Error message PLEASE READ!
« on: October 06, 2004, 10:43:41 PM »
Anyone out ther who can help me?? I bought gamecube 5 days ago and I love it, but why the f****** hell did that error message show up?? I loaded a save game in resident evil zero and the text that comes everytime you load a game pops up, but just after it was finished that f****** error message showed up... I hate such things on my brand new equipment....In the manual it says that it's an internal problem, but everything works fine after I restarted.. The disc is BRAND new and the cube has NEVER been injured or damaged...
-Should I worry??
-Am I overreacting??

UPDATE:

Well, well.... I got my gamecube exchanged for a new one, but that f****** message just keep coming... This time on Resident evil 1....Hell, the discs are TOP notch and my system is now only 2 days old... OK, WHAT THE F*** IS THE PROBLEM HERE?????

Thanks in advance guys....

Defective Cube.  Return to store and exchange it for a new one.

I've no clue what's wrong. Be sure to save the receipts and warranty slip in a safe place.

It sounds like you're talking about a "disk read error". A DRE is like a heart attack for a disk-based console. PS2's are notorious for them. They happen more and more often as your PS2 gets older. It means that your laser heads and whatnot are wearing out, usually because Sony made them cheap.

If your GameCube had one already, and it's only 5 days old, then there must be something defective with it.

Well we all know the GC system are good, but as with all electronic hardware some of this units come defective. How many times have OEMs bought computer parts just to go back to the store to return them because they are broken ( this happends a lot). So if you saved your receipts go back to the store and if they cant help you (which they should) call Nintendo im sure they will help you. A friend of mine had his cube broke and the Big N send a UPS guy to pick the system at no extra charge. A week later he had his cube fixed and at home. This shows you how responsible Nintendo is with their customers.

My PS2 is made of Superman's groin. Two disc read errors in almost four years. Also, how does one injure a GameCube? Mentally?

You say this problem happens when you load a game? Sounds like a defective memory card to me.

What does the error message actually say?

Did you perhaps touch the lens while inserting the disk? Or jam something into the cooling vents? Power outlet causing power surges? Long hair carpet is unhealthy, too.
