I haven’t seen a movie in theaters in a long time, but Bert Macklin and His Wilderness Buddies in Outer Space is tempting me.

I caught this movie this morning - its definitely one of the better paced ones of all of them. It felt short and punchy rather than trying to drag.

Transformers 4 has a LOT to answer for, for bad pacing and being much too long.

Fun Fact: In the battle scene  towards the end they are running over a bridge. That is the Millennium Bridge in central london, outside the tate modern, where they were filmed. It's known by most people as the "wobbly bridge".

They do in the comics. Let them have that. Coulson's inner child is giddy right now.

and in other NEWS!!!!
The Black Panther Movie sounds like it is about to happen.
and Chadwick Boseman is likely the leading man to play T'Challa aka Black Panther.
http://www.enstarz.com/articles/42916/20140801/marvel-black-panther-casting-news-2014-get-on-up-actor-chadwick-boseman-to-play-iconic-superhero-may-have-spilled-the-beans-in-new-interview-video.htm
Quote
Chadwick Boseman, the actor who has played major icons like James Brown and Jackie Robinson, may be preparing to fill the shoes of another hero-- However this time, his role would be completely fictional.

During one of his promotional tour stops, he visited "The Breakfast Club" morning show in New York City to discuss how the movie came together, but was caught off guard when Charlamagne asked him if there was truth to the rumor that he would be cast as the T'Challa in Marvel's rumored "Black Panther" movie. Through a wide grin, changing his position, he replied, "Ahhh, I don't know anything about that... Until the contract is signed, I don't know." But, from his nervous disposition, the rumors of the film and his role in it may be true.

and in case you don't remember, this isn't the first time he got all uncomfortable when asked about this movie. This is the first time he indirectly confirmed that there is a movie though, and that he was up for it.
So I'm gonna go ahead and count this chicken before it hatches.
I'm even gonna predict it's date as Nov. 3rd 2017. mark it. I wrote it in pen.

edit:
This is an interview with Chadwick back in March 2014:
http://www.blackfilm.com/read/2014/03/chadwick-boseman-talks-comics-black-panther-green-lantern/
Quote
Could you see yourself playing Black Panther?

Chadwick Boseman: I could see myself doing anything in terms of comic book, action, or anything like that. Black Panther, in particular, I’m not going to answer that.

If not, then which character?

CB: Let me put to you this way. If it’s character driven, I’ll do it. As long as it’s character driven, I would love to do it. If it’s just you in a suit and you with powers, then it doesn’t interest me, no matter how big it is. As long as it’s character driven, I’m totally into it. If they could figure out how to do Black Panther and make it fit the original or adapt to the times we’re in now and be new and innovative and be character driven and has the sense of what the comic book is supposed to be, but not bound by it, then yes, of course, I would want to do it.

Just watched Guardians of the Galaxy, and it is every bit as good as people are saying it is, if not better. Definitely one of the best Marvel movies thus far - there's really not a single scene that feels out of place or that goes on too long. They explain just enough that they need to for people to understand (lets not pretend like this is a big franchise) and not waste any time doing so. And yes, it is very Star Wars-ish. I didn't expect it to be as funny as it was either - really everyone on the team (aside from Groot...mostly) has several good lines that will make most viewers laugh. From the commercials (so many commercials) you'd think they give away the whole movie, but they really don't. Yes, they basically do show the ending in the previews (like they did in The Amazing Spider-Man), but not what is actually happening in that scene (you just know that the line is coming up, though with a couple more words to make it even better). If you're on the fence, get the hell off of it and go see the movie.

And I'm glad I didn't read the spoilers for the post-credits scene, even though it is not hyping another Marvel movie (or is it?). It's not. Howard the Duck - no one saw that coming!

BTW they say Guardians will get $94 million for the weekend, making it the 3rd biggest weekend opening, and the biggest August opening ever. I still find it odd how they know Saturday night what the entire weekend take will be, and it's basically always right (or are box office numbers just VGChartz'ed and everyone accepts them?).

They extrapolate based on previous patterns and then adjust after final ticket sales, and they are usually quite accurate since they end up collecting about 95+% of ticket sale data domestically.

And I'm sitting the theater now. Not too many people, but it's Sunday morning, and I know prior that are going later in the week or next weekend instead, so hopefully it doesn't have a huge drop going into the second week.

And I will never understand why a theater with 75% open seats, people will huddle all in the middle and right in front of each other.

Movie ticket projections are the perfect example of how extrapolation works.  They do it a hundred times a year, and it only gets more accurate.

I'm back from the movies

It was good, really funny, but there were a few small issues.
I have to let all settle, but it's definite top 2 or 3.

And Howard the Duck looked stupid. I did not like his design at all.
And I also preferred the look of Thanos from the Avengers than in GotG.

I don't think your second spoiler'd part needs to be spoiler'd, but I agree, well at least I think I do. Though in the mid-credits of Avengers you only see his face from a profile view - actually if you compare screen shots he looks basically exactly the same, aside from different lighting in each scene.

No. His chin is most noticeable different, but it was modeled after a completely different person then.

The face just looked so much better in The Avengers.

I don't remember if this was mentioned or not, but Katee Sackoff had been teasing a new project she is filming and decided to tease us with 3 visual clues.

#1 - a full head and face cast... for a mask maybe?
https://twitter.com/kateesackhoff/status/495616285338656768

#2 - Looks maybe like dirty red and black leather?
https://twitter.com/kateesackhoff/status/495752449995837440

#3 - a veil? As in Mar-Vell. As in Captain Marvel?
https://mobile.twitter.com/kateesackhoff/status/496104425849909249

Well, what do you guys think?
Marvel related? Last minute One-Shot for Cap 2 DVD?

edit: I should also mention that she tweeted this a few days before she started with teasers

I'm wearing red leather to my meeting with @TheRealStanLee today, sorta just seemed appropriate.

edit: going off a new article:

I'm gonna have to assume that Katee is playing Capt Marvel for a cameo in Age of Ultron

do you have a link? I would like to completely ruin the surprise for myself. (or is that pure speculation?)

thanx.

edit: and a little something for those of us not knowledgeable enough to catch

Here's almost every Easter egg from Marvel's first eight films
Quote
None of Marvel Studios' films are entirely original. That isn't a criticism: the storyline and characters are adapted from years of comic books, films, TV shows, etc. Each film embraces the past with an insane number of Easter eggs that acknowledges both the source material and the other films in the wholly-interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a 13-minute montage, MTV breaks down all the Easter eggs from 2008's Iron Man through 2013's Thor: The Dark World— meaning no Captain America: The Winter Soldier, no Guardians of the Galaxy, and nothing from Marvel's Agents of SHIELD television show. Is it complete? "Absolutely not," say someone who knows comic books way better than us. But we still enjoyed watching.

And if you want to skip ahead to your favorite:

0:14 - Iron Man
2:03 - The Incredible Hulk
4:16 - Iron Man 2
5:42 - Thor
6:47 - Captain America: The First Avenger
8:09 - The Avengers
9:43 - Iron Man 3
10:50 - Thor: The Dark World
