Goddamn, "Luke Cage" is so good. I'll post more in depth impressions once I'm finished (currently on episode 6). For now, it's better than "Jessica Jones" but not better than either season of "Daredevil" (outside of music). To me, "Daredevil" is the gold standard for comic book shows.
On a side note, while I don't use a particular word that begins with the letter N, I'm weirdly relieved Marvel didn't censor or force Cheo Hodari Coker to compromise his vision and a superhero so deeply rooted in Harlem. That's how people speak and it would have felt inauthentic if the writers and actors danced around the word. "I don't even like these n****s, man." Unlike "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage" has more lighter moments.
It's also weird that Marvel's Netflix shows have better villains than most of the movies. Mahershala Ali is fucking killing it as Cornell Stokes/Cottonmouth in this show. His villain laugh is so deliciously arrogant and condescending. I only knew Ali from "House of Cards" in which he plays like the exact opposite kind of character. That's some damn good acting, man.
