The Wii fit balance board alone will soon have lifetime sales that surpass the PS3.

Wii Fit continues to impress me. What a brilliant piece of marketing. Even if Miyamoto didn't intend it, it is the perfect title for the perfect time.

I'll be really surprised if they don't announce a sequel in the next two years.

January NPD results

Wii 679.2K
Nintendo DS 510.8K
Xbox 360 309K
PlayStation 3 203.2K
PSP 172.3K
PlayStation 2 101.2K

PS3 sales + PSP sales + PS2 sales = 476.7k
Nintendo Wii sales = 679.2k

Wii sales > All Playstation sales combined

Looks like Nintendo Wii is finally beating the Playstation Familyâ„¢. I wonder how Sony fanboys and anti-Nintendo websites and magazines are going to spin these numbers. They can no longer say the "Playstation Family" is the market leader. The fact they combined all the Sony system sales together just goes to show how desperate they are to "prove" Sony is still in the lead. It isn't fair, because Nintendo doesn't get all their systems combined together for the "Nintendo Family". If they did, they'd have kicked the Sony family's ass for like the last 3 years.

What is also amazing is how Miyamoto could be such a genius about Wii Fit, and yet his other project Wii Music ended up being a massive failure. What went wrong there? How could he be so right about one thing but so wrong about another? Was it because Wii Music didn't bundle itself with a music-based peripheral? Maybe what makes Wii Fit so great isn't the game but the board itself. Wii Fit should have included SOMETHING.

Well from what I understand Miyamoto had much more to do with Wii Fit, and though I do like Wii Music, Wii Fit is a much more useful "game" not to mention better designed overall.

Ymee: There's also a DS version, maybe that has something to do with it.

The dev interviews sounded like Miyamoto's only contributions were telling them to lose the (music) score display and increasing the song count from 10 to 50.

Glad to see COD:WaW WII hanging in the top 20.

I'll only be glad if this mean CoD:Modern Warfare 2 on Wii developed by Infinity Ward or hell Vicarious Visions(they did port Doom 3 on Xbox1 with good results), with an awesome online component that has Wii Speak support, and no modes cut out from the PS3/360/Mac(?)/PC versions.

Not saying that VV isn't doing a good job with Call of Duty on Wii, but I imagine Infinity Ward would have made WAW even better.

Activision needs to stop being a bitch, and give the developers the proper resources (money and dev kits) so that the same developers can make the same game for all 3 consoles. I guess I just assumed VV was Activision's "go-to" Wii team.

Ahahaha nope, Activision's go to Wii team is basically anybody from Activision stable of development houses or a small game development company starving for a game contract.

How did M&L 3 sneak out without my knowing?!  Pretty nice first week sales.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Yeah, but that's because Capcom didn't release that game for the system which is the market leader. If they did, it would probably be rivaling M&L for the number 1 slot.

What is also amazing is how Miyamoto could be such a genius about Wii Fit, and yet his other project Wii Music ended up being a massive failure. What went wrong there? How could he be so right about one thing but so wrong about another?

Just to be clear here, we're defining Miyamoto being "so right" as selling 14 million units worldwide over a year, and Miyamoto being "so wrong" as selling a paltry 2 million units worldwide over 2 months?

The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

Aren't those SFIV pretty low?

Yeah, but that's because Capcom didn't release that game for the system which is the market leader. If they did, it would probably be rivaling M&L for the number 1 slot.

They did make Capcom vs Tatsunoko for the Wii. No idea who got the better deal though.
