live in Hyrule, go and talk to the villagers etc.  I don't think it would be much fun to be in some futuristic world, that just doesnt sound like fun to me.  I want to ride horses, shoot bows and arrows, walk in ancient temples, learn the secrets of yesterday and use them to complete tasks, find the forgotten.  I love the mostly traditional fantasy elements.
