What? It's fact. Hotz hacked the PS3 for no reason other than to hack it. Sony removed the feature he used to do it, a feature which almost no one used anyways. In retaliation, a group of criminals hacked PSN and caused millions of people to not be able to play their games online or buy digital games for weeks.

Point A leads to Point B which leads to Point C. Point A is indirectly responsible for Point C.

Because they knew it would piss off a lot of people that support them. The evidence shows it was somebody at least affiliated with them. They obviously did not intend for it to go down the way it did.

I think it's more realistic to assume it was a group from somewhere like Russia or China looking for credit card numbers.

Yes I do poke, thats why I said what I said. Maybe I should clarify that it was someone in Anon who did it, but they dont want to take credit (because they know their largest supporters would turn on them)

One thing is that when they hacked the servers, they left a file named "Anonymous" with the words "We are Legion" (which is basically their motto, and the name of the documentary made about them).

One of the reasons I don't like Anon? One of their early attacks was going to a support forum for people suffering from epilepsy, and posted JavaScript code and flashing computer animations with the intention of triggering migraine headaches and seizures in photosensitive and pattern-sensitive epileptics.

And Anon did say that PSN attack could have been from one of their sub-groups.
