So I spent the day with my mom's twisted family today. Yeah that is the down side, but the up side is they gave us a cake and my parents got DirecTV hooked back up, so yeah it was  a good day.

Ok so I was watching some old Transformers episodes last night and I was moslty skipping around from season to season and got to thinking about the gap between the Japanese stuff and Beast Wars a little so started doing some google to read up on some stuff I had missed, and how to go about finding it. Well I stopped by the old G1 wikipedia page and read upon the history of the show again cuz there was something missing and I couldn't figure out what it was. Well I found it, the lost seasons, Season 5 apparently was a retelling of the earlier episodes but used a stop motion puppet of "power master prime" and a boy named Tommy Kennedy.


I know those episodes existed cuz well by the time I was old enough to watch Transformers those were the ones airing so pretty much what I had seen growing up, so I figured I would try and hint them down, surely by now they'd be on DVD or something right? Guess what, wrong. Seams like the kid just fell into a back hole and no one has heard from him since 1988, so they can't get the rights to the episodes cuz the kid just disappeared.

How the hell does one just disappear? You would think by now they would have found him or something, but the more I googled the more I found out he is just gone. Weird. Any thoughts?

Long story short, (I Promise) A year ago I moved out of my parents house into an apartment with a really close friend of mine, well needless to say I lost job that I had at the time (please don't ask) and so I was faced witha  delimma, move back in with my parents or sell a bunch of **** to pay rent while I look for a new job. Since me and my homie go way back and are like tight and all that he agrees to let me stay with him for another month and look for work if I give him all of my That 70's show DVD's and some GC video games. So I agree. Amonth goes by, no new job, so he says he will take some more dvd's for rent, this time a bunch of crap I don't care about Friday, The Mask Spider-Man 2 whatever no big deal. Next month  no job, more dvd's to pay the rent, so I fork over my T2 collectors edition and my T3 dvd along with season 1 of roseane. Fine no loss, then it comes down to it, last month still no job what do I do? give him my Star Wars DVDs and my Melee for GC! Ok all payed up for one more month. This whole time I think no big deal I can replace any one of these at anytime. Well I end up moving back in with parents a few months latter as I am now outta **** to pay the rent with and no job in sight. I use my tax return to pay a couple months in advance for some 8Meg cable internet and decide to go on a downloading binge. First I problem I come across is every copy of Fantastic Four I download is fucked up. Either they added some stupid deleted scenes or they altered the video some how or something dumb, no big deal i can live with this though as these movies are not high priority anyways. Then I start having Star Wars withdrawls (I am typing this on the Wii so no spell check) anyways I download all 6 movies 5 different times and everytime I do there is something wrong with them, the sub titles are in french, the sub titles for the aliens are missing, the picture quality sucks, always something wrong. I have been wanting to watch Star Wars for 3 months solid to no availe. Moral of the Story, if you don't have a job and your roommate says he will take your Star Wars movies as payment, keep the fucking movies and move back in with your parents. Oh and piracy is stupid.

General Gaming / What PC games are there that a Console gamer might enjoy?

Ok sorry for derailing the Quake 4 thread I figured I would start a new thread to kinda maintain some resemblance of order. So here is a run down of the games I have played in the past, and kinda an idea what I am thinking about trying out.
Keep in mind I have always been a console gamer so PC gaming is like an after thought, but since for the first time ever I have a video card that might run I don't know a video game or two, I wanted to see what was out there. Also keep in mind my PC is getting old and the card I bought was outdated when it was new. (and I got it used so don't expect it to perform much)


Anyways here is a list of every PC game I have ever played, with a little about what I liked what I didn't like.



Duke Nukem- Played all the old side scrollers and the 3D, so far liked only the first game.

Jazz Jackrabbit- This game does not exist online virus free so I gave up on looking for it but when I got it back in the day it was fun


Mech Warrior 2- I loved this game but never could run it on my old set up, my new computer theoretically should do fine  but for some reason gives me some stupid error and won't play the game so I gave up.

Heretic- I think it was made my the people who made Doom or Duke Nukem I can't remember , I hated it though too much of a Doom rip off not very fun.

Wolfenstein (3D?)- I don't remember much but it was fun, but really really old.

Sim City- JUST the first one, I love it to death but since I have it on VC and that version is better I finally let it go.

Eye of the Beholder 2 Legend of Darkmoon- This was one of my favorite games ever. Of course I will likely get into anything that is D&D so my first thing to do is find out whats out there.

Decent- Played this once, it was boring.

Warcraft- that was fun for like an hour then it got extremely boring.

Star Wars Force Commander- loved this game but it always crashed on me.

Star Wars X-Wing- still have these but no stick makes then no fun.

Star Wars Dark Forces- Not bad but not great either

Guild Wars- Had the demo, brother gave me the full game but I haven't installed it yet. Demo was sorta fun.

That is not everything but that is all I can think of for right now. Problem is when I go looking for games, I always find games I think I might want, but then think I'd rather have a game pad.

Remember back when they first unveiled the remote, and PGC had this contest to see who could come up with the best idea for a game using the new controls? I know it was just a contest and all but I thought they said back then that the winning idea would be sent to Nintendo for consideration or something, or maybe I am remembering wrong. Anyways has anyone heard anything about that game, or heard anything similar? Just thought of it today don't know why though.

the number of days my Wii console has not been turned on since launch day, I counted almost two full months over the last year and a half that I never turned the system on at all. Ok so I was bored today. So I challenge you all to see how you compare. Some of the days that I did have the system on, the most I did was check messages and maybe the news channel briefly.

at first I was thinking cuz I needed money to pay up my internet bill I'd just sell it and be done with it, but when I went to GS they actually gave me a lot more money than I figured they would, and that doesn't usually happen, so I decided forget paying up the internet, I'm going to best buy.

Well turns out they had this 500GB USB HDD for under $100 so I caved in and bought it, and I still have enough money left over to go see Indiana Jones tonight with my friends, so yeah now i am depressed, I sold me DS for a HDD and a movie ticket somebody shoot me please.

Well since there is no official Technical Discussion forum and I have been having a lot of questions I wanted to start a new thread where I intend to put ALL of my computer and other hardware questions so as not to clutter this place up.



So here is my latest dilemma, I got a 120GB hard drive off someones computer that wasn't using it when they upgraded to a newer computer, well turns out it is all formatted weird, instead of the ususal 1 or 2 partitions, there are five smaller drives which makes using the stupid thing extremely difficult. So what I want to do is reformat the entire drive to just 1 partition, how do I do that?


I tried just right-clicking on them and selecting Format but when I do that it only lets me select 1 drive at a time. I am going to try some things, but if I can't figure it out I will check back here incase someone posts something usefull thanks.

General Chat / Shutting of DirecTV Need advice

Ok so bottom line here it is, we had to let go of the directv because of risingmedical bills and rising gas costs we can't afford it anymore. So the TV is the last thing we want to get rid of but first non essential thing to go. Now I am going to fight tooth and nail to keep the internet on because we use it for alot more than just recreation.


So here is my delima. We are keeping the internet and we can watch tv shows and movies right there on the PC, mine is fairly decent, 2.0 Ghz Processor, 1GB Ram, a 128 MB Radeon video card, and a few other things. I also have 8Meg internet so I decided there is no harm in just hooking the PC into my 27" (yes I know) Tv and having the comfort of watching TV from my PC to my TV. The thing is my parents have a slow computer, like 530 Mgz or something processor, 256MB RAM, and NO video card other than the integrated crap it came with. They are on the same fast internet I am on so I was thinking of upgrading their computer with a decent video card or something to get their favorite tv shows and movies in the living room right from the internet.


Problem is they do not want the pc in the living room and they do not want the TV in the bed room. SO here is my question. What do I need to be able to get the TV from their computer (and in a watchable form) so that they can sit in the living room and watch their tv shows from their computer but on the TV? Would it be cheaper/better to buy something like the Apple TV or would it be fine just getting a HUB or something and running the S-Video cable from the PC to the TV? Keep in mind we are trying to cut costs here by eliminating the cable bill so  we are looking for an alternative solution that won't cost us a ton of money.


Ok in other words we want to watch TV from our PC over the internet but have a slow computer, what do I need? With our fast internet would using a HUB be the best idea (right now the router is in the basement where my PC is and my moms computer is using a Wi-Fi adaptor to get the internet but it is a USB 2.0 adapter and her computer has the older USB ports so it is slowed down even more.


What I was thinking is if I got a HUB and ran a line directly to her computer that should get her faster internet speeds, and I think I can fit more RAM into the system ut I am not sure the maximum it can handle ( it uses SD RAM also) So I was thinking I would then get her a fairly cheap (maybe 64 or 128 MB video card with S-Video or maybe Component video outs) and see if that would be enough. Any thoughts? Sorry for the long disorganized post I am just looking for answers in a hurry so I know what to look for so we don' overspend. PLus my parents are old fashioned and stubborn so making a switch like this is going to take some convincing and I think with our current financial situation we need an afordable solution like in a hurry. Plus my dad does not want to miss a single NBA game so it's liek we need to figure something out in a hurry.

Nintendo Gaming / Should/Would Nintendo make Pictochat online?

Just curious because the what three years I have had my DS I have used the service once and that was on a Grey Hound Bus. Seeing as how the Wii has online communication now wouldn't it be smart for Nintendo to take the DS chat online? Also would it be possible without a separate software release like a DS card that installs the option or could it be done via a Firmware upgrade?

I have been wondering this since the Wii came out and think if Nintendo is worried about child molesters and such they could require a friend code swap to go along with the online version. What are everyones thoughts on this? If there is already a thread for this I apologize I did a search before posting and found nothing so started a new thread.


Also isn't there supposed to be a web browser for DS, has that ever come out in America, cuz if it has and I missed it I would sure like to get it cuz it would be nice to have when I am at my sisters house.

General Chat / Do I need a new modem or what?

Ok here is the deal for no reason at all my computer won't let me connect to the internet. Sometimes it will still be connected say if I am downloading but when I try to go online in a browser, and it never matters what browser they all do it, it won't connect at all even though there is Internet. I turn off my Firewalls, I repair my connection, I release the IP and get everything all going again and nothing. No internet. The only thing that ever works is if I shut down the computer and when it restarts it's good to go but sometimes it works for days and sometimes it won't work at all but everytime I restart it works fine.

I tried hooking up just the modem thinking it was the router, but it still loses internet for no reason at all. It isn't just my computer either, sometimes my moms won't connect nor will my brothers either but the Wii never has the problem. Weird. So I am wondering if I just need to replace my router or my modem or both? Should I play it safe and just replace everything or is there a way I can pinpoint what is causing this. It's driving me nuts how my computer will be online all day long downloading but when I try and surf the net, it won't connect to anything.

I have tried doing this before back when I had Gamerz Jackpot but it didn't work out how I wanted it to.

See what I want to do is create an RSS feed for my blog, which is currently hosted on Myspace, and make it so the posts show up on the homepage of the website when I update the blog but still look like a part of the website and not Myspace. I designed the Myspace page to look like the website using the same theme and it looks a lot better than anything I have done before, but I do not remember how I did this the last time and if I do it I want it to look like a part of the site.

So basically when you goto the home page there is a space that will show the posts of the blog on the front page so when I post new blogs it shows up on the home page. Anyone know an easy way to do this? Or know of a script I could download or something? I did it before but it took forever and a day and never quit looked how I wanted it to. The website in question can be found by going to rats collectibles and clicking on the link at the top of the page. The myspace blog can be found also on the home page of the new site.
