General Gaming / New Pac-Man on Virtual Console..
« on: June 06, 2007, 03:35:01 PM »
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/05/pac-man-championship-edition-for-xbox-360-is-the-big-news/

I would get a 360 for this alone as a Pac-Man fan....but I would hope that eventually it's going to find it's way onto other consoles..

TalkBack / RE:NOA Release Dates Galore

Didn't I read somewhere Mario Galaxy was supposed to be September?  I don't see it on the list...

Also, why do they release three different versions of the Mega Man game?  Are they ALL different or just some kind of strange rebranding?  Never did get why that was done with the Pokemon games...

BTW, are we ever going to get a new classic mega man series game, rather than this 'Virtual Mega Man' spinoff stuff?  Does not look the least bit interesting...

I haven't played it in ages,  but I remember an extremely annoying screen setup, that if memory serves shifted instead of scrolled each time you went to a new area...

Who wants the nes Pac-Man?  If memory serves, that was a horrible edition.  I'd rather know when they are going to start releasing arcade games on the system.

The gameplay was a bit slower, but Hyperstone Heist wasn't all that bad.  It marked Tatsu in his first and ONLY Videogame appearance.  I think of it as a mesh between the first two arcade games with a few new levels thrown in for good measure .

Well, I hope it's soon.  Along with the forever in limbo Simpsons Arcade Game.

I just threw out my arcade cabinet, but kept the boards of all three.  It wasn't being used, and I was hoping they would get released eventually .

I'm not talking THAT helpful .

Lets say you defeat a boss.  our Shadow friend tells you where to go next.  OK, you're there.  So, now what direction?  Sometimes in the 3D world, especially in rocky areas, I can spend a good ten minutes trying to figure out which way to go.  If you're lasting this long wandering around, an arrow or a path can light up on a more detailed version of the map showing you where to go next.  It would ignore side quest directions unless it's important to the game.

This would also be helpful if you put the game down for months at a time like I do and can't remember where in a dungeon you have to backtrack to, or what have you.  That's one reason why I always try to complete dungeons before saving/turning it off.    As far as games like Metroid, they could have the  above, and something could say, 'There is a life tank in this area somewhere...'  'there is a missile upgrade in this area somewhere..' etc.  This is just my personal opinion, but I think it would give these longer games much more replay value.  Argue away!

I'm waiting for the Wii 2, with more precise movements for games with a sword(Rather than just waving it around)  and full body control movement.  Twist, Dodge, jump, run, etc .

What I would like even better, is a 'cheat' function if you would.  An arrow points you to where you need to go next in a main quest....and as you walk along, it tells you what you need to do, except in puzzle rooms.  That would give games like Zelda tons more replay.

Even the main quest is way too long these days to have time to compelte it .  Like another poster, I had gotten at about 40-50% in the main quest in January. I had not picked it up again until April 9th.  I'm the kind of guy who likes to play one game at a time...  Plus, it's also tough to remember where you left off and what you where in the middle of doing.

Where as in the original Zelda, I can still beat it within a few days if I push it ).

I'm just going to have to give up 'RPG/Action' type games, along the lines of Zelda and Metroid.  I've had Zelda since the Wii was out, and I'm still only about 50% complete.  I'm just around the Zora area and what I think is the last of the 'phantom bug' hunts...

I still love these games, but I just don't have the time to wander around exploring, wondering what I'm missing.  And when I need to use a walkthrough, reading and playing at the same time is no fun at all.  Which is a shame.  The latest Zelda has some cool effects and game play.

These days I'm more into games that you can just pick up and go, and I'm hoping Super Paper Mario is one of 'em, because the demo I saw at a Best Buy made it look cool .

Anyone else in the same boat?

I had a friend from Japan by the name of Takashi Hamada.  So, was Takashi his last name and HAmada  the first?  Ever since I found that out, I wonder if I was calling him by the wrong name...

Anyone remember on how NES and SNES games, the game designers would have names like TLK$300, or Tatsu.com, or something equally strange.

Anyone know why this was the case?  Just the developers goofing around?  Or poor translation?

'Nintendo World report, Sponsored by'..

IT had a top frame logo, and the Nintendoworldreport.com address, but not a single thing on the page was from this site.  This is what I saw just moments ago.

Any idea what it was?

And in the process defeat the purpose of the 'Official CV Mondays' thread?

The original intention was JUST for updates to be posted here.  The main discussion would still be in the other thread.

Thanks for the above link

I'll check out the article at a more reasonable time..and 1AM now ain't it .  I was checking my digital TV Tuner setup earlier and was scanning the HDTV channels, and saw the promo for the story...that's where I first heard it, and thought you guys would be interested .
Not surprising a news agency would misquote or alter something to get people to watch...they're worse than movie trailers that are better than the actual movie .

Oh, if only there where an ignore button on these forums.  Normally I ignore posts like this, but I'm in a rotten mood tonight .

To summarize post -
I mentioned a story I saw on the 10PM Fox News(in this case a SYNDICATED channel, WNYW NY).
I mentioned that at the end of the story, they said there where a bunch of studies that linked voilent video games to violent youth.
I stated that Violent video games don't appeal to me, but I have enjoyed Mortal Kombat and one or two others...

I also added that I don't think there's any truth to those 'studies'.  I played  Lethal Enforcer and it didn't make me want to play vigilante or hold up a bank with that plastic blue gun that came with
the Genesis version....

How much more clear can my 'opinion', as you say, can I get?

Maybe I should have put in this disclaimer before someone jumped down my throat... 'I don't believe in those studies.... the kid is obviously mentally ill or something if he does something violent because of a game'...

Notice also, that IIIIIII didn't say that, it was on the TV station as part of the report.  Thanks for cutting off the first half of the sentence..

will focus on less violent games, because it is destroying the industry and giving it a bad reputation.  The news station followed up that report stating that there are tons of studies showing agressive behavior from aggressive video games.  This was a report on the Wii on Fox 5 NY..

I've never had the urge to play a violent game myself...they never appealed to me.  But I did play a round or two of Mortal Kombat and Lethal Enforcers.  that's as far as I went .

Over on another forum, members have confirmed that the Ninja Turtles arcade game is released intact with original voices and music.  They also saw that it's listed as an Ubi-Soft title.  Can anyone confirm that they now have the rights to the old games as well as for producing new ones?

edit - forgot to add the Wii part... 'This gives me hope that we'll see an unedited release on the Virtual Console as well' .

So does anyone know what we are getting this week?  I hope the original turtles game is on there considering the movie is in three weeks.

No one likes a smart ass .

I only wanted the Wii Sports on there because I use it alot for demonstration purposes, and my Wii is always traveling.  Either to relatives houses, or to friends houses, and I don't always remember to bring everything with me, and this is the one game I use for the demonstration..
