Nintendo Gaming / RE: Super Mario Galaxy

I personally like the more linear nature, and therefore automatic camera, of SMG.  Mario is not an exploration game but a platformer, and I appreciate that return to its roots.

You shouldnt need to explore every nook and cranny in the world, you should get from point A to point B without dying.

I think its great.

And I just keep hoping for GBA and GB games.  Why Nintendo why?

This is the same thing that they did with the iPhone.  Find a popular company, and paint them bad to get publicity for the overall environmental disaster that is mass produced electronics.

Is Nintento evil ,probably not; but they can and should make efforts to be greener.  But dont worry to much about this all.

Apparently you haven't been in a real band before.  That is the way it usually works.  The singer always sucks, and thinks they run the world.  Seems a pretty accurate portrayal to me.

Here is a new fishing game for wii:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hooked!_Real_Motion_Fishing

It is developed by the same team that did the original Sega Bass Fishing, the reviews that I have read (I dont speak Japanese) seem to be pretty positive.  Its online, and comes with a reel.  Not be plug it too much, but has anyone else heard much about this one?  Seems like the one with the most potential out there.

So far the fishing games on the wii are really weak, are there any good ones?

Anybody think they will release the Mario All Stars 'updated graphics' versions of the game?  I love the 'nes'talgia, but I do love the more colorful SNES versions.

I think Zelda TP did define the gamecube.  It was a direct response to the criticism of wind waker and the Gamecube philosophy (n64 carry over on some accounts).  It was Nintendo saying "please come back" and it was an important moment in the history of the gamecube.  The very fact that it was ported over to the Wii solidifies the image of the gamecube that I have:  A great system that never could get out from under its own weight.  A capable and almost perfect system that never lived up to its potential.

I loved my gamecube (till I sold it to pay for my wii), but the fact that Zelda was released a year later and on the Wii is very significant in understanding the Gamecube.

I was complaining that the VC was having such a drought, but after last week, and this week  I don't think I can afford all these awesome games.  I can't wait for DKC and SMW.

I do hope that we will eventually see GB games make a VC appearance.  I would love some links awakening magic.

Slightly Off topic but may be interesting, does anyone know if the VC games are locked to the Wii.  In a sense that when Wii 2, or whatever, comes out will I be forced to buy all of the VC games again.  I would be much happier and willing to buy VC games, even over the compliations, if I knew that this was likely the very last time that I was going to buy them.

I saw this on Digg last night.  If Nintendo would have only called it the revolution all of this could have been avoided.  I can't see a radio station contest to overthrow the government for a video game console.

But the games are artificially scarce.  Its not like you are paying for a tangible thing that has input required to make it for you (that was paid for years ago).  Nintendo is just a bunch of greedy Japanses businesmen and they want to rip you off for as much as possible.  I can't belive you guys have this loyalty to them that you consider a natural undermining of their artifical constraints to be stealing.  Thats such crap, and I can't believe you guys have been duped into thinking that you owe Nintendo (or any other corporation) anything.

I have bought VC games, but because I feel that have value added above the pirated versions.  But I don't buy them because there is some sort of moral question not to.  When it comes down to it, I would rip Nintendo off for as much as I could, the assumption being that they would do the same thing to me.  Capitalism at its finest.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: rapala fishing for wii
« on: December 30, 2006, 02:48:32 AM »
The fishing in Zelda is actually much better.  At least the casting and fishing are much more responsive.  I found Rapala to be very sluggish and un-responsive.  It is imposible to make the lure do what you do with it in real life.  The camera angles are weird (especially close to the boat) and the landing fish mini-game is so stupid.  The lakes available are really only small ponds, and very generic.  I had hopes it would be awesome, with it featuring a couple lakes in my home state and walleyes, musky, perch, and bass available.  Although to be honest the Rapala license hurt it, because you only had rapala crankbaits and nothing else.  No plastic worms, no jigs, etc.  WTF?  But the licensed tackle is cool, I just wish it was more brands.

I love fishing and love my wii.  Its too bad that I will have to wait for a good fishing game.  Someone is bound to make it, I personally hope it is sega and they make a bass fishing duel game.  I can wish...

There are some good ones:  Sega bass fishing duel, Super Black Bass.

I guess I am not really looking for a masterpiece, but something solid that does what I think it should (being a fisherman and all) that can get me through the winter when all the lakes are frozen.
