I just saved this to a wishlist and noticed it is going for a lower price point ($50 US) which surprised me a little but seems appropriate. I think I will get it day 1 now.

This looks good and is one I don't already have so as long as there is a retail release I plan to pick this up.

Yeah, they probably need all hands on deck for MK9 to get out in the launch window for the next console.

Is the Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster doing what Metroid Prime did and launch digitally first with a physical version later? I can't find the cartridge for sale in the US.

I couldn't find the Switch 2 thread, and didn't feel like creating a new one, so I'll just bump this instead.

Apparently Switch 2 was demo'd using BotW remastered as a showcase.
Dev Kits are out and we can expect this to happen sometime next year.

I recently saw a similar PS3 collection of some of these games. Does anyone know how these compare?

This is very interesting to me. It occurred to me to use a holistic rubric for evaluating the quality of any game a few years ago. I did envision something similar but I was always too busy to actually carry it to fruition. I did have music, art, and controls on my list as well. Pacing was not one I had thought of so that is neat, and certainly a factor that affect the enjoyment of the game. I almost feel like you would want to use a different distribution for different genres but perhaps that would disrupt the whole idea. Any plans to perhaps share you actual .csv file for others to take a closer look?

So the current top twenty are the twenty highest rated games that you have played? What exactly is on your backlog, could we get a sneak peak of some of the 156?

Not sure what you mean by another pokepal community event though...?  ???

I thought that Pokepal had started both the Backlaugust and Shocktober themed topics on these forums and that someone else could find another topic that Pokepal had created before and carry it on in his absence.

36 sounds good, I mean that is more than one game per day. Of course we had 56 last year, but more of the heavy hitters stepped up. Personally I am happy with any month where I finish more than 4. I am still hoping to host Shocktober this year, but until then perhaps someone else can resurrect another community event Pokepal started  ;D

I have one (or two) more to get in before the month closes.

I did roll the credits on Yoshi's New Island on 3DS. I had been playing this for a while, mainly when traveling. I was 100% completing each level as I beat it but when I started running out of time with this month decided to skip the special levels in worlds 4-6. I also still need to beat the final boss level with full health. If you are not familiar with Yoshi games, this one has the usual three challenges: find the 5 flowers, collect the 20 red coins, and complete the level with full health. In the beginning I kept trying to do all three in one run, which feels great when you can, but for the more difficult levels it is better to focus on health or collectibles. The stereoscopic 3D looks great on this game and overall I had a great time. I would probably put this between Wooly World and Crafted World in terms of my personal ranking.

I also played Shadow Archer on Wii U. This is a high score game with no actual end as far as I can tell. There are new enemies that appear when you get to 5000, 10000, and 15000 points. At 15000 points you see Master Manny and once you have defeated him I would say you beat the game. Of course the game keeps going and Manny will appear again. Your only weapon is arrows, but there are four different types of arrow and you do have limited ammo. The game works well enough and while you are still seeing new enemy types, there is a real desire to push further in the game. Unfortunately, once that progression ends, so does the motivation to keep playing. My highest score was around 34,000 points. Like the other UltraDolphinRevolution games these are all locked on Wii U so you either have them now or you can't play them.

I have been playing LoZ:TotK like many of you but I could not even come close to finishing that. I think I am right before the fight with Gannon in the main quest, but I still have side quests and shrines to complete. I am getting near the end of the side quests (I think). I thought I was getting near the end of the shrines but apparently there are more than I thought. I want to at least complete those two categories before hanging up the towel.

I am also playing Sunset Overdrive on XBoxOne but I need another few weeks to wrap that up as well.

Hopefully Khushrenada and Rabicle magically reappear at the last moment with a long list of games to make us collectively look good this month  ;).

I'm with Khush and will be on media blackout until release. A few things always get through with the screenshots used in news articles, but I feel like I have already seen more than enough.

These games show an issue with the Genesis controller having only three main buttons, as whether or not Shinobi tosses a shuriken or slashes with his sword is based on distance to enemy, but it feels inconsistent and often still throws a shuriken at slash range. Having a separate sword button would have been ideal.
So jump is one button and shuriken/sword is another. What is the third button used for?

I really enjoyed the first three Trine games, but I never finished playing 4. It just wasn't the same without the 3D. Still, I will probably pick up 5 at some point.

I never really heard anything about this series so I wasn't sure what to expect, thinking maybe it was Sega's answer to Ninja Gaiden
I always thought the same thing. Definitely on my list of Sega franchises to one day visit.

Can't wait for this. I really enjoyed the Dig, Heist, Dig 2, and Quest games from Image and Form (Steamworld Tower Defense  is still in my backlog). As usual I am hoping there is a retail release.

They are up for pre-order now and they are being sold separately

Truly the end of an era. Martinet will always be my Mario!
Who does Martinet voice in Skyrim?

I picked up the other sets for Splatoon on their re-release, but I am hoping to get these on their first run.

The original game is still sitting in my wishlist. It sounds like I need to replace it with this one and hopefully get around to playing it this time.

Everyone can now rest easy as I have brought an end to the reaper threat by beating Mass Effect 3 on Wii U. This was my first foray into the Mass Effect franchise and if it were not ported to Wii U I would probably not have played it. I did enjoy the game despite how martial is was; there was enough sci-fi in there to keep me entertained. The production values were certainly high with loads of fully voiced cutscenes and big name actors. Even some of the menus were narrated. What makes this game stand out to me is the ability to make decisions, not just with dialogue, but with story as well. I actually had a decent amount of control over some parts of the story, which was neat. The missions are a little samey, but I mixed in with the other aspects of the game: searching for assets minigame, exploring the citadel and ship, etc. it stayed enjoyable. I though the length was just right as well, with my casual playtime clocking in around 37 hours. Since this was a Wii U game, you might be wondering about the Gamepad. It is used as an interactive map, and I found it quite helpful. You could see the terrain, allies, and enemies in real time and you could drag and drop your party members' icons to direct them to different areas without pausing the action. Will I play another Mass Effect game? probably not, but I had a good time here.

As you can see I did figure out how to export screenshots from Wii U by pausing the game and going to the Internet browser, but this doesn't seem to work with the 3DS. Anybody know how to get screenshots from the 3DS without Miiverse?

I am curious what control options are there in the game? Specifically, are there touch screen or motion control options? I was really hoping for online multiplayer with this version. The co-op missions in 3 made me think that the 4 would really lean into that.

There are also open pre-orders for a physical switch version (regular, special, and ultimate editions) at Limited Run Games.

Well, without broodwars it looks like it is up to me to include some Sony greatness in this here event. I completed Concrete Genie on PS4 last night. The game is rather brief and I completed it in two nights, probably about 8 hours. I was able to get all trophies including the 3 PSVR trophies. The PSVR mode is rather ancillary and I would recommend it be saved for last, but it's also a really cool experience. The picture on the bottom is from the VR mode.
In fact, I picked this game up because I thought it was primarily a VR experience, but I am glad I did because it is a really cool story with some nice level design and plenty of stuff to collect. There is decent use of motion controls here, though my controllers were giving me a little trouble and disconnecting. Essentially you go around the town and paint things back to life. There is some good puzzle platforming and the eponymous genies have various powers that help you out. In addition to designing the way the genies look, they are cute and want to play and interact with the environment so I really appreciated them as entities.
It looks like the development studio (PixelOpus) was shut down by Sony. In fact their other game (Entwined) is not available for purchase  :(. Oh well, I am sure these talented folks will end up working on something else.
