Podcast Discussion / Re: PODCAST: Radio Free Nintendo: Episode 100
« on: May 30, 2008, 01:34:10 PM »
I'm re-listening to this episode again (because it's boring during downtime here at work)and i have to say that Subspace Emissary doesn't suck. You play it once and you forget about it. It's like the piece of gum that you are chewing while holding a chocolate bar: once you take it out of your mouth, don't bother chewing on it again because it won't taste as great. Besides, i think SSE is meant for people who do not want to play a 100 multiplayer games just to unlock a character or something like DDRMax for PS2. I'd rather just play through SSE to get the majority of characters and then jump into the net and play other people. My connection has been consistently decent and playable despite the fact that i have 3 computers and 2 game systems connected at all times.

I bought this game on day one, and still haven't brought myself to finish SSE.  It just feels like a chore.  I long, arduous, and unnecessary chore.  Each time I think about finishing it off, there's always something better to do, like washing the dishes.

Does anyone else find the humor a little flat when compared to the writing from Sam and Max Hit the Road back in the 90's?  Something just feel off.
That's kinda how I felt after playing the first season on the PC.

Maybe they lost a key writer.  Overall, the humor just doesn't seem as witty.

I just saw SSX Blur at Circuit City for 20 last night.  As a current owner of the title, I would definitely recommend the purchase.

I don't know what deal you guys have with him

No deal... he is my friend and gave permission to use the music.  I'm really glad that you like it, and I'll let him know that the podcast promotion is working.  :-)

Any other guitar dorks out there play along to the show's intro, as I sometimes find myself doing ?  It has a contagious rhythm.   ;)

I haven't played Smash in over a month as well, nice to know I'm not the only one not obsessed w/ it.  Been playing Mario Kart and Geometry Wars instead.

Nice job!  I really like that filtered bass melody you have in the middle of the track.

Definitely interested in Mad World.  Maybe Donnie Darko will be a hidden character.

Just finished this last night and I too feel a bit duped as well w/ the length.  Had it said "Lost Winds Episode 1" with a seven dollar price tag, that would have been just about right.  Considering the game ends with "To be continued", this is entirely appropriate.

Nevertheless, the game was fun, relaxing, and a new experience and I'd highly recommend it, even at its $10 price point.

I'm definitely picking this one up, but I'm going to wait a few weeks.  Perhaps the price will drop as Okami just did.

Additionally, Portal included a creepy, yet catchy pop song at the end.

Any world yet on whether Crosswords has history, pop culture hints, or specific crossword topics?  None of the other review sites mention this either.

Even if the graphics improve (which they should) the title and style of this game reek of blandness.  If it were not for the lack of FPS's on the Wii, this game would go unnoticed.

Well you could just go down the alphabet 1 letter at a time like I did on the hard ones, but that could be considered cheating.

I did the same thing on the "hard" mode.  Some of those clues were rediculous.

Do you hold the NY Times one like a book as well?  Is the interface as good as the Crosswords?

I've played through the entire demo, and I was really dissaapointed with the content in the puzzles.  All of the questions and hints were exceptionally bland, i.e. "____ of the ball", "another word for offensive - crude".

Most crosswords in the newspaper theses days are filled w/ history and pop culture questions, does the full game have these questions?  Can you pick which category to play?  If so, I'll probably pick it up.

I thought the demo was executed great, but the content was just plain dull.

I traded in Contra 4 (towards Boom Blox) the day after we recorded this show.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing w/ Smooth Moves, haven't played it in months, and any guest that does reacts w/ a "meh".

If this game has motion controls that work for all modes I'll definitely be picking it up!  The style reminds me of Extra Innings which is all all time fav baseball title.

I'm still having trouble beating all circuits on 150cc in MK Wii.  Has anyone tried the product below?  I'm wondering if it'll increase my performance.

Daverage, I have a myspace music account also, we should add each other and cross promote.

Very cool, I like the song "Journey of Perfection" the best.  I listen to a lot of electronic myself and like to dabble in it every now and then.  I've got a side project called "Tell Me Where The Bomb Is" where'd I'd like to develop tune's for games (myspace.com/tellmewhere).  A couple tunes for games on the page are "Third Times a Charm" and "Kung Fu Disco Fire".  The Third Time tune is the end song in the third game of an independent RPG called Lepan Khan and Kung Fu Disco Fire is reserved for a wacky side scroller or shmup.  Hopefully, better tunes are on the way.

I'm pretty sure that Evan is the sole reason that Hilary is still in the race.

Indeed!  Make her stop Evan, tell her the math just isn't there!
