Nintendo Gaming / Summer Drought.
« on: May 14, 2003, 03:28:37 PM »
Nothing is lined up for the summer from Nintendo. Nothing good.

Are they insane or just stupid? American kids get out from school during the summer and they have nothing better to do than PLAY GAMES. This should be the second most packed time besides Christmas. ARGH.

At least last year we had Eternal Darkness in June.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Geist: Coolest game style ever!

This games graphics are above average, but not fantastic.

However, keep in mind that at the same stage in Prime's development, it looked far, far worse.

If Nintendo pumps as much juice into this as they could (and they SHOULD: a hardcore FPS that totally rocked is what really draws in the American market), it could be just as good as Prime or better. I say better because I don't care for First Person "Adventure".

Nintendo Gaming / Star Fox Armada: MIA

I have a feeling that F-Zero, MKD, and SF:A will be the highlights and "big names" of E3.

Or perhaps a mystery title?

Also, someone said that a racing game is easier to make than a flight/adventure game.

FOR THE LAST TIME, SF:A HAS ABSOLUTELY NO ADVENTURE IN IT.
And if I eat my words, and it does have adventure, well, suicide looks nice.

I'd also like to see some levels where you can switch vehicles as you go.  You could start a level with the tank and then have it morph into the Arwing at a key point.  In fact having vehicle morphing in certain missions would add a lot of strategy.

You could morph your vehicle in the unreleased Starfox 2 for SNES. Starfox 2 was always all range mode though, which kind of sucks because I like the space rail shooting.

but rather then saying the snes versions were better than the n64 games
i think this is the reason why you hold them closer to your heart:

they were brand new original games, the n64 games were sequels
the n64 games...you knew what it was gonna be like and it wasn't something
brand new to your imagination...

I liked MK64 over MK SNES, but SF64 is definitely inferior in gameplay to SF SNES. I'm not exactly sure why, considering the N64 version had things like textures, lighting, voices, new vehicles, new gameplay modes, etc... but for some reason I always have more fun with the snes version.

My brother, a senior in college, agrees with me that the snes version is better than sf64. It's rather odd.

As for adventuring...
I sincerely hope there is absolutely no adventuring at all. Starfox is an arcade shooter and it doesnt belong as an adventure except in spinoffs. I'm hopeful that Namco will hold true to the star fox series.

Also, F-zero is looking fine and didn't Sega start about the same time as Namco?
Maybe Namco put it on the back burner or something?
I sure hope not. I *NEED* this game.

TalkBack / Mario Kart on GameCube Details

I'm mostly complaining about the kart design style. The designs of old were cool, these are stupid.

Also, regarding it not being 'bad' but 'new' and 'different'...
I'm all for new and different games. But I'd also like straight updates of my favorite franchises. I'd rather they leave the innovation to brand new franchises instead of screwing around with old franchises.

But it's not really the kiddy style that gets me either, it's the crappy kiddy style. Monkey Ball is of course, the ... game in my library, but also my favorite.

I hated Celda too. And don't think I just didn't play it; I started on it, got about 7 hours in, and quit because I got Splinter Cell for my PC. I did this mostly because I was fed up with the flying cel shaded crap all over the TV. Splinter Cell, now *THAT* is a fun game.

This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Mario kart was my favorite series next to Star Fox, and they just bastardized it into something I'll absolutely never buy. Thank god Nintendo isn't making the next Star Fox.. I no longer have any faith in their handling of franchises.

Every old franchise on Gamecube has sucked except Metroid Prime.

Sorely disappointed.

its game of the year for a reason...

it is by FAR the best game i've played this year

too bad you bought a mac!

they had an xbox version in the works but im pretty sure they cancelled it because xbox couldnt handle it. (PCs advance constantly while consoles only slightly jump ahead of PCs for a few months when they come out, so it's like trying to run a very resource intensive game on an ancient computer)

We will never see Doom3 on Xbox. My computer can't even run D3, and Xbox is significantly inferior to my PC.
