The Wii needs Dragon Quest X. Too bad it's so far off...

The 3DS needs Monster Hunter, then it will stomp the PSP.

WII just needs games period.  Bought one new title (De Blob 2) this year and it looks like a couple more months before anything worthwhile :(

If they just would localized my poor JRPGs at least then I've something to play for awhile.

Wii Need Pikmin 2.

Wii should start an online petition.  Those always go somewhere.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

Even though I already have the European version, I'd buy it again if they released it here.

I think the 3DS selling poorly is a good thing.  Nintendo half-assed the DS launch and they were damn lucky that that didn't completely sink the system.  They look at that and look at a pretty half-assed Wii launch and get the idea that this is acceptable or maybe even a key part of a successful videogame system.  That is not the right lesson to learn - that you can half-ass it because enough suckers will buy it anyway.  That sort of attitude leads to a compromised product and inspires taking advantage of your customers.

So it's about time this bit them in the ass because it SHOULD have bit them in the ass with the DS launch.  Maybe next time they won't try to take advantage of us because it didn't work.  Their recent success has made them cocky so they needed to get slapped back down to Earth and be humbled.

I also wonder if all of their constant revisions of their handhelds has finally caught up to them and the 3DS is underselling because consumers finally clued in and figure the 3DS XP Lite is coming out down the line.  The DSi was an outright con and that probably did them no favours in customer goodwill either.

At this point, the 3DS is in no way in any serious trouble. If it's still not selling well during the holidays, once there's a much better software lineup for it (though I resent the accusation that what's there now is trash; I defy you to name a recent hardware launch with a significantly better lineup), then it's in serious trouble.

Nintendo half-assed the DS launch and they were damn lucky that that didn't completely sink the system.

The original DS also had a mediocre lukewarm performance until about 6 months later when Nintendogs and some other titles came out. But this time around Nintendogs is a launch title, so I guess Nintendo was thinking for that reason it should have had a strong performance right off the bat. It actually probably would have were it not for the steep $250 MSRP attached to it. I seriously think that's what is doing more harm right now than the library of games. $199 would have been a much more attractive price, and I'm sure they would have still been profitable with that.

Alright, how far back do you want to define as "recent", because if we can use just this console generation I'd easily nominate the 360?  I don't remember most of that system's launch lineup, but I do remember both Condemned: Criminal Origins and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion being 360 launch titles and both are excellent games for their respective genres.

Actually, looking at the list of games here, that's a pretty good list of titles in general for a console launch.

Oblivion's not on the list in the link you gave. I've never played Condemned, so I can't speak to that. Past that, it's largely sports games, which tend not to be that good in their first iteration on new hardware, and ports from other systems. It's probably better than the 3DS, but not by all that much, and I did say significantly better.

My point is, Pilotwings is fantastic, Ghost Recon and Ridge Racer are pretty good, and there are several other worthy titles as well. It's not a bad lineup at all.

Oblivion released in March of 2006, a good 4 months after the 360 came out.  Nintendo would call that "in the launch window", and for some reason I think Game Informer reviewed it at launch because I still have that issue.   ;)
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

Didn't the 360 launch with Call of Duty 2, PGR3, PDO, Kameo, and Amped.  Wasn't bad at all of the US launch the Japanese laucnh was a disaster though.

The 3DS highest rated game is SSF4 which was released a year+ prior.  Ghost Recon is second at 8.0 and the rest fall below that.  At least in Japan the 3DS got an Layton game :(

Still I don't think it's going matter much as long as the end-of-the-year titles come out.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a great game. It was actually one of the first games I got when I got my PS3 and I used the $50 promotional credit on Amazon towards that. It is made by the same company who made Fallout 3 and it also uses the same engine, so its like a medieval/fantasy version of Fallout 3. Check it out if you get a chance...

But I have to say it does have a large number of bugs and it also sucks that the PS3 version of it is completely devoid of trophies. I would recommend the 360 or PC version if possible.

The sequel Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is due for release in November of this year. There is a possibility it could get ported to the Cafe.

If it gets ported, it will most likely have whatever DLC they added in the year between the 360/PS3/PC versions and the Cafe version. Or there will be new content to be released alongside the part ala the Shivering Isles expansion (I think that was the case with Shivering Isles).

I defy you to name a recent hardware launch with a significantly better lineup

I can't but I think that launches in general have become pretty damn weak.  Though the PSP's wasn't bad but it had nothing to follow it up.  I think less effort is being made to have good launches because of the assumption that early adopters will buy the initial stock anyway.

I think what the 3DS is missing is a killer app.  You're going to buy a whole new system for Pilotwings, Steel Diver and a port of SFIV?  I'm not a fan of Wii Sports but I got why people liked it and it made sense that people would buy a whole system for it.  Note that on the SNES and N64 Pilotwings was a supporting launch title.  Mario sold you on the system and then Pilotwings was that other title you bought.
