As far as I know it hasn't been released in Japan. Sega is happy with the sales thus far in North America.

Well if  VGchartz is to be believed it is at 70k in America. Hopefully they ARE wrong about that though it still may have legs.

I was just watching a video on youtube about this very subject. COD:WaW started with 40 k in its first month. Now it crossed the 1 million mark a few weeks back. I believe COD:WaW was released in November of last year.So a few months from its opening sales to now is a nice jump.

Yep that sounds about right. Like I said while it maybe slow it doesn't mean anything on Wii. Both consumers and companies need to change their expectations on how a game sells from the norm which is illustrated by the 360/PS3 where most sales come from the first month or so.

I thought that only applied to "casual" games?

Every game on the Wii is casual, unless it sells under 100k, then it's proof that core games don't work on the platform.

The game has been dropped down to half price in the UK. Not sure if thats a good thing for the game, but its a good thing for the gamers that were waiting to buy the game.

It would be REALLY frustrating if the primary reason it dropped was because of the horrendously lazy PAL conversion.

Acording to VG Chartz it has sold 90k worldwide.
70k in America
20k in 'Others'

That 60hz fiasco really hurt European sales. Maybe if the game keeps selling well in the states they'll see how much they could have sold in PAL regions and issue a fix or at least a freaking response. I'm PO'd for my Euro gaming friends. It is disappointing that we have not heard anything from anywhere about this. Has any other news source reported on the issue at all or is this solely covered by NWR at the moment?

Then again for all we know those numbers are pulled out of someone's rear end.

I don't care about the 50Hz thing as much as I care about the decision to not even release it here.

Deutschland
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Ah, that is sad. I hear they are crazy strict on violence and what not in their games. I think they had an issue with one of the Command & Conquer games (Generals I think?) over terrorism references.

I was learning German a long while ago. I don't know how to spell anything though, just speaking words.

Adding new Pokemon and not overhauling the battle system constantly (looking at you, Final Fantasy). It's very accessible.

I think it is one of the reasons pokemon has staying power. Every generation Nintendo pushes the new monsters. You see the cartoons focus on the new characters and creatures and media blitzes so each new set of kids is exposed to the series. Sure there are those that stay with it to varying degrees, but new young consumers drive the pokemon sales in the US I believe. I would suspect that is the same in Japan but I do not know for sure.

I am forever amazed by the power of Monster Hunter in Japan. I think the PSP could be dead right now if it weren't for the MH games. Makes you wonder how the Wii MH game will affect Wii sales.

The console Monster Hunter games have medicore sales, even in Japan. Should still be a boost for Wii sales though.

True, I forgot about all of the little brats out there who are all "Mommy! Mommy! Buy me the poh-kay-mans!" and she goes out and buys all three versions because she's ignorant that they are all the same game.

I know there are a lot of adults who also buy the Pokemon games still because they are good RPGs. The Pokemon games are among the rare games that have something for everyone. If you just want the light battles and don't care about stats, you can play the game and enjoy it. If you love stats and stuff like EV's, breeding Pokemon over and over for the right stats and moves, etc. You can do that.

I buy all three versions (though I don't buy the two "initial" versions at the same time, I usually wait 6 months or so) and don't have to have my Mommy purchase them (charming use of the word "brats", btw). I don't have a really logical reason for this other then completeness, but one has to respect that if Nintendo hadn't made a huge amount of money off Pokemon in the late '90s, they might not have made it past the Cube generation and there certainly would be no more portables (the franchise single-handedly revived the Game Boy in the US at least).
