Films with Hidden Messages
« on: May 02, 2012, 12:52:20 AM »
Check out this video of the trailer for the upcoming Dark Knight Rises and the hidden messages found within the trailer. It deals a whole lot with the NWO and conspiracy theories based around the illumnati and the bad economy.

Which was a very well done trailer. Probably the best one since the second Prometheus trailer.

Robocop was about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. You think I'm joking now, but rewatch it and count the occasions of obvious symbolism.

edit: Also, in before some Disney bullshit with hidden dicks

I don't think that Robocop is *about* Jesus, rather than it is a story like the story of the religious figure. he never said Robocop was based on Jesus, he said he was an American Jesus, point being, he does not save anyone and kills Dick Jones at the end as soon as he is fired. It's not a retelling of the story, or containing a secret religious message, just the character Murphy/Robocop's story is a "Jesus story."

At least that's what I think (and hope, since Robocop is one of my favorite movies).

Also, Robocop is a sci-fi version of Jesus Christ. Murphy's death at the middle part of the film is quite similar to the crucifixtion of Christ. The blasting off of his hand by Boddicker represents being nailed to the cross. The severed right arm represents the bairing of the cross. Being hammedred by the shotguns is Murpghy being whipped (notice the laceration during the ER scene). Finally, the gunshot to Murphy's head is his crown of thorns.

Robocop is one giant religious allegory, and notice the director of film, Paul Verhoven, has a history of making films that have a strong sense of humanity and Christianity.

Dick Jones is Robocop's version of Satan and the Old Man/CEO is God. Notice that Jones is driven by pride and jealousy towards Bob Morton, a common man in OCP. The end of the film is similar to the biblical fall of Satan in which he, or in this case Jones, rebells against God, or the old man, and is stripped of power and thrown out of Heaven, or OCP, and falls to the earth.

The Savior Christ Allegory is a common trope in fiction. It's encoded in our DNA like a Jungian archetype. The Dark Knight Rises trailer I posted even has Christ like overtones.

The Robocop series was also a swipe at the Reagan era of America. During that time there was much controversy going on about the privatization of public services. The Robocop film delt with the concept of a police force that functioned like a business. The film also dealt with the idea of American corporations "planned obsolescence," which was the idea of making a product fail on purpose in order to drive up demand for said product. The ED-209 robot was the poster child of this concept. What is scary of all is the fact that Murphy being transformed into a cyborg hints at the concept of planned absolescen begining to form on people, and that is one major theme in the film: humanity overcoming the machine.

At first glance the Robocop series would appear as a anti-Capitalism. It gives a warning to the viewer of the dangers in allowing corporations too much power in society. Granted the film is about anti-crony capitalism. The second film deals with OCP taking over Detroit. This is fascism, which is the merger of corporate and government powers.

Does WALL-E count as a film with a subtext about human dependency on technology?

It's not really hidden, but I wrote a paper in high school about how Star Trek VI is an allegory for the end of the cold war.

No because that's the most obvious thing ever. It's not subtext, it's the whole story of the movie.

Samuel Jackson will be the first to fall when black males rise up against their suppressors (their moms).
