So when the heck does Japan get Mario? I assumed these numbers came in from NSMBW. Japan loves their 2D Mario and 4 player party games, I know it's going to keep selling like crazy.

Man, Final Fantasy is already done with huh?

Launches today (well, actually yesterday, considering it's 4:30 AM tomorrow in Japan).  ;D

Chart Track - Wii Fastest Selling Home Console In UK History
Quote
Nintendo’s Wii has become the fastest-selling home console in the history of the UK, surpassing six million sales after just three years on the market.

According to GfK-ChartTrack upweighted data, the console hit the milestone in week 48 this year – exactly two years and 51 weeks after it went on sale.

The console was given a boost by the launch of the Black Wii in mid-November.

PS2 is still the BEST SELLING Home Console in the UK with 10 Million Sold.

I seriously think Wii can pass up the PS2 in the UK. Anyone know the second best selling console in the UK?

You mean worldwide? 56.14 million as of September 30, which makes it the fourth best selling console all-time (behind the PlayStation 2 at 138 million, the PlayStation at 102.49 million, and the NES at 61.91 million). It's a safe bet that the Wii will move past the NES when Nintendo releases their next financial report (which will cover October-December)

Barely, it's on life-support right now. Yes the PS2 is still "selling" systems, but not enough to make a difference. It's down to about 1.5 million a year.

There was a rumor going around that Logitech was gonna make a UMD drive attachment for the PSPgo. I wonder how much money that would be worth on eBay years from now.

So when the heck does Japan get Mario? I assumed these numbers came in from NSMBW. Japan loves their 2D Mario and 4 player party games, I know it's going to keep selling like crazy.
I expect the game to sell the best in Japan so it might post some crazy numbers.

I wouldn't be so sure, Japan was one of the weakest markets for Super Mario Galaxy.

I know the PSP Go is bombing everywhere (based on the sales we know, although Sony and their typical BS-spin machine is trying to say that sales are what they expected), but CheapyD from CAG had a good point in the CAGcast. He said Japan is not very big on digital sales and that Japanese gamers generally prefer to have physical copies of games. I have to agree with them.  How could anyone think the PSP Go would be anything but mediocre in sales at best? It's $70 more expensive than the regular PSP, has a smaller screen, and is a big FU to existing PSP owners since they have no way to play their current games (unless they want to go through the whole process of ripping the game and transferring it to a Memory Stick Pro Duo). There is no reason for existing PSP owners to buy a PSP Go, and no reason for new PSP owners either (as it would be cheaper for them to buy a current PSP and the much cheaper UMD versions of games).

In case anyone wants to know, the DS game did 480k it's first day.  So right now the Wii version is off to a similar start.

Should be interesting to see the kind of legs the Wii game ends up having.

The stupid thing about the PSPgo is it could have been successful.  They could have made it a relaunched PSP and launched it at $169 to go head to head with the DSi.  It wouldn't have beat the DSi but it wouldn't have been the joke it is now.  They could have increased it's power and made it a true PSP2 which would have given people reason to buy it as opposed to the 3000.  Or they could have gave it a touch screen to go head to head with the ipod touch and more app friendly.  Any one of them would have at least prevented the insta-death that this was.  I own 2 DSs and was looking to get a PSP.  I heard there was a hardware revision so I was waiting, and then I heard the price and immediately bought a 3000 bundle.  No point for the go unless it kills you to have the 3000 and it's what 10% bigger size.

atleast a touchscreen would have made for a PSP1.5 and they could have exclusive go apps and downloadable games that would use the extra functionality.

PSPgo as is, is a pointless revision, as you can do more with the previous version for less money. But I honestly think Sony expected it to fail and was instead using it to test something else.

Sony should add UMD support to the PS3 as well as every computer and optical drive device they make. That way buying UMD movies and other UMD stuff might make some sense.

If Sony had allowed PSP owners to trade-in their UMD games for credits to download the digital versions on the PSP Go, MAYBE I could see it doing a little better than it has. As others have said, the PSP Go offers less features than previous models but costs a lot more.

Anyways, it's predicted that NSMW will break 500K for the week (based on first day sales), only 4 or 5 Wii games have done that in Japan.

Well the only thing about Mario Galaxy is that it is a 3D Mario. One thing i've noticed is that the 2D iterations of Zelda and Mario tend to sell better then their 3D brothers in Japan. And the fact that this is 4 players? It's going to sell like nuts, and keep on selling I bet.
