Nintendo Gaming / What will Zelda look like next time?
« on: February 18, 2003, 05:51:20 AM »
For better or worse, I think that the next game in the Legend of Zelda series is going to go for yet another new "look".   Any thoughts on what the next game might look like?  Or what you would like it to look like?

Nintendo Gaming / Will Zelda: Wind Waker break sales records?

An anime style Zelda might be possible for the next game in the series, assuming it looks "cooler"...I think that if Wind Waker does poorly                     in North America and Europe, Nintendo will definitely feel the pressure to make the design more mainstream...but I'm getting off topic.  This sounds like an interesting idea for a new thread.

I'd still like to see the game do well purely because I'm a fan of Zelda and Nintendo.

Ah yes, I still own this game, it was awesome!  It's too bad it didn't do better, because I thought this was an excellent concept for a 3D puzzle game.  A little too complicated for some people, I guess, but I thought it was perfect.

Nintendo Gaming / Will Zelda: Wind Waker break sales records?

I really wish it would break some records, but I don't have high hopes.  The game's sales in Japan were poor, the game was totally eclipsed by Mario Party 4 in sales.  Considering Zelda's new look, I don't think it will do much better in North America.  I personally love the game's graphic design, but I don't think it will achieve much mainstream success with older gamers.  Even though the game is great, a lot of people just can't look beyond the cartoon style, and I know hardcore gamers who haven't even looked at the game since it was first shown at Spaceworld!

Overall, I expect Zelda to do very well, but I don't think the sales will be record-breaking, in fact I don't think they will even meet Nintendo's expectations.  That's a shame for people like me who love the look of the game but hopefully Nintendo will learn something from it and improve the situation next time.
