TalkBack / RE: Virtual Console Mondays: December 25th
« on: December 26, 2006, 05:31:56 PM »
Heres a sad story (for me.)  I have now bought $110.00 worth of virtual console games.  What can I say, I love em.  I bought my wii for this.  Anything else is a bonus to me.  Super castlevania IV and rtype are among my favorite games, but of course I had to get mario as well.  In playing mario I noticed some strange white static in between levels.  "How sloppy!"  I said, that they would release a shoddy port of such a main title.  Of course come to find out when I went to zelda, and wii sports, the dots were there too.  Except 10 fold.  The graphics were completely screwed.  The wii was broken.  1 month and 6 days old.  Now I have to mail to nintendo to get repaired, and they are going to make me pay to redownload my $110.00 worth of virtual console games because they cant be copied to the new system they are going to give me.  Kinda makes even the diehard VC fans like me think twice before paying big bucks.

you must not have a hi def tv, or else there is something funny with your wii.  it is legible for me from 15 feet away (36" screen) and more so with use of the Zoom buttons it becomes not just legible but crystal clear.

Battletodas would indeed be great, but its a RARE game and due to the microsoft owning rare thing we may never see that one.

BUT CASTLEVANIA IV!!!!! YEA!!! my heart is soaring.  I cant wait to twirl my whip aimlessly for hours.  Super mario should have been out on day 1, but thank goodness its here.  Too bad they didnt break up the upgraded ones from super mario all stars and sell each one of those.  R-type for TG-16 is another must have!!!!  TG-16 games have really been excellent so far.  *knock on wood* they will release splatterhouse , galaga 90, and maybe klax.

WTF Nintendo!  OK, I don't particularly care for hudsons or segas release this week, but at least they are trying.  WHAT IS WITH ALL THESES HORRIBLE SPORTS GAMES?!?!?!  At least put on a FUN baseball game like Super Baseball 2020 or Bases Loaded or anything with some character.   It would be really nice to see some more SNES or N64 releases.  The lack of Castlevania IV and Super Mario World are gnawing at me, I mean they already got them overseas!

The wavebird is superior to classic controller anyway so play with one of those.  I found the Wiimote only option (Right hand) and the Nunchuck option to be quite nice.  It really feels like you are firing a weapon when you get to squeeze the trigger.  "Throwing" the grenades felt natural too.  But if you insist on old schooling it up the wavebird would be your best option.  I agree that the "tilt axis" motion schemes had some problems and felt like they were tacked on or gimmicky.

I bought this today.  It is everything I could have asked for and more.  All 7 Slugs on one disc?  Santa really does exist!  Oh yea and you can save your progress midlevel, and it has the option for infinite continues or limited.  I was afraid the Wii controls would feel tacked on or gimmicky but the control scheme where you actually use the trigger to fire your weapon and make a "throwing" motion to lob a grenade is just perfect.  Buy this now!
