I'm glad to see Donkey Kong Country Returns in the top ten, especially considering its limited appeal. It was available for only five days of tracking so that makes it all the more impressive. I wonder what the actual number is, though.

Wow at the PS3's hardware numbers...at least they announced Uncharted 3 today.

Also, Kinect is the top-selling accessory for November. Over/under 44.5% of those buyers bought it for Christmas and are in for a shock when it doesn't fit into their living room?

Wait - Wii Fit Plus is in the top ten, and that *doesn't* include versions bundled with the Balance Board?  Wow.

No, I think by "hardware" it just means game systems. It says it includes bundles, so I take that to mean the Balance Board accessory bundle. It's hard to say, though.

The important thing to take from those hardware numbers is that after a somewhat weak year, Wii sales are up slightly from November of last year. That's a lot more significant than the 360 beating it, especially in Nintendo's eyes.

But sadly for Nintendo, 360 is still up YTD for 2010

also looks like DKCR sold 430.5k this month in those 5 days.
could be a really good Dec for that game.

Nintendo shouldn't care that the 360 is up, though. It's not going to have any effect on them.

Skimming through some NPD data I came across an individual SKU list for Nov. NPD that I slightly modified.

01.) [360] Call of Duty Black Ops
02.) [PS3] Call fo Duty Black Ops
03.) [360] Assassin's Creed Brotherhood ~800k
04.) [Wii] Just Dance 2
05.) [360] Fable III
06.) [Wii] Donkey Kong Country Returns 430.5k
07.) [PS3] Gran Turismo 5
08.) [PS3] Assassin's Creed Brotherhood ~340k (1.14M - ~800k)
09.) [Wii] Wii Fit Plus
10.) [360] Halo Reach

The order may not be correct, but those are the games that made the Top 10

1up's posted the November NPDs:

1.  Call of Duty: Black Ops
2.  Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
3.  Just Dance 2
4.  Madden NFL 11
5.  Fable III
6.  Donkey Kong Country Returns
7.  Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
8.  Gran Turismo 5
9.  NBA 2K11
10.  Wii Fit Plus

I have to admit being a little perplexed by how high some games hit (Fable III and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood), as well as how low some games hit (DKCR and GT5).  Plus, man does Wii Fit Plus have long legs for that kind of game...   :confused;

I'm disappointed that DKCR sold as low as it apparently did, though with all these multiplatform games being combined now we don't know how well it really did).  It's a great game, probably my Wii Game of the Year.

Why? Except for Fable 3 all those games above DKCR are multiplatform (well except for Just Dance 2, but that game is selling to the casual gamers). So Fable 3 and DKCR are single platform releases and are one and two respectively when it comes to traditional games. From what I've read DKCR sold around 400k. Also it was released November 21st, so I'm not sure how that is doing anywhere close to badly or disappointing. Also take into consideration that Fable 3 was released in late october, chances are it will quickly tumble since it has gotten most of its sales already while DKCR will likely sell pretty consistently.

Multiplatform can't be a scape goat. Codblops for 360 sold more than any other game in the top 10. 430,500 for Donkey Kong is quite impressive if you ask me, especially since that's only a week's worth of sales.

My guess is that it will be just as high if not higher when December NPDs come out. Really I think there is little doubt the game will be a hit. Maybe not NSMB Wii type of hit, but still a million seller.

Oh it'll definitely be a million seller in North America by the end of December.  Every single major Nintendo November release for the Wii has increased it's sales in December.

Twilight Princes in 2006

November - 412K
December - 532.9K

Mario Galaxy in 2007

November - 1.12 million
December - 1.40 Million

Animal Crossing in 2008

November - Somewhere between 184k - 297k
December - 497K

New Super Mario Bros Wii in 2009

November - 1.39 million
December - 2.82 million

So yeah, based on how well all of Nintendo's other November titles have done Donkey Kong will have no problem crossing the one or even two million mark in North America by the end of the year.

Remember that Nintendo games aren't as front-loaded with their sales so they won't go quite as high as other games in their first week but they'l stay around for much longer.

So next week the Wii will likely pass the 11 million mark in Japan, pretty good.

more importantly ithe Wii could catch back up to the PS3 in YTD sales.

It looks like a close race for 1st place in both the handheld and home console sector between Sony & Nintendo for the year.

But what a 1.

Problem is that that 1 is the only thing keeping the PSP alive. If Nintendo would jsut go for the throat and moneyhat some MH love for the DS, then the PSP would've been dead a while ago. What would be even better is if Nintendo secured some MHp3D for the 3DS instead.

Even more importantly, the XBox 360 isn't out of the race against the DSi LL, and might pass it back up after the 3DS hits and the DSi LL goes off the market.

I don't know about that*, but the 360 should rest easy knowing that it's got a substantial lead on the PSPgo that it's not likely to ever lose.

*The 360 would have to sell 150% of everything it's sold this year just to be close to catching up.

I agree. As popular as the DS has been in Japan the last few years, I don't get why Capcom hasn't brought the MH franchise to it. Moneyhats or not.
