TalkBack / Re: IMPRESSIONS: Super Smash Bros. Brawl
« on: February 17, 2008, 05:53:16 AM »
A few questions, three about clones and one about SFX.

Is Wolf a "heavy" clone of Fox?  Is Ganon again a "heavy" clone of Falcon?  Is Toon Link a "light" clone of Link?

And... are the explosion sound effects beefier than Melee's?  That's one of the things I didn't like about it, there was no audial satisfaction to bob-ombing someone, there was no kick to the explosion sounds.

PS: Admit it everyone, the reason why you like Zero Suit Samus more isn't because of the fact that there's no real improvement to armored Samus, it's because she's wearing the catsuit zero suit. :P

If a device a CPU, geeks will eventually do two things to it:

1: Get Linux to run on it

2: Overclock the CPU

General Chat / Where did he go?
« on: March 28, 2005, 10:58:44 AM »
Way back when, there was a guy around here who had the handle "Mike Hrotch" and had an avatar of Danny Elfman, and went by the name of Nigel, and was a hobbyist digital music composer.  Does he still hang around here?

Considering the fact that their products are better engineered than that other company whose new product is plagued with problems, their excellent tech support is a very pleasantly handy afterthought.

I shall also point out the EFF's use of loaded words and phrases, such as "big bully", and "Crime against the public domain."

North Korea thinks that it's American propaganda if Kim Jong Il has the screamin' squirts, so it's not surprising.

TalkBack / RE: Play Videogames on the Big, BIG Screen
« on: June 21, 2004, 08:43:28 PM »
That, mah friends, is an OmniMax theatre.  It's even more impressive seeing one for yourself.

The St. Louis Science Center prominently sports one, it's an even greater sight to behold when it's showing.  The big honkin sound system is as stunning to the ears as the screen is to the eyes.

Can't imagine what it'd be like to play a game on it.

I gar-on-tee that a loud explosion in a game in there will make your butt rumble far more than the force-feedback in the controller will for your hands.

If you hold R, Link will stop swinging on the rope, and you can change the direction of the swing, or even move up and down on the rope.  After re-aligning, release R and start swinging again.  That got me befuddled the first time I played too.

At the Cradle, there are clues to their wherabouts.  Scan the holographic chozo heads on the concentric pillars to get the clues.  Only seven will be shown if you never collected an artifact before reaching the Cradle, you'll have to return after collecting a few to get the clues for the remaining four.  Artifact #12 will be smack-dab in the middle of the Cradle.

Whaaaa?  An analyst report on Nintendo that doesn't spell certain doom for them?  We can't have that, the analyst responsible will have to be sacked.

THERE CAN"T BE MORE THAN ONE FREAKING SAMUS... WHAT THE HELL!

SA-X, anyone?

I think it's the owner of the  Hand That Curiously Has A Weird Gem Thingy On The Back Like Samus's Left Hand That Burst Forth From The Phazon.  Then again, I haven't seen the screenshot so I don't know.

*Gromble*...  This is turning into a witch hunt now, where the SEC is issuing these inquiries to just anybody they don't like.  And they expect the economy to get better with all this panic-mongering they're formenting?

Does anyone know when the next batch of Viewtiful Joe imports comes in?  I'm not gonna spend anything until they have some on-hand.  Please say yes, the preview disk's demo isn't enough anymore!

General Chat / Looking for Nigel...
« on: June 23, 2003, 04:54:51 PM »
Hello...  When this board was still on QueaZBoard, there was a board-goer here who went by the moniker of "Mike Rhoch", and had an avatar of Danny Elfman.  He also did several amateur MIDI compositions and posted them up here.  Lately, his "Mostly Ghostly" website (where he referred to himself by his real name of Nigel), where he had his works up, dissapeared off of Google.  Does anyone know if he moved his works elsewhere, or of his email address, or perhaps you are still perusing around on the new boards under a different handle, Nigel?

TalkBack / Want To Buy The Wind Waker Soundtrack?
« on: April 28, 2003, 07:24:42 PM »
Whee!! I just got mine in the mail.

If anyone's interested, I assembled a list of all the tracks on there (not complete, still has a few holes).  I took a few creative liberties with the names of the tracks, but they hopefully tell what the tracks are.

It's kinda long, though, not sure if it's against the rules to post something too long on this forum.  Could I get a go/no-go from any mods?

Yay!  They're carrying it!

Quick question...  Are they gonna provide a playlist translated to english, or are we gonna have to figure it out on our own?
