What games should nintendo's next system launch with.
« on: June 03, 2003, 10:16:45 AM »
I think that a new, Zelda Mario, Metriod game would be great launch titles, how about Too Human and a Camelot RPG, also how about Game Zero (does it still exist)  a wide varitey of sports games, the new franchiese titles Nintendo is creating, some online games, (Mario Kart, Party, Tennis, Golf, and Smash Bros would be great online games) and finally games that appeal to a wide varitey of audiences, games that are rated E, T, and M.  What do you guys think should be released with the next sytem.

That's too many.  Me, I'd say the next Super Smash Brothers for sure, a Metroid for mass appeal, a Mario game because that's tradition, a few third party games, and a new franchise.  Though a launch Metroid is unlikely, unless Retro/Nintendo makes Metroid Prime 2 for the next gen system.  I think Zelda should be saved for midconsole.

Mario and Too Human to launch with.

With the promise of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Metal Gear, and more good stuff later on, Nintendo wins back their userbase.  It's really that simple.  Square-Enix develops for the most successful console, and if Nintendo is able to take the lead in the first year, it pretty much goes without saying that they can trounce PS3.

The hard part is catching people in that first little bit.  PS3 is likely to launch without any killer apps, as that's a Playstation tradition by this point.  If Nintendo can launch with one or more AAA games, they can really win.  It won't matter if everyone calls the console kiddy (and they will), if they are the only ones with good games, I have faith that they can win the mass market.  In Japan at the very least.

A Mario game at launch for sure.
A new Super Smash Bros Melee.
A Pokemon RPG style game.

Then withing the first year hit Sony and M$ with Metroid, and Zelda.

Also make the GC2 backwards compatable so that I can sell my GCN for $50 on eBay and buy another game.

Um..., isn't this forum about The Legend of Zelda series rather than games in general?

And don't forget an awesome exclusive Star Wars title. Rouge Leader was a system seller because
A- There are so many die-hard star wars fans (all ages)
B- Showcased the graphics of gamecube
C-Good Gameplay and fun
D- Exclusive

I can probably name more but u get the point. Also mario and metroid game, super smash bros, third party games an u've bassically disscused everything else.
Video Games-

Good god man!  That's the saddest list I have ever seen.  It will be Final Fantasy XIII by that time for one thing.  For another, it's got enough online games on it to make a person cry for mercy.  I don't really want to see my console become a PC anytime soon.  That happened 20 years ago and the gaming industry crashed.

Heh..... sorry.  I was writing that very late last night, and I think I was a little too snappy.  It's me who should be apologizing.  It's just that it really does bother me when too many online games are listed as system sellers on a console.  I am even more nervous about online console gaming than Nintendo.  Seeing GTA on there... kind of sent me over the line I think.  Anyways, I'm sorry.

why did u call make the GTA game an MMORPG?.... maybe i should do this... MMORPG. its not a role playing game. ya...

Heres my list...

Mario
Mario Kart
Star Wars game (maybe i dunno)
Star Fox
Metroid
i dunno what else to pick. i think that they should start off with great games but they shouldnt all compete against each other.

Zelda (around 3/4 of a year later)

yeah. i dont really know what to put down. personally i want all of them released at the same time. lol. but then sales wouldnt be as good. why u ask? well, people usually want to buy a game most when it first comes out. and the average person cant buy all the games at once. so they never get around to buy the game since it is no longer considered NEW! after a couple of months. people know theyre good games but they just want new things. so theyle wait until the sequal comes out. This of course excludes LEGEND OF ZELDA! i dunno.

NES 5, as I seen some people starting calling it, (which i like) needs killer software.  They need online play.  They need to get the ball rolling with someone like EA.  Midway, somebody.  They need mario and the bunch, but they need some hot 2nd and 3rd party titles as well.  And many more exclusive hits.  And whatever they do, they cannot go out too early like SEGA - everyone is way to hyped up about their new "cell technology".  It'll be a waiting game if they go out too early.  Those are just my thoughts.

IMHO, i think that an old school mario with really hot graphics would really bring out the nastalgia(sp?) in old school gamers.  Do it in the style of Viewtiful Joe.  A mix of 3-d and 2-d, but please, i don't mean Paper Mario.  I don't know why turn based fighting got big and I didn't like that.  The quick reflexes like Mario Bros one or three comes to mind.
