I don't think Nintendo would let the files be stored on a PC, that opens too many doors to piracy.

Nintendo Discusses Revolution and WiFi article at IGN

The downloads will, as previously announced, be stored in flash memory. You'll be able to store games in the 512 megabytes built into the system, but should this fill up, you can transfer your downloads to an SD memory card and use your computer to manage the files. Iwata didn't elaborate, but did state that copy protection is in place (so don't expect to simply send downloaded game copies to your friends by e-mail).

How is transfering downloads from your revolution to your computer via an SD card safer than having the revolution wirelessly send that same data to your computer?

Answer: Its not! Obviously Nintendo feel that their copy protection software is good enough to stop people from emailing each other games they have downloaded so why cant they use the same technology to store game saves on your pc?

Not only this but you would never have to worry about upgrading the hdd or flash memory in your console.

Mario: All DRM vendors let you copy their files as much as you want. Because you can't use them anyway. The point of DRM is not to prevent copying for that is impossible but to make the file unreadable to anyone who doesn't legally own it (that means having the key or the server acknowledging that you can get the key).

Is the nes, snes, n64 emulators and the software to download game going to be on the the rev or a disk? If it on a disk than you can have it so only on that disk can play the game so copying it wouldn't matter.

Didn't Iwata say that there would be downloadable demos in his latest interview?  I'm pretty sure he did.

I would love downloadable demos but I think they should still offer discs for offline gamers.  It would seem kind of weird for Nintendo to be all "not enough people are online" this gen and then switch to only offering certain things online.  But then the download service is obviously online only so offline people are kind of screwed anyway.

You never know, they may decide to sell them separately somehow. That'd be cool, like you can order your own Rev disc with certain games you selected on it.

Iwata also discussed the Revolution's internal 512MB flash memory, which he said will be used for saving game data, downloading virtual console games, and for "expansion of the Revolution's capabilities." He didn't go into specifics regarding its connectivity to the DS, though he confirmed that users will be able to download demos for the handheld at home.
