Mafia XLIX: Mafia Party II, Turn 4, Toad's Midway Madness
« on: March 31, 2011, 01:02:27 AM »
Another round of games was coming to a close, with the loser of this next match being taken out of the competition.

Mario and the gang were in the middle of a kart race, each one aggressively vying to stay out of the last place. As Optimus Prime drifted around the last corner and sped toward the finish, it looked like he was going to cross before Waluigi had a chance to pass him. Suddenly, rocks rolled down the hill and onto the track, covering up Optimus Prime and burying him. Optimus Prime, AKA the Mafia goon, was buried in a landslide.

After Waluigi crosses the finish line with ease, the winners are congratulated, and the gang heads over to the refreshment table for drinks and cake. Nickmitch reaches for the last piece of chocolate cake, but it is quickly grabbed by Yoshi.

"Hey, I wanted that!" Nickmitch yelled at the green dino.

Yoshi responded by gulping the cake down. Nickmicth was flustered, but he overheard someone mention that they had just finished baking up another chocolate cake. He couldn't wait to have some, and fresh from the oven cake was just the best, so he left the group and moseyed into the kitchen. When he walked through the doors, no one was around, but a big chocolate cake sat on a table in the center of the room. He licked his lipped, then hurried over to the cake, picked some up with his hand, and chomped it down. As he was gorging himself, an unseen figure rushed up to him and pushed him, causing him to stumble backwards and fall into the open oven behind him. Before he could react, the oven door was slammed shut.

A little while later, Peach came into the kitchen to grab the cake, and smelled something delicious coming from the oven. She opened it up to discover Nickmitch's baked corpse, and screamed at the top of her lungs.

Mario came running in to see what was the matter. "Mama mia! Nickmitch the townie has been baked! Clearly this is the work of one of Bowser's goons! But why does he smell so good?"

It was so hard to figure out who was telling the truth from all those PM screenshots.  Go us! We're super-sleuths.

It's allowed, but it's completely stupid and frowned upon.  Essentially, stevey had the investigation space the first round, investigated Bustin, and then sent a screenshot of the results to Maxi, who then transferred them to everyone.  Because people (actually just vudu, jrlibrarian, and me) didn't like it, we all publicly voted out Maxi. Vudu was killed by the bomb Maxi had been playing with.

Long story short: If you spread screenshots around, real or fake, of things like investigation results and role messages, you will be targeted, even if no one thinks you're mafia.

So, now we know Bustin was mafia. I need to go through his previous voting history and see if there is a pattern with other players...

I thought each Host could choose to ban or permit screencaps at their choosing? I know it's frowned upon but is there any rule on the matter? I only remmeber it explicitly being banned in one game.

That's right.  It's typically frowned upon unless it's outright banned.

I was under the impression that it was "banned" but there is no way to enforce it. It kind of defeats the purpose of the game, since you have to figure out if what people say is true just on their word. If that's the case though, no more screencaps please.

I never saw said screenshots and was just playing the numbers game.

Well, Now it gets harder.  I'm thinking this might be a close vote, and actually we should maybe try to keep it close to make sure everyone picks a side.  Just an idea.  Anyone have vote changing power?

I think it's pretty clear by now he missed the hit on day 2.  I'd imagine the story would have mentioned if a hit failed because the target was protected, so I don't think the mafia went after stevey.

Did anyone investigate Stratos and find he was a townie?

Well, day 1 I don't think it got any traction.  Day 2 everyone was voting against him until thatguy changed his vote and jrlibrarian voted for maxi.  Toruresu supposedly got the information from Maxi but didn't vote against bustin.  For that reason I think I'll change my vote.

Quote from: Toruresu
Alright. This is what Maxi "has" on bustin:

1. stevey pmd Maxi that he used his investigation on bustin and turns out bustins Mafia.
2. bustin sent Maxi a pm sent by the host, with the role/square information and it is different from the one posted in the official rules.
3. bustin sent Maxi another forwarded msg about his role, the date stamp was not correct. bustin says he copy/pasted and did not think of it as nothing.

My thoughts

1. Why didn't stevey come out on the thread? Roles this game are given to any/all players, so if the mafia had killed him, the detective wasn't lost, just a townie and they already know who are the townies. If a mafia member pretended to be the detective we would have known when the person voted out was a townie.
2. I msged Mop it Up and she confirmed the msg sent to bustin, the difference between it and the one on the rules page is/was an oversight on her part. More on this later by host ;)
3. Date stamp faked or copy/pasted. Don't know yet. bustin claimed it's "hard to resend a msg" or something along those lines.

My main concern is with stevey. Is he Mafia and is using Maxi? Are they both Mafia?

Can anyone come out and say "I had the detective role, not stevey"? Can we trust stevey never! :P: :

My 2 cents.

that hurt
