I didn't bring this topic back up because I didn't know if anyone would care or not, but the manager at Gamestop did indeed hold up to her word and gave me $10 off towards the purchase of FFIV. That was very nice of her. The receipt simply showed "$10 Coupon used" or something to that effect, so everything was successful.
Vudu is mostly right - the 20th Ed. Micro lacks the tool to remove screens. HOWEVER, you *can* pry it off since it is essentially a high quality sticker, and I believe you can also get the tool seperately and remove it yourself, and then replace it with a faceplate. It IS possible, but it's not suggested, and besides it looks beautiful the way it already is.
Vudu: I'm not sure this promotion is still going on, but Toys R Us had a sale on accessories. Included were the Nintendo Sox. While silly, they do function remarkably well as a simple cover to a micro, providing protection without taking up much room or weight. If you were travelling with just it and no accessories or additional games, it works extremely well. If it is still on sale, it would be 2.50 for a pack of three. It's something to think about anyway.
Finally, wanted to mention that Nintendo has confirmed they are not making additional faceplates to buy. Sad, really, and I haven't seen others from third parties. I keep hoping someone will release a make-it-yourself kit, but I doubt that as well since Nintendo seems deadset on essentially phasing out the Micro by the end of this year.
