VIRTUAL CONSOLE LIVES!!!

...in Europe, at least.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/04/nintendo_download_3rd_may_2012_europe

I'd like to think North America will get it soon, but history implies that that won't be the case... Shame too, because Game & Watch Gallery 2 is a game I'm really wanting to play.

Just in case some people want ideas of sizes of games that could be downloaded through the eShop. You'd definitely need a bigger SD card for Revelations.

Person says that's the sign of a true portal master.

Then there's that... Looking at Google Image results for "Skylanders collections" is a little mind boggling.

Whoever's going to E3 needs to write down all of these awesome suggestions and mention them to Nintendo guys. Or just slip it in their pockets when they're not looking.

It's not bad; we're just giving them a nudge in the right direction.  ;)

Games that are best played in short bursts, Animal Crossing, high-score/time attack games, etc., are better suited for the digital market. If Nintendo releases any of those, chances are I'll go the digital route because I'm lazy like the rest of you of convenience, and it's nice to have some games instantly available.

The final part of that gif is going to be used so much. I can feel it...

...Something just occurred to me. Given the apparent ability to scan figures and put them into the game, what if Nintendo uses that for the Wii U Smash Bros.? Makes sense, given the characters in that series are figurines come to life.

They could sell additional characters as figurines  for 5-10 bucks a pop. You scan them once, they're added to the game, and buyers get a nice little collectible. It's genius!

Hopefully this game will make Nintendo step up their game with whatever Mario project they've got for Wii U. Both games have the capacity to be the system's first great platformer.

60
The memory will be easy to change with a regular HDD and people will have enough space for all of those digital downloads they want...  That could work.

Maybe the base game will be cheaper than other 3DS games and additional furniture, settings, and clothing can be bought separately? It's entirely feasible.

63
That's... not a bad suggestion, Kytim. That could make it easier to justify for some people.

I see this being similar to the Games on Demand on XBL; no big-name titles on release day but successful, or inexpensive, titles will be added every other week (and that can be stored on the servers or whatever operates). Games like Steel Diver for a reduced price and digital could be worth looking into, in my eyes...

Also, remember that rumor that New Super Mario Bros. 2 would be released on the eShop as well? Well, maybe that game will receive this treatment. You never know...

64
After Kid Icarus: Uprising, I expect single-player elements in both Smash Bros. games to have a KI:U feel. Crazy dialog and meta jokes? Maybe not, but perhaps common enemy designs, items, etc.

I love videos like this.

I think so. They probably think that 1 percent of 3DS owners really want VC games anyway.

Nintendo registered a domain name for "Super Mario 4" a few weeks ago, and I feel that that is going to be the Wii U game. The last numbered Super Mario Bros. game appeared on a console, so why not?

I hope Mario fans don't complain about wonky physics and things like "HIS HAIR SHOULD BE BLACK LIKE IN SUPER MARIO BROS. 3/SUPER MARIO WORLD!!!"

I was playing some more Donkey Kong Country Returns again rcently and, you know what?

I think the big secret game Retro is working on is DKC 3DS.

I base my speculation on the fact there is so much gameplay in DKCR that takes place on more than one plane. You are often barreling into the background, kind've like in Mutant Mudds. So, I think Retro's DK easily lends itself to further gameplay on the 3DS. It'd be, I suppose, relatively easy for them to do, too. They have the art assets and gameplay engine and whatnot already. They probably have leftover level ideas too, just like the Mario Galaxy team did, which led nicely into Galaxy 2.

Discuss.

(p.s., why is this in the WiiU thread? Well, folk have been a-speculating what Retro is up to and also everyone's been talking about Metroid. Made me think of this).

And as the RFN crew discussed a while back, the style of DKCR could lend well to 3D in a fashion similar to Cave Story 3D.

In case Retro really is working on DK3D, all I ask is that it maintains some difficulty the first game had (and the ability to roll with a button press would be nice too).

And to think North America probably isn't going to get Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 for another month or so. More salt in the wound.  :(

Free DLC for a pretty great game? Sign me up!

Sounds like this may be just what J.P. ordered! Unless it gets stamped with "I own it, but haven't played it" like the other two versions he owns...

Maybe I'll actually check it out this time. The price and content make it sound more appealing than Cave Story 3D...

Sure, one could say the look is lazy but you could also say that playing a video game for the graphics is like watching a porno for the story.

I'm sure the game will be fun and make plenty of dollars for Nintendo.

insanolord, you've made it clear you don't like Mario World, so people might just tune it out...

So after a two week gap, I watched five episodes that I was able to find on YouTube in good quality. They were:

"Dragon Quest" - I don't know why, but I kept thinking about Skyrim... a game I've never played. I probably should some day. The episode was all right.

"Hurricane Fluttershy" - It was all right. Really can't recall everything that happened but I felt the moral of "don't listen to critics and just believe in yourself and go for it" was one that many people I know could stand to learn.

"A Friend In Deed" - The musical sequence was a bit grinding on me but I thought Pinkie Pie's near-obsessive behavior was worth a few giggles.

"It's About Time" - The outcome of the episode was a bit of a letdown, but it also had a nice moral of "don't worry about the future, but just deal with problems as they come".

"Putting Your Hoof Down" - I couldn't shake the feeling I've seen this episode before... SpongeBob

Overall: it was not bad but not very good either. It's harmless entertainment, but nothing to really get excited about as ShyGuy noted. Ah, but maybe it'll be something I have on as a last resort. I'm not a fan, but I'm also not a hater.
