I love that song. Operation Lollipop, here I come!

Want my Chainsaw Lollipop
On Wii U
'Cause Suda's games are fun and true!
Don't own an XBox, PS3,
Won't you port this game to me?
I need my

But Juliet, your chainsaw's sick,
On Wii U, let's kill zombies...

Crazy way your games play,
Rock and roll!
I'll buy them on Nintendo's console,
I'll reserve them and play through the night,
And hey, your boyfriend Nick's alright,
Please Chainsaw...

I nominate Kairon's song for this forum's "post of the month".

Or at least I would if this site had a "post of the month" contest, which it should... *hint hint*

I'll be interested to see if Persona 4 Golden ends up having any legs, or if it's yet another flash-in-the-pan game that ends up selling quite well for a week or two and then just vanishes from the chart (taking the Vita hardware sales with it).

If we did have such a contest, I, as King of the Forums Community Manager, would be in charge of it, and it would be incredibly corrupt.

The game ate up a large chunk of the current userbase. Under those circumstances, I can only see it having legs if the system itself sees a prolonged rise in sales.

And Vita drops like a rock again.  Right now, there isn't a announced game in the systems future planned for release in Japan that's anywhere close in popularity that Persona 4 was.

So the next several months are going to be very brutal for the Vita.

Well next week sees the release of the white Vita and the MGS Collection so there may be another increase.

And I believe in August(?) some sort of rhythm game called Natsune Miku is released. I think the last PSP game in the series sold 400k in Japan. But your right, Vita is in desperate need of some game announcements. And we thought the first year of the 3DS was dry.

So that's $122 million US in straight revenue from 9 days of sales in one country of one game on a dead platform.

Nintendo: Rocking the long tail since 1889.

Nintendo: Rocking the long tail since 1889.

This is why Nintendo didn't launch Pokemon B&W2 on the 3DS: Pokemon is their clean-up hitter franchise for handhelds and is best suited to an already-established user-base where it can really feed off of the trading and interaction possibilities.

Metal Gear Solid Collection Vita has sold worse than MGS3 3D. And the latter was released at a more expensive price.

If you own a Vita, you probably own a PS3 and the PS3 has a FAAAAAARR superior version of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.  I think that's the root of it, because normally Metal Gear sells hardware pretty well for Sony.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

I think that sums up the problem with Sony handhelds.  Sony treats their handhelds like some inferior portable version of their consoles.  Nintendo, however, treats their handhelds like unique systems with different exclusive games and experiences than their consoles.  Nobody wants a handheld version of a console where you need to rebuy the same games.  You either have to make something unique or make it so that the same physical games work on both the handheld and console.

You mean like the Sega Nomad? That idea didn't really go anywhere, but that's probably just because Sega didn't back it enough.

After the Genesis, Sega didn't back anything enough. They put their hands in too many pies.

I do believe that there are games coming out that if you buy one version, you get the counterpart on the PS3/Vita for free.

One potentially good thing about this "digital download only" future that we seem to be heading into is that if every game is a digital download then that should make cross-platform compatibility between handhelds and consoles more feasible. Obviously Disc based media is a poor choice on a portable, just as flash cards are a poor choice for consoles, but digital downloads work equally well on either.

I don't think it's really a feasible concept yet but it's really what people would want.  No one wants to buy the same game for the PS3 and Vita.  They want to buy ONE game and play it on both, like you buy ONE MP3 and use it on your PC and iPod or ONE DVD and it works on your home DVD player and your portable one.  It's either THAT or provide a different experience with the handheld.  No one wants something that's in between... like the PSP and Vita.

I thought that was already in the works? Admittedly, I could just be outright mistaken, or it could just be a few titles.

Some PS3/Vita games are already like that, but others aren't.
