It's a tight enough group that I can comfortably commentate, I think. I'm predicting a Zelda theme victory, with Mario as my next prediction. There are still some strong underdogs though and some really tough calls IMO right now. What is pleather and why would you eat it??

I'm excited to see how World of Goo vs Hardman, Gerudo Valley vs Airman, and my favorite Guilty Gear song vs Wily turn out... (check out dis hype Hardman remix : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SofteUKdyAY )

Can't pick between Megaman 3 Wily Castle and Pleather for Breakfast. Both are excellent songs.I flipped a coin and I resolved it.

SUPER I looked up pleather and it is a slang word for synthetic leather. Plastic and leather are the words that the word Pleather derives from.

I listened to at least part of every song before voting in the last round. There were a few surprises--I still really like that Tekken 5 song, despite hating the series--but mostly I chose exactly what I thought I would--the games I'm most familiar with.

Face it, chiptunes hold special places in gamers' hearts. Everybody knows and loves at least a dozen NES and SNES songs. They're ingrained into our brain. They're designed to be catchy. Modern music is generally designed to create an atmosphere and it just doesn't work as well if you're not playing the actual game at that moment. It's just some dull orchestral music or bland techno beats.

Guilty as charged. I skipped over the choices where I hadn't heard either one, but for some of them, I just picked the one I was familiar with.

I'm in the opposite boat. Each round (especially the first) I made sure to listen to each song, even if i was familiar with it, to at least the halfway point. Some decisions took several minutes, it's a pain but I did my best to put bias/nostalgia for series aside. I'm glad its almost over!

Seriously, there are more than a few games on there I've either never played, or only ever played a few times (not enough to remember) that I voted for. Double Dragon, for example, was one of those games friends or cousins had that i'd play as a kid but I never owned myself or put much play time into in order to have any feeling of nostalgia connected to the music.

No, but it's gotten a free ride it didn't need while some other songs I really like were knocked out early.

Honestly, I tend not to pay as much attention to game music as some of you seem to, so I tend to lean towards iconic chip tunes because these are the few songs that stick out in my mind. The rest is all just background noise.

I can understand that, I'm the same way with regular music. Besides a few iconic sings, I wouldn't really recognize or care much for most songs and music groups. It's all just background noise on my way to and from work.
