Hello all,

There been some interest in bringing SalesBot back.  I was wondering how much interest there was.  Due to some life things around here I haven't been able to keep everything up.  Though Now I think I'm at the point where I can pick things back up.  The downside though is that while I was down SalesBot has become rusty and needs a total overhaul to get to factory new.  If there is interest I'm more then willing to do the overhaul.

Well I've duct taped the older parser together.  I have a plan for some new features that will squeeze even more statistic information out of these numbers.  Those I will hopefully have soon.  As far as the back-end I have a total rewrite in mind using the latest technology.  This will probably take a couple months for planning and development.  Once done though it should make the Parser more resistant to current problems like parentheses and brackets in the title.  Also as a bonus will maybe allow me to have more statistics.  Now if I could automate the posting and abstraction of the data is an end goal but nothing but a pipe dream at current.

I hate to be the nay-sayer, but I'm not a big fan of Sales Bot.  It seems more of a data dump than any sort of meaningful report.  It takes way too much effort to sort through the data to extract any meaningful information.  I would much prefer a higher-level report that gives more general information as well as a little more detail on notable games.

If you do decide to bring him back, I would urge you to incorporate some of the new forum features such as tables, bullet points, and preformatted text.  Unless of course that requires way too much work, in which case ignore me.

I was over at VGchartz and they have the Wii at 30.01 million and 46.5 of the marketshare.
Japan has 6.49 million
America has 13.12 million
Others has 10.40 Million

The 360 has a even 20 million
The PS3 has 14.47 million
The only competitor ahead of Wii is the PSP at 36.75 million.

At this point in the PS2 life after 87 weeks had 16 million. It took the PS2 130 weeks to reach 30 million. For comparison how much did Nintendos past consoles sell?

Nintendo releases their Q1 Earnings.

As of the end of Q1, according to Nintendo the Wii has sold a total of 29.62 million units of hardware and the DS has sold a total of 77.54 million units.  And in terms of software, the Wii has sold 188.85 million units, while the DS has sold 406.19 million. 

In comparison, the Gamcube to this day according to Nintendo has only sold 21.74 million units in hardware and 208.56 million in software.  While the GBA has sold 81.24 million units in hardware and 376.94 million in software.

Oh and it should also be noted that Mario Kart Wii as of the end of Q1 according to Nintendo has sold 6.42 million copies worldwide.  That's right in only a few months Mario Kart Wii has sold close to 6.5 million copies and is still selling in every territory as well.  The way things are going Mario Kart Wii could easily end up being the best selling Mario Kart game of all time.

So at ~188 million software sales, and ~30 million hardware, that puts the attach rate at over 6 games per console, not too shabby, considering Microsoft is always bragging about theirs, which is at around 8 games ATM, I believe.

Actually when the forums first switched over I had something that fully exploited a lot of the new features.  Unfortunately it made things even more cluttered.  I have the segments break for the high level stuff below.  I try to keep it in segments so anyone wanting to look a the top 50 can or you could just jump to the bottom.

An another note, I don't know if anyone noticed, but the last time I had the last weeks rank there was a new feature that used the coloring of the new forums.  It put in Green games that had risen in the ranks, red for ones that had fallen, and black for new or games that stayed the same.  It also told which game rose and fell the most ranks.  Also if you hover over any of the abbreviated links in the top 50 you'll get there full name, ex PS3 show Playstation 3.  Once everythings done I have some other stats I want to show and I'm going to try the whole table thing again and hope it isn't as big of a mess as the last time I tried it.
