Where's your Mario and Luigi avatar from?  It's cool, yet kind of creepy like the Burger King Mascot .

Anyway, is that Dragonball Title the same game we got here, or is it completly new?  And what is Kuriran?  All I know is that it's a Monk character with 6 dots on his head from the DBZ series .

Anyone think that we'll actually get a new 3D Side scrolling mario for the Wii?  I'm one of the few who dosn't think the 3D Mario games have been as interesting as the 2D versions, despite still being fun games.

Nintendo Gaming / Wii wireless question...
« on: November 23, 2006, 01:26:49 PM »
I hooked up the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector  thingy and it recognises me when the Wii is right next to the machine.
However, it dosn't when it's downstairs near the family room.  Probably no more than 30 ft away.

CAn anyone recomend a good Wireless Broadcaster card that can extend that range and get a full 100% signal?  I'm thinking of going the Dlink route, as the Lynksys one I had did nothing..

Was Altered Beast the one where you smashed coffins that popped up out of the ground, and I beleive had to get an orb that allowed you to transform 3(?) times?

If so, I found it goofily fun, and still have the original game downstairs.  May have to redownload it.
Never did see the arcade version.

Anyone know when DuckHunt will be released?  I havn't played this since I first got my NES, but it was fun.

I also hope the Ninja Turtles games will eventually be released, as well as some Arcade games that are UNCHANGED due to 'rights issues'.

I'd love to see the Simpsons and Real Ghostbusters available for download.  Maybe even a Simpsons sequal game by Konami .

I noticed that too.  Eventually, it got my name changed, and t he blue standing man, turned to a blue running man.  I was afraid someone else had tapped on to my connection and closed it down..

I spent 2 hours of sick time ( thanks to line cold weather), trying to figure this thing out.  Here's my current setup.

LinkySys WRTG54 Version 5 Router.  One USB wireless signal receiver.  One DI604 Dlink Router...

I have a direct line from the street running into the DI604 Router.  Then a ethernet cord is pumped from that, to the Lynksys.  I have the LynkSys  USB thingy hooked up to the Wi, and for the life of me I can't get it to connect.

Any ideas?

Quick report...

Wayne TRU:

Arrived, 10:40PM. Luckilly no dear hit. 40 people in line, 20 intending to get a Wii...
12PM: Same situation, two extra people behind me.

1AM: Mis judged the cold, went inside car for 4 hours.

5AM, waited till 5:30, went back out line. Line now goes beyond TRU to the route road, almost around the building.

8:30AM: Call father, saying I think it would be a good idea if you drove here, we leave one car there, we drive home in my car. Dead tired, cold getting too me with only a sweatshirt on.

8:45 re-inforcments arrive via one parent and winter clothes, ala jacket, glove, and hat . It was only for an hour, but well worth it .

9:50AM: Manager lets people in, (Who I thought was an antsy customer counting people ahead of him to see how far behind he was in line. He obviously didn't need me to tell them they only had 85 units ), I get my Wii after I teach my legs how to walk again. 12 hour experience done in 5 minutes .

Picked up Dragonball and Zelda.

See you in five years )

You know, I'm more glad than ever that Nintendo is low on the radar.  Makes less of a chance that there's going to be violence at these things.  I'm just waiting for someone to make the connection between violent video games, and the PS3 launch .

I could go to the East Hanover TRU, it's easy enough to get to there from here, but the drive back after an 8 hour wait from Wayne is nicer than 287 .

OK, it's final.  Definetly heading out to the Wayne TRU at 11PM tonight.  Anyone know if the lines are forming already?  .

I didn't know there was a real Wally World .  I always thought it was a National Lampoons Vacation invention, just like the Circle K was a Bill and Tedd invention .

The game plan is still up in the air.  I may be in Toms River, or I may  be up here in Wayne.  Anyone know if lines are forming yet at either?

How much of a crowd do you think TRU in NY is going to get, considering there are less than 100 units?  They'll be turning people away all night.....

Thankfully, down in South Jersey, it's usually warmer by the water than it is hear up north by about 7 degrees, and that makes all the difference .

How good is Target at these launch things?

Would I Be better off going to a Best Buy or the TRU if these numbers are acurate?

Just thought it would be fun to post where you're going to be, so you could meet up with fellow PGC members, especially if you're t he only one sitting in line at these things .

I've had a change of plans.  Looks like I'm now going to be at either the Best Buy in Toms River, NJ  or the Toys R Us in Toms River at around 12AM Sunday morning.  If I don't get lucky, it's Best Buy in Paramus Monday at 12AM..  Oh, and look in the mail for 12% off Best  Buy cards!

Post if you're going to be there, and post where your going!

Please don't do the Walmart route.

If their online offer is anything like their instore offer, it's going to cost you a whopping $600's to get a Wii + 8 games...
When I saw that FYE was doing pre-orders, I figured I might still have a chance, but less than 4 systems?

As it is, I am going to try the Wayne TRU, as I mentioned before, first.  Then  I'll check out the K-Mart if I don't luck out.  I remember for the Gamecube, they did no pre-orders that I remembered, but an employee came out and gave us numbers for as many as they had, so we didn't have to sit out all night for nothing.    If they do this for this sunday, and I don't get lucky enough, I'll try the K-Mart across the lot, and if I don't luck out there, it's the Best Buy in Paramus that night.   I do know the number they are getting, but I'm not telling for fear of a bigger line

Nintendo Gaming / Never more excited?
« on: November 07, 2006, 04:09:36 AM »
I don't know about anyone else, but I was kind of ho hum about the DS launch, as I didn't think touch would bring a whole new lot, but it turned out to be a really fun little console, and now I avoid non DS games like the plauge, and hope they drop GBA all together.  So I'm really excited about the Wii launch next weekened.

For those who have gotten to play it, how e asy was it to master without reading the instructions?  I'm thinking of practicing on Wii sports before I dive right into Budoki 2.
Plus, where are all the Star Wars games?  What a perfect excuse to come up with a FX Lightsaber controller .

Finally...this could also become  the best exercise tool for kids in years.  Come up with a cheap, but workable motion sensor suit.  When you move back and forth, the tennis player character does as well.  Use the nunchuck to serve, etc...

Later!

I called my last choice, TRU in Toms River across from the Ocean County Mall.

The guy there also wasn't sure on the details, but he did say they did about 40 pre-orders, and the Nintendo folk made it pretty clear that if you want to get it on launch day, without waiting in line, there's a pretty good chance you will be able to do so.  If not in the first wave, then definetly by Christmas.

He also wasn't sure is the Toms River one was doing a midnight launch, but they did with the XBox 360, so I guess they find these things out at the last minute.

So, what do you think would be the best bet here?  Toms River, with a TRU and Kaybee, plus one other video game store in the mall across the street, or TRU Wayne with a K-Mart, and a possible FYE Sale across the street?

OK, I checked with the K-Mart, and made sure to remember the name of the mall, 'Wayne Hills'.  .

Talked with a nice lady at the Electronics section, but I beleive she didn't really keep up with the Game stuff and was just a standard checkout lady.  She didn't think they did the pre-orders and it was first come, first served, but she did have alot of people asking her about it... So if anyone gets the right employee there, let us know some more concrete stuff.

K-Mart is definetly a nicer looking store, at least, since Sears took over .

Ok, I called again, talked to a very nice lady in I guess the shipping department, and she filled me in on a few things.  They DID have Pre-Orders, and people camped out for two days to get their pre-order in, Saturday and Sunday I beleive she said, wich is really nuts.

She dosn't know about the Midnight Launch, and hasn't heard anything about it....so my bet is that even though Wayne is a pretty decent sized town, it's not big enough with gamers to warrant a midnight launch.  She also didn't know how many units they will be getting, so if you show up on Sunday night and didn't pre- order, you may be out of luck, but she did say even though the Nintendo folk are prizing themselves on the amount of units going out, they did do a small number of pre-orders....so I don't know if that is a good sign or not.

Heya,

Your right, Short Hills is near where I work. For the life of me, I just couldn't think of the name of the mall, and I knew it wasn't willowbrook.  It's the one where they used to have a giant Christmas tree at the entrance on the roof of the store, there's a K-Mart there, and the huge empty store next to it is now getting a fitness center installed.

Yep, I called twice, and asked in store once.  Two times I didn't get an answer, the last time I got the 'First Come, First Served' Answer....so I hope that someone here works there and can better fill us in .  The only Best Buy around here is Paramus, and even though it'll be dead quiet during the middle of the night, I absolutely hate driving in Paramus in the Daytime.  waay to much commotion, especially on the routes.  My only other choice is to head down the Shore, and go to the Toys R Us in Toms River near our shore house..Don't know if there are that many gamers down there during the Winter time, so it may be a shorter wait .

OK everyone, question as I'm starting to get a bit confused..

I remember getting pre-orders for previous Nintendo systems at TRU, but the one in Wayne NJ, over at that little mall(Short Hills?) says that it's first come, first served.  Now I'm reading Toys R Us Stores will be having midnight launches, yet the same article says that Pre-Orders have already taken place at Various TRU Stores across the country...

So, 1)Did anyone get a pre-order at the TRU store in Wayne, and am I out of luck?

2)Does anyone know if Said store will be opening at midnight and selling the system then, or will it be at 7 AM like the Gamecube launch was.  Don't want to get in line at 9PM and find out they don't start selling till 7AM the next morning.

Thanks!
