I would want the 30 seconders too.  Like the Mailman humming the getting an item tune.

I want the slow-paced music from when Midna/Link needs Zelda's help after being cursed after the 3rd dungeon.
Thanks for listening.

Hm... I registered three things on Nintendo.com the other day, so I get three free issues of NP, plus I can get a full subscription for only $12. I wonder if that would still get me the guide and the soundtrack.

Well I haven't got mines yet... maybe today I will.... has anyone actually receive it yet?

I might get the subscription, but the soundtrack only has 6 songs on it. I think I will wait for an import. Those are usually 2 disks.

Ooh, that would have been delicious. Yeah the soundtrack is on the short side, but I like six of the seven tracks on there.

How many tracks are on the CD?  I thought I heard it was only a partial soundtrack (I hope I'm wrong).  If it doesn't have the ending theme then I'm ripping my own!

I loved Player's Guides back in the day (we're talking early '90s).  The earliest ones that didn't deal with a specific game were cool (like the NES Game Atlas, Top Secret Passwords).  Super NES Guides were incredibly awesome - at least the first few (Mario Mania (which covered Super Mario World but had lots of other Mario info), A Link To The Past, I guess Super Metroid was cool too).

But at some point (sometime after Super Metroid) they didn't have as much original artwork and more factual errors...at least of the very few Player's Guides I saw after that.  At one point I wanted to collect the Player's Guides (hence my shelling out $100 Canadian for EarthBound at Canadian Tire even though I finished that game on a rental) but I didn't care anymore when it seemed like they were churning them out too quickly.

So does the Twilight Princess Player's Guide have cool artwork?

Yeah a lack of original content has hurt the more recent Player's Guides.  I still buy the Mario ones and they're fine, but they just don't have the same special element that came out of guides like Mario Mania or the Link's Awakening/A Link to the Past guides.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Forcing players guides as subscription gifts is what hurt the players guides.  Instead of being an item you'd want to go out and buy, it's turned into a crap free gift which means whoever's making them don't have to work as hard to make them special, since they'll end up in people's hands anyway, killing more trees.

The TP guide is a thick mofo.  It almost didn't fit in my small apartment mailbox with the Soundtrack CD nearly being bent to breakage.

So how many tracks are there, and what are they?  Is the soundtrack worth it?

I was nearly moved to tears when I finally heard the Zelda theme at the end.  Please tell me the end music is in there.

IS THIS SPOILER?

Track list:

Orchestra Piece #2
Hyrule Field Main Theme
Kakariko Village
Death Mountain
Ilia's Theme
Midna's Theme

Sorry Jon!  The bad news is: the aren't enough songs.  The good news is...they might all be orchestrated.  I only listened to it very briefly (I don't own them), but from what I heard they all sounded orchestrated....which is peculiar to say the least.  If they are in fact NOT orchestrated, then it's the best damn MIDI I've ever heard....

Something like 6 tracks, the same as the $40 piece of crap they're trying to sell at Target.

$40 for a short CD and a collector's box that can't even say closed?

or $20 for a short CD and a useless player's guide plus a 1-yr NP subscription?

DUHHHH YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO SPEND $30 ON OVERPRICED VC GAMES

Well, that sucks.  Look like I'll let my NP subscription run out a second time (and so shortly after the Wii release...the first time I gave up on NP was shortly after the GCN release).

Why couldn't NP be as cool as in 1991...when they gave out Dragon Warrior (NES) (a whole game!  And on cartridge too!) along with a little strategy handbook about the game with a year's subscription?  Or in 1992 when they gave out FOUR Player's Guides (the first ones, and they were good) with a year's subscription?

Nintendo's stock is at an all-time high...if they could afford those then, they can certainly afford Wii demo discs and Wii Points cards now.  Those would keep me subscribing for sure!

Well, consider that demo "discs" should no longer apply since we're in the "new" gen and we have the VC for distribution of promotional media.

So instead of waiting for the next awful NP issue and spending funds on disc manufacturing, we can just download and use a little bit of bandwidth.

You do realize that the "Hyrule Field" that was "released" last year sounds NOTHING like it does now, right?  Ilia's Theme has also been improved...
