Star Fox Assault - unlocking Battle City game
« on: March 02, 2005, 04:30:23 PM »
Has anybody figured out how to unlock the classic Battle City game in Star Fox Assault?   There are dozens of websites saying it was going to be one of the three bonus games included but nobody says anything about how to unlock it.  I'm beginning to wonder if Namco changed their minds and took it out...

It was removed from the U.S. version of the game (as was Star Luster)...

Although I am completely unfamiliar with those games it sucks that they removed them.  Why remove them?  To me it seems like removing something would require more work than simply leaving it as is.  It's sad that it's been nearly 20 years since the NES launched in America yet US affiliates of Japan third parties still occasionally treat us like crap.  People wonder why I'm down on American third parties.  It's because American publishers treat us like marks.

Yeah I heard about the removal in IGN's mailbag when I was wavering as to whether or not I was getting it.  The bad news just keeps stacking up against this title.

Perhaps some publishing rights issues?

What the? I loved Battle City. I was hoping for some good ol' tankbusting co-op in self-designed levels too.

It's no excuse though. Battle City was developed by Namco, like Xevious. It's a travesty. On the other hand, Namco is (co-)developing Mario Kart GP. I expect a 'Tales of' game for compensation though (I mean fully localized you bastards). Pronto.

Weirdness. I wonder if it's still hidden within the game, just no way to access it (like those special trophies in SSBM). I guess Action Replay will find out within a month or so.

To my knowledge those two games never came out in the USA for the NES but Xeveious was. Like someone said before me, there might be some liscensing issues that we are unaware of.
