Tomorrow will see the release of Premium formats, providing a further boost which should propel Endgame to over a 1 million tickets, joining Infinity War as the only other movie to pass the mark. Difference being Endgame will do it in its 3rd day of presales, not the night before release! It will therefore also surpass Age of Ultron's final take tomorrow.
Barring a massive slowdown, it is currently on track for 1.8 - 2.0 million tickets presold, which is an absolutely phenomenal number given Infinity War had the previous best at ~1.15m tickets.

128GB card size with almost 1GB a second in transfer speed. The SDmicro Future is almost here.

The new "UC" spec extends the maximum capacity of either a full-size or micro SD card from 2TB to 128TB. And the "Express" spec increases the peak transfer speed of a full-size card from 624MB per second to 985MB per second.

I wasn't even aware that SD cards went up to 2TB
but to jump from that up to 128TB is absolutely ridiculous.

Last card I bought was a 200GB card for the switch, and that cost more than I wanted to pay for it.
I can only imagine what a 128TB card, and much less even a 2TB card must cost.
(Amazon doesn't even list 2TB cards... 512GB cards cost $300, 256GB right around $100)

Hopefully this means solid state prices drop hard and fast.
Switch will reap the benefit as they can hopefully eventually fit the 2TB Final Fantasy XX on a cart w/ practically 0 (zero) load times, No more 3rd party excuses.

And this makes me want to hold out for a new phone even more, as I want to be able to slip an upto 2TB SD card in it. and hopefully with solid state data prices dropping like a rock, my next phone can come with 512GB already on the phone, and I almost never have to worry about my phone running out of space again.

Movies & TV / Disney bought Fox: Fox Shareholders Agreed to $71B Disney Buyout!!

But it appears Disney is practically done hammering out the details with FOX over an acquisition of a majority of it's Movie, TV assets and all their Regional Sports channels.

This deal DOES NOT include: FOX News, FOX Sports 1 or 2, nor their National Broadcast station FOX (ch2 around here)

From what I've read they will be acquiring the following:
- 21st Century Fox (IP holders of The Simpsons, Aliens, Predator, X-Men (& F4?), and distribution for Avatar and A New Hope, among MANY, MANY other shows an movies)
- FX/FXX cable channels
- National Geographic Channel
- All Regional Sports Channels (i.e. Fox Sports Boston, Fox Sports Detroit)
- An additional 30% stake in HULU (increasing Disney's share up to 60%)
- 40% Stake in SkyTV (big deal over in Europe) with the bid to also take full 100% control
  -there's another Euro/Aus company caught up in the deal... I'll have to edit it in later if it comes to me
- And all of FOX's debts

The entire deal was speculated to be worth about $60 Billion
and would be mostly completed through a stock trade which would give the Murdochs roughly about 5% of Disney while all the 21st Century Fox stock holders would trade out the remainder of their stock which I think including the Murdochs share was roughly 25% of Disney stock

I don't know how much of all that any of you care about, but this means that potentially Disney has just brought home the X-Men (& Deadpool) along with the Fantastic Four for Marvel Studios to play with.

Some may be worried that some of the upcoming X-Men movies might be cancelled or that we may never see some of them since they are rated R, but it's also reported that 21 Century Film/TV will remain autonomous like Marvel and Lucasfilm and Pixar, so they could still be releasing TV shows and movies under the 21st Century banner that Disney doesn't want directly under their own.

So we could still get the sequel to Logan, and a Deadpool 3 and a follow up to New Mutants, and maybe X-Force and all that depending on how Marvel Studios wants to handle the X-Men going forward past projects already in production (such as Dark Phoenix, which is supposedly taking place around the same time in history and also using Skrulls like the movie Captain Marvel)

this deal also gives Disney back the Star Wars: A New Hope (ep4) which could mean new OT untouched at some point, assuming it still exist. I know some SW fans will love that.

It also gives Disney distribution with Cameron directly for Avatar 2, 3, and 4 which pairs perfectly with their major investment in Avatar Land and Animal Kingdom.

Another interesting aspect of this whole deal is that Comcast was also seriously interesting in this deal for themselves, but the Murdochs never really entertained their offer. What's interesting about that is that Comcast owns NBC and Universal, who has the distribution right to The Hulk and I think Namor.
But that's not all, Universal is also the owner of Universal Studios, who has exclusive rights to Marvel characters in theme parks East of the Mississippi, meaning NO MARVEL at Disney World.
With all this newly acquired IP, maybe Comcast will finally make a deal with Disney so that Disney can get their rights back and make Marvel whole again.
I have no idea what Comcast would likely trade for, or what Disney would be willing to give up in exchange, but there plenty to deal with here.... and not just for Comcast, but for Sony who has Spider-Man rights, and to Paramount who holds rights to Indiana Jones.

Some of you may wonder what exactly is Disney supposed to do with all these Fox Properties, and what is gonna happen to my favorite shows that happen to com on FOX?

Well I imagine since FOX is keeping the FOX channel, all those same shows will still air on there, and 21 Century will continue to operate as normal (outside of maybe losing control of a few properties that belong to Marvel).
There could be a nice shake up in who is heading all of TV as ABC hasn't been doing the best, but the guy that runs FX/FXX might be a difference maker.

and as far as what happens with all these shows? Well don't forget that Disney is making their own competitor to Netflix, and they will also by 60% majority stake holders in HULU, so whatever doesn't fit on the former (fam-friendly) will likely end up on the other.

What do you guys think about this deal happening?

p.s. I didn't even mention the fact that all that sports stuff is gonna make Disney a MAJOR provider of sports going forwards since all of that will get rebranded as ESPN stuff
So this deal is pretty huge for Marvel, Lucasfilm, ESPN, possibly ABC as well as Disney as a whole.

p.s.s - and I didn't mention the comics and gaming side for Marvel at all....
Now Marvel can drop it's ban on Fantastic Four comics and creating NEW mutants for X-Men
this will also allow merchandising dept to start producing X-Men and F4 toys (X-Men Hot Toys could look dope)
and now all those Marvel games will be able to use X-Men and F4 characters again.
- so whenever Capcom decides to bring MvC:I over to the Switch, I expect a FULL roster of characters.

Originally, I believed that the FCC could assure internet openness through a determination of “commercial reasonableness” under Section 706 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. While a recent court decision seemed to draw a roadmap for using this approach, I became concerned that this relatively new concept might, down the road, be interpreted to mean what is reasonable for commercial interests, not consumers.

That is why I am proposing that the FCC use its Title II authority to implement and enforce open internet protections.

Using this authority, I am submitting to my colleagues the strongest open internet protections ever proposed by the FCC. These enforceable, bright-line rules will ban paid prioritization, and the blocking and throttling of lawful content and services. I propose to fully apply—for the first time ever—those bright-line rules to mobile broadband. My proposal assures the rights of internet users to go where they want, when they want, and the rights of innovators to introduce new products without asking anyone’s permission.

All of this can be accomplished while encouraging investment in broadband networks. To preserve incentives for broadband operators to invest in their networks, my proposal will modernize Title II, tailoring it for the 21st century, in order to provide returns necessary to construct competitive networks. For example, there will be no rate regulation, no tariffs, no last-mile unbundling. Over the last 21 years, the wireless industry has invested almost $300 billion under similar rules, proving that modernized Title II regulation can encourage investment and competition.

Congress wisely gave the FCC the power to update its rules to keep pace with innovation. Under that authority my proposal includes a general conduct rule that can be used to stop new and novel threats to the internet. This means the action we take will be strong enough and flexible enough not only to deal with the realities of today, but also to establish ground rules for the as yet unimagined.

The internet must be fast, fair and open. That is the message I’ve heard from consumers and innovators across this nation. That is the principle that has enabled the internet to become an unprecedented platform for innovation and human expression. And that is the lesson I learned heading a tech startup at the dawn of the internet age. The proposal I present to the commission will ensure the internet remains open, now and in the future, for all Americans

Of course the major telecoms are putting together their lawsuits, but this is still good news.Hopefully this also opens up the market for Google (and the companies they use) to push their gigabit internet nationwide.

EXCLUSIVE: Things have come to a standstill at Sony today, after the computers in New York and around the world were infiltrated by a hacker. As a precaution, computers in Los Angeles were shut down while the corporation deals with the breach. It has basically brought the whole global corporation to an electronic standstill. I’d heard that this began with a skull appearing on screens, and then a strangely ominous message telling users they’d been hacked by something called #GOP. It gets more bizarre as the message claims this is just the beginning and then threatens to release documents by 11 PM this evening. There is no reason given why this is happening, and no specific demands. Mentioned are websites in places around the world, some of which don’t even function. While Sony works this through, there are no corporate emails going in and out and you can’t use your computer and it’s hit or miss on whether calls are going to email. “We are down, completely paralyzed,” said a source. Waiting on reaction from Sony, but if you’re not getting your calls or emails returned from Culver City, don’t take it as an insult or reason to feel small. No comment from the studio.

To be perfectly honest though, I had an idea for something like this a very long time ago... but one flaw in the design of this one, is that it's latex underwear. So not only are you going to sweat under it (assuming you put it on before going out to avoid that awkward scenario of having to stop and put it on), but should you have to fart... it will be trapped with no where to go.

Nothing better than watching/feeling fart bubbles racing around your latex underwear like it was a game of Mario Farts.

Tarantino fielded a question from a fan [at SDCC] that hinted towards definite sci-fi work in the future:

If you had asked me a few years ago [about science fiction] I would have said: "Nah, not really, I don't know." But I have a little idea right now. It's a little flower, you know, like a bean sprout, but those tend to grow into stalks. So this is the first time I'll be able to say "maybe". It won't be a spaceship sci-fi, it'll be Earthbound.

Tarantino’s “Earthbound sci-fi” could mean anything from flesh-eating Amazoninan plants to Uma Thurman conducting a deep-sea exploration endeavor. But I guess we won’t know for a while.

The GamePad shows you what the robot sees, while the TV screen offers a zoomed-back view, letting onlookers — as well as you — admire your tromping, pummeling handiwork.

In another, titled Project Guard, the GamePad became a quick-jump map of a fortress manned by numbered, laser-firing security cameras. As robots encroach on different entry points, you have to tap the GamePad to leap from camera to camera, blasting enemies that trundle or come at you sprinting — even some that sneak under your radar. All the while, onlookers can shout out the numbers that correspond to robot-threatened camera feeds, turning your defense operations into a frenetic, heart-racing, tap-and-fire scramble.

And the third project? A game Nintendo fans have been waiting for a very long time to see: Star Fox is back, only reimagined on the Wii U using Miyamoto’s new GamePad-based controls — controls that’ll ask of players things they’ve never had to do before in a video game. Whether they’ll come willing or balk remains to be seen, but Miyamoto is convinced he’s on to a control scheme that’s not only novel, but with practice, indispensable.

I was having a debate about a female, and brought up my Female translation theory. To this she said I was "womanizing" to which I corrected her to say she thought I was being "chauvinistic", even though I followed it up with my Male Translation theory as well.


Female Translation Theory: When a male starts talking, there is a certain type of woman, that will take in everything that he is saying, but in their mind they will replace almost all the words with what they wanted to hear, or what they thought you were going to say...


so upon revisiting the conversation, the topic may be the same, but the recollection of debate is very different than what happened. Context is often removed as well as meaning.

Now that is not to say that only a female can have the female translation, or only a male will have the male translation, but generally, that is how I've seen it paired off, with a cross translation here or there.


Does this sound like something accurate, similar to something you've heard before, completely off-base, or just mildly amusing to hear as you've never thought or heard about it before?

Will we see a NEW NINTENDO tonite after the shareholder meeting?

Let's hope so.

Regarding the Buyback:

“That won’t merit shareholders, that’s why we decided on the buyback,” Iwata said yesterday. “But that’s not all the reason. We’ve been rewarding our shareholders mainly through high dividends, but we cannot generate as much profit as we used to make.”

Regarding the Salary Cut and the Wii U

“I’m concentrating my mind on how to rebuild Nintendo rather than how I would take responsibility when things don’t work out,” Iwata said.

“The Wii U isn’t in good shape,” Iwata said. “We’ll discuss how we will handle smartphones. What’s best to do in a short term is different from what’s best for us in a medium term.”

I'm guessing NOA & NOE won't become more independenly run though... which would suck, because it needs to happen.

The president has said he won’t step down after 12 years running the company, and has no plans to change managers in the near term.

lets's just hope that doesn't meant that, and that he will take a step back from the overseas markets and let those regions be their own antennas.

The Future of Marvel's Cinematic Universe:
-It has been mentioned that Marvel is looking to replace the use of Mutants in the Cinematic Universe with Inhumans. It is speculated that some characters that are not directly tied to X-Men but are originally mutants, may be rewritten as Inhumans to get around licensing snafu's.

Kevin Fiege - Head of Marvel - also stated that they have movies planned all the way through 2021, so I would expect a Phase 4 set of movies at the very least. *Fiege has also expressed interest in finally getting a Black Widow Solo movie out, which is now possible that he managed to wrestle away control of the MCU movies from Ike Perlmutter, who is still in control of MCU TV/Netflix production.
*This has led to the rumors that Kevin (MCU movies) & Ike (MCU TV/Netflix) continue to have bad blood, and it has become more likely that TV will not likely factor into the Movies to keep #itsallconnected from being a one way street as it has been up to this point, where storylines from the movies get mentioned and/or tied into by the tv shows, but not the other way around. This could all change w/ the upcoming Infinity War movies where the Russos reportedly have over 60 characters they have worked into the scripts.

Spider-Man - Marvel has worked out a deal with Sony where Marvel gets to creatively make the movies, while Sony still maintains ownership of the movie property. This works by Marvel Studios basically being hired by Sony as the creative and production team, while Sony get to foot the bill, handle distribution and reap the profits. Sony will of course be paying Marvel Studios their contracted production/creative fees, and possibly even mile-stone bonuses along the way. But the important thing here is that Marvel Studios is in control of what's happening w/ Spidey in the MCU and  related solo movies.

The Hulk - While Marvel has the production rights to produce a new Hulk movie, it is Universal who still has "first refusal" rights to the distribution of any Hulk titled movie. Which means if Marvel makes it, Universal get to accept or deny the rights to distribute it before Disney/Marvel can distribute it on their own. This is likely the biggest reason we have yet to see a second solo Hulk movie, but Hulk works well as a co-star for now, so we can wait.

and because I know someone will ask, here is a
list of Marvel's Properties that Marvel does not currently have the movie rights to:
X-Men (Fox) - this includes all mutants as well as the phrase "Mutant"
- apparently there is a loophole for certain characters that are not directly connected to X-Men such as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, but they cannot be referred to as "mutants" outside of their use with Fox and the X-Men property.

Fantastic 4 (Fox) - This also includes Galactus, Silver Surfer, Super Skrull & Annihilus. But Fox has to get this movie off the ground by Oct. 2014 otherwise the rights will revert back to Marvel like Daredevil and Ghost Rider before it. (There are rumors of production issues, but Fantastic Four 2 already has an announced date - 2017) **There were rumors of Marvel negotiating with Fox over TV rights to X-men properties, and these rumors also mentioned usage of F4 by Marvel... not sure if anything happened, but maybe at worst, Fox will work out a deal similar Sony did for Spider-man, at best they'll just give it up out-right in exchange for full X-men access (TV , merchandise, etc etc).**

***EDIT: Disney has Bought 21st Century FOX - this means X-Men and Fantastic Four will be returning to Marvel

Spider-Man (Sony) - Supposedly Marvel has been working behind the scenes to include Spider-Man in the MCU, which almost happened with a small acknowledgement in The Avengers, but sadly Sony couldn't get it together in time to make it happen.... maybe next time **see update above - next time has come **

Namor (Universal/Marvel?) - not sure what it takes to get this back, but as seeing that Universal has done nothing with it since they've had it, I assume that if Disney wanted it back, Universal might oblige. **Marvel technically has rights to Namor, and if a movie were to be made, it would be by Marvel Studios, BUT there are still lots of outside contracts to deal with before anything would ever break ground using the character, so don't expect Namor to just pop up in in a Marvel movie. It's more complicated than that a the moment.

After you werk one out, you go to close the window, but accidentally click the [Like] button during a small finger spasm while moving the mouse.

Nintendo Gaming / Fixing the Wii U - Top 5 Things you would implement/change/improve

I was just wondering, if you could take the product we received known as the Wii U and make some minor changes that would make significant differences, what would they be?
*don't just make a Kytim list, actually list out reasoning, implementation, examples, etc etc.*

We all know they need more games & better 3rd party relations, but that's not what I'm referring to in this thread.

I have a short list of things that I wished Nintendo would and (in some cases) probably still could implement that would make Wii U usage not only more pleasurable, but actually preferred going forward.
Nintendo often has good ideas, but they always only seem to take the idea halfway. Wii U could have done some really great things had Nintendo decided to see their ideas all the way through and not just take baby steps towards something that could have been great.

So these are some of my ideas that would push their ideas to where I think they should have gone


1. Real Multi-tasking.
- I Should be able to pull up Netflix in the Bigscreen using the Wii U as my media box and then pull up a VC game or the internet on the small screen at the same time. This should not interrupt my movie at all, as a matter of fact, I should be able to watch a movie on the big screen and actively search the Netflix database for other things to watch later/next at the same time, but I think that's more of an app issue than a Nintendo issue. We should be able to use Wii Mode on the big screen and still access Wii U features on the small screen.

2. TVii 2.0 - for realz this time.
- as it currently is, TVii is pretty pointless for me. It's no secret to that a lot of people used their consoles as media machines connected to their living room TV's, so let's kill 2 birds with 1 stone and turn the Wii U into an actual cable box, or a cable box companion. Plug the cable directly into it. now my TV guide should show up on the small screen, which would also be like a Universal remote to put Harmony to shame. Now I should have touch screen access to program DVR, change channels and skim channel discriptions all while watching TV. That's not to mention the TVii Chat you could do with the built in camera and touchscreen keyboard to keep most of the current TVii features.

3. Group Chat
- Miiverse is like a message board and the Chat program is completely separate from everything else. I actually still haven't used it, so I'm not even sure what it is exactly. But you should be able to party chat on the small screen while doing whatever else on the system. During a game, during Netflix, internet browsing, or just by itself. Shouldn't matter, group chat should be built in at the OS Level. Just like parental controls to limit viewing of other users. Let the parental safe guards do what they do, don't limit the hardware and software from potentially being great because you feel parents won't use the parental locks.

4. Universal Account System
- It's ridiculous in this day and age, with all the account based systems that came out and succeeded before the Wii even came out for us to still be stuck with a hardware attached system. Everyone that buys from the shop should have the option of creating a Club Nintendo Account(or joining the Family account) that your hardware and Digital purchased software will automatically register to. Now regardless of what Nintendo system I am on, Wii U, 3DS, Nintendo Infinity, or the DS Gameboy Deluxe, I will always have access to my purchased software.
Doing this could also allow me to access my account at a friends house on their Nintendo hardware were they would now be "demoing" software that may lead to them also making a purchase or because I bought a new system, or a replacement system and want to have access to all my stuff that I already purchased. It all makes too much sense for Nintendo to not have thought of this already, so I don't know why we still have the old outdated before it existed system that we still have to this day.

5. Spec Bump
- Low wattage is great and all, if you plan on making this a portable system at some point, and we all appreciate that you are looking out for our PG&E bill with system that clocks in at 60watts or less... but sometimes we need more power. The Wifi card that Nintendo uses is often really slow, which causes downloads to be slow and connection speeds to be slow. The low wattage CPU may be why load times are pretty slow. some of the features I suggested above are probably not fully realizable, atleast not how we imagine them, because there likely isn't enough RAM either, and that is probably also kinda slow. It would also be nice to enable 2+ Wii U Gamepads at the same time, but it's likely not happening sooner due to limitations in the wireless connection hardware.
So while low wattage may be a selling point to some, I'm gonna guess that the 10's of millions of consumers out there that own PS3's and/or X360's don't really give all that much of a damn.

I also realize how important it is for Nintendo to shave a few cents here and a few cents there, but the sacrifices they made for cost at this point were hardly worth install base they gained. A Wii U that was fully loaded and given near full potential of ability would easy have sold more than it has now @ a higher price of say $399.99. Limited implementation of features, or lack there of has kinda taken the latest gimmick and made it fall rather short of expectations. I really feel like a few more fully realized ideas could have made a whole world of difference for the Wii U.

and on that note, I would love to hear everyone else's thoughts and suggestions on the subject. What would you improve upon? what would you have changed? added? taken away? done completely different? or not at all?
