Fox Announces dates for 3 (three!!) X-Men movies in 2018

In a surprise announcement just moments ago, the studio confirmed release dates for New Mutants, which will bow on April 13, 2018, followed by Deadpool 2 on June 1, 2018, and finally, ending the year with, the now-official X-Men: Dark Phoenix on November 2, 2018.

The trio of films now joins a calendar that already featured Black Panther on February 16, 2018, Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018, Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6, 2018, Sony Pictures' Venom on October 5, 2018, and the Animated Spider-Man movie, which follows Miles Morales, on December 21, 2018, meaning we could quite possibly get to see a new Marvel movie in eight out of twelve months next year.

Marvel Superhero Slate for 2018 is looking like this:

because if you're not, then No, I could care less about X-men movies.
But I would love another Deadpool, and if that leads to an X-Factor movie, I would be ecstatic.

But this is certainly my #1 Non-Marvel movie of the year, and probably my favorite single movie of the last 20 years (yes, I'm expecting to absolutely love it, w/ RR & SLJ, how could I not?)

I'm thinking Spider-Man at #1.  I think the original trilogy had some records back in the day, and the fan base should be pretty riled up.

I reluctantly picked Justice League for #2 as I think the DC brands still carry some cache.  Plus, if WW is reviewed well, that might give JL enough buzz.  I think the movie being terrible will only hurt it but so much.  BvS was bad, but a good film buffering between the trash piles might make people forget that JL will be more like BvS.

With Wonder Woman getting good reviews, I feel really good about my picks.

WW will do good, and from what I heard, it will deserve to do better than it likely will, but I seriously doubt it tops Guardians or Spider-man for the year.
I think it doing well, may actually give a small boost to JL, which will also surpass WW (even though WW might be the better movie.... we'll have to wait an see)

It's current standing from the estimates I've seen put it somewhere around $600M -$700M World Wide depending on dem legs

GotG2 is at $818M+ already, but won't likely make it past $860M (assuming it's out in all territories)
Spider-man will do no less than $750M
and I'm sure even Thor 3 will break $700M

and for reference, since I'm sure no one here checks on WW gross BO.
Logan = $612M
Lego Batman = $310M
Power Ranger = $140M

So Wonder Woman looks to hit the Top 5 for the year and possibly even the Top 4 if it way over performs due to extremely long legs. But that also depends on how JL and Thor3 both perform.

I think GotG2 set the bar, and SM is likely to meet and/or surpass it.

Oh, I didn't pick WW in my top 2.  I picked Spider-Man and JL.  My JL pick was based on WW washing away some of the negative buzz around the DCEU, which it looks like it did.  People might come out for Gal Gadot more than anything.

So Zach Snyder's daughter commuted suicide, he quit Justice League and now Joss Whedon is finishing it. So it might be good after all.

I'm not sure how much better he can make it.  Sure, editing and reshoots can have a big impact, but the script and vast bulk of the filming and style will have Snyder's stink all over it.

I feel bad for him and his family, but I'm also kinda glad the movie has a chance at quality.
