I ran into this, your character strikes a wish pose if done correctly.  So, not only do you need quick reflexes, but you can't be next to anything that you can interact with.  Also, seems that you can only get one gift a night, no matter how many stars you see.  I hit about 5 stars but only received one gift the following day.  (3 of the stars flew by in less than a 2 min span!)

Update on "bell" trees:

Planted 2, 6000 bell trees.  Neither has produced anything after 1 week.  Buddy had planted several 6K trees and only got one with any cash (3 bags of 30K).  Not sure if room luck has anything to do with it.  I've heard that the amount is directly proportional to the percent chance of getting results (so 6K for 6%... up to 99K for 99%).  Does that mean it's best to bury 50K for a 50% chance to double up?  Even then 3 bags of 30K is 90K so it's not really double and it would not work to your advantage.  Maybe luck increases the payoff?

I'm having a problem with my Animal Crossing Wi-Fi if anyone can help...

I can pull up the Wi-Fi connection, locate a friend online, but every time I try to connect to that friend, I get the "86420" error.  I tried opening up the correct ports on the router, but nothing seems to work.  Mario Kart and Tony Hawk work just fine for me, though...

Do you think the fact that I bought it used has anything to do with my problem?  I did erase the prior data.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's a sporadic and very hard to understand error.  It tends to be more of troublesome when trying to play with people several time zones away, but I even had it come up with my girlfriend who was sitting right next to me at the time.  Chances are that if you're connecting to WFC, your router's not the issue.  The best thing to do is try again at a later time or try to connect to some other people.

I'll have to retry this to get the error number, but a similar thing happens to me when I try to connect with one person.  It's strange, I can get into some friends' towns just find, but there's one that I never can.  I see him on the list and I try to connect, but it never works.  Same when he tries to get into my town.  The thing is, the same thing happens with MKDS.  We see each other connect and search, but we just can't make that connection to start playing.  Furthermore, we've been to each other's houses and connection via WiFi there, so we know it's not out DS's having problems communicating with each other.

My guess is that there's something up between our routers.  We're fine otherwise, but when connecting to each other it fails.  We basically have the same router as well, same company and very similar model (which I've forgotten right now =o).  Very strange indeed!

Does anyone have any tips for catching bees?  I was able to do it with ease in the GameCube version, not quite sure what's different here...

Go into the menu, and get out your net. The bees circle around your head in a pattern of sorts. You pretty much have to regocnise the pattern and when the seem to be further away from your face is when you strike. It's harder than the GC version and I have only been able to catch like 5 in my time.

I've only caught one, but that's because I don't carry my net with me anywhere. Damn Winter, there are no bugs anywhere ever.

No, you have to jump into your menu and switch to the net.  The good thing is you can't be stung while in menu.  Then you need to press a button to switch button mode, watch the pattern as mentioned above, tap B to get out of the menu and start pressing A to hopefully get a swing in.  Still very rare that you're successful.

That's what I've been doing.  I just got the game today, and I've had five (deliberate) encounters with bees already.  I switch to the menu, take out my net, but the second I exit the menu, I'm unable to do anything since I'm already being stung.

Yeah, that's just a matter of timing.  Sometimes I can't do anything.  Sometimes I swing and miss @_@.  And then every once in a while, I get a bee.  Just start tapping A as soon as you can.

Okay, I have another question...so this mouse lady keeps wanting to come to my house.  I keep telling her yeah, go ahead, and I give her a time.  And I wait in my house at that time...and she never comes.  Then when I talk to her, she gets all sad cuz she thinks I forgot.  I juts promised her she could come to my house again.  What do I do?  Go talk to her at that time?

I think you need to be in your house like 5/10 minutes before the time you told her and then wait like another 5/10 minutes still inside your house and she should show up.

So far I'm only had one resident come visit me, and it was the mouse lady (Melba)

Your probably waiting in an interactive state... such as sitting in a chair.  You have to be waiting, standing in the main room at any point when the clock reads the exact time you set earlier.  You don't have to show up early.  I've walked in at the exact min they were supposed to show up and they just show up right behind you (and litterally walk up to your face )

I was waiting once, as I was a min early, seated in a chair.  When the time came by, nothing happened.  As soon as a hopped out of my chair I got the knock at the door.
