Following a year of speculation, My Nintendo and Miitomo will launch outside of Japan this Thursday.

The communication app quickly rose to the top of the App Store and Google Play rankings for its category upon its Japanese launch. An update is planned for the app to add additional features, but it appears the 1.0 app will launch first.

The My Nintendo launch will bring with it a web version of the eShop that will push games directly to Wii U and 3DS systems. A limited version of the web shop exists for first party titles, but this will expand the options to 3rd party titles as well.

About time. I've been using the web version of the PSN Store for years, and I've wanted an equivalent for Nintendo since the actual device-based stores are so slow & awful. Hopefully this means there's a "Cart" system now so you don't have to purchase & download every item one at a time.

STILL waiting for Flipnote 3D, yeah the game with literally sentences worth of text yet was released in Japan in July 2013. The only explanation at this point is that Nintendo just does not care.

It looks like only digital purchases will earn points with MyNintendo. This is what I expected, and yet still somehow disappointing. This already looks worse than Club Nintendo.

According to the miitomo site ( https://miitomo.com/en/ ) the game launches 1am PST (or 4am EST).

This really saddens me. I am going to have to create a Twitter account just so I can add Nintendo friends to Miitomo (which I DO want to use).
Just so dumb. Why oh why can't we use existing friends lists on Nintendo devices? Me no understand.

Is your phone rooted? Apparently that causes problems. I had to use a workaround for my jailbroken iPhone.

I'm using the stock OS on my OnePlusOne, but judging by the reviews I'm seeing on the Google Play store, that's incompatible with Miitomo.

I am now sitting on 160 "friends", and it's put me at about 1/4 of the way through level 6. We're getting to be a giant circle. Most of my suggested friends have 60 or more mutual friends.

Feel free to go to my profile, you can see the friends listed, just start requesting. Most of them will add you. Though I'm thinking you get the most benefits from having a small group of dedicated friends over a ton of random kids who don't play.

My daughter didn't link any social media account. She friended me in person. Now she has more friends than I do by requesting through the app itself. It's an interesting system.

I currently don't have any Miitomo friends either. I'm working on convincing my brother and a friend to download the app. I refuse to link my Facebook account, and I don't have a Twitter account. I tried to add a coworker, but it wasn't connecting or something. I have no idea why it didn't work. Boo-urns.
