TalkBack / Re: Mario Kart Wii Launch Event Recap
« on: April 28, 2008, 12:06:47 AM »
Huh, when I went there for the Phantom Hourglass lunch, everything seemed well organized. Nobody had to play the game, participate in the tournament, or get a photo with Link to buy the game - just stand in line.

I think they must have been overwhelmed by the number of people that showed up for the event and panicked. All those "scavenger hunt" activities were just ways to make sure the sales counters didn't get mobbed by people.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: How much of your Wii library is 3rd party?
« on: March 22, 2008, 04:33:35 PM »
Let's see... I have:

1st Party (10)
Excite Truck
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Link's Crossbow Training
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Paper Mario
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Wii Play
Wii Sports

3rd Party (10)
Geometry Wars: Galaxies
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
MLB Power Pros
Mercury Meltdown Revolution
NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam

So there we go! I have an even split between my 1st and 3rd party Wii games at the moment!

The next three games I look to pick up are Okami, Mario Kart Wii, and Wii Fit, so 1st party games will pull ahead, but it's still a very close ratio.

AHHH! I can't believe I forgot to update the links here!

I sincerely apologize to anyone who was waiting for an updated version of the wallpaper.

4
Slight bump up for Falco update.

5
Huzzah! I got Photoshop reinstalled, so all of the wallpapers are updated! ;D

Ah, Gimp! I can't believe I didn't think of that! Thanks a lot!

7
Ah, awesome! Thank you very much.

I actually thought of downloading the trial versions of Photoshop and Illustrator, but I ran into an annoying problem.
Part of the files I installed was my user settings, and so the Installer for the trial versions keeps finding the database file from the original CS3 install and tells me that I have to use "the original installer," aka, the disc.

If only Adobe offered a demo version of CS3 Design Standard, then I would likely be able to download it and install with no problem.

Team Zelda Wallpaper (1280 x 1024)

Wow, that is a sweet wallpaper!

Would you by any chance be able to tell me where you found such a high quality image of Link's Brawl art?
Thanks!

Another small bump for the addition of Sheik and the Battlefield background!

10
Tiny bump!
I added Olimar to the Black and White versions now.

Thanks for all of the compliments everyone! I'm really happy with how the whole thing turned out.

Time to bump this waaaay back up in celebration of its first update in months!

TalkBack / RE: Viviendi, Activision Merge to Form Activision Blizzard
« on: December 02, 2007, 08:43:07 AM »
Wow, this bodes well for the next Guitar Hero!
Vivendi owns Universal Music Group, which I believe is the largest music business in the world, and now Activision has full access to their songs!

Didn't the Super Nintendo come with Super Mario World packed in at launch?
I know mine did, but I didn't get the console until 3 years after its launch, so I might be wrong.

Strong Bad Email'd!

Heh, I amuse myself.

I would actually contribute to this topic, but it seems I'm a bit late to do that.

I have no idea why I'm still awake at this hour. I have a 9:30 AM class!

Oh well, if I waste valuable sleep time, I might as well do something productive, right?
So now King Dedede has been added to the wallpaper!

Enjoy!

Sony keeps making blunders that are basically preventing me from ever wanting a PS3.

First of all, they didn't include rumble in the first version of the controller, denouncing rumble as a "last-gen feature," then later announce they're going to add it. With this kind of announcement, there's no way I'm going to purchase one until I get the real PS3 controller. At least when Nintendo realized they had problems with the Wii Remotes, they offered to send out better wrist straps and controller gloves.

Second, I'm unwilling to pay more than $400 for a game console. While the new 40 GB model is $400, they eliminated backwards compatibility altogether! I never had a PS2, so I want to be able to play some of the games I missed, like God of War and Metal Gear Solid 3. What happened to the PS3 being so much better than the 360 because of its "full backwards compatibility?" Now the only console that can claim that is Wii!

Ugh, at this rate I won't be buying a PS3 at all. I was leaning more towards purchasing a 360 anyway (though it's not like I can really afford either at the moment).

17
Um, I guess you could try eBay.
As far as I know, the only way anybody in the U.S. got it was through Nintendo Power.

18
Nice, now it's officially official!

My only close friend with a PS2 (I know, hard to believe, right?) only owns sports games and the Guitar Hero games, so I never even had a chance to play Okami, or any PS2 exclusive game for that matter (except Guitar Hero).

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Okami: the French say so.
« on: October 18, 2007, 10:35:28 AM »
Yes! I've been waiting forever for this kind of announcement.
I never owned a PS2, so I was really hoping for Okami to be ported to Wii.

Now we just need to persuade Kojima to put Metal Gear Solid 3 on Wii, and I'll have no more desire to purchase a PS2.
I mean, he's gotta pay Nintendo back for putting Snake in Brawl somehow, right?

20
That's just what we know for the costumes from the resources available. I'm sure they have all the costumes/colors for everyone already.

21
Oh, duh, I was thinking SquareSoft developed Super Mario RPG and Sin & Punishment. I have no idea why.
I guess Geno still has some chance though.

22
Really? There's a Sin & Punishment character?

Hm... Could that mean Geno is a playable character?

As for the source that confirmed Gardevoir:
http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200710/N07.1011.1649.57274.htm?Page=2

It's in the third paragraph.

23

It's almost like they want the public to have access to their press site.

It appears Nintendo has updated their Super Smash Bros. Brawl page on their press site today.
Most of the information is already known, however, I have noticed two new pieces of information.

1. Despite the delay, the game has in fact been rated Teen by the ESRB, citing "Cartoon Violence,Crude Humor."

2.
Quote

Game storyline: In multiplayer games, characters from all Nintendo universes meet up in Nintendo locales to duke it out. In the solo mode called "The Subspace Emissary," the world of Smash Bros. is invaded by an entity called the Ancient Minister and his army of creatures, called "The Primid." Normally, characters come alive in the world of Smash Bros. to do battle, then turn back into trophies when defeated. However, the Ancient Minister starts turning characters into trophies to harness their power, then detonates bombs that suck pieces of the world back into his realm of Subspace. Eventually, all the characters must work together to defeat the invading creatures from Subspace - this is accomplished by playing through side-scrolling levels.

I bolded the new information.
So now we have a better idea of what the Subspace Emissary is up to.

I don't know how interesting this is to anyone, but I figured any sort of new information was worth posting.
