Set to feature gesture based controls, a visual experience that pushes the Wii hardware, and refined gameplay.

Deep Silver, through a feature on IGN, revealed their latest Wii title, Cursed Mountain. The game is a survival horror title and focuses around a particular exploit of a high altitude climber who is on a mission to rescue his brother, another climber, who is lost somewhere on a mountain.

During his rescue attempt, the protagonist encounters an ancient curse. All the people who have died on the mountain had their souls trapped there in limbo, in the Shadow World of Bardo. The course of adventure will bring encounters with villagers, pilgrims, mountaineers, Buddhist monks, ghosts, and demons.

The game will feature both gesture and IR pointing controls, and will be used for things like climbing, balancing, and chasing enemies in the real world. When in Bardo, players will use the IR pointing to sense enemies while praying and then fighting gestures to defeat them.

Additionally, the game will leverage the graphical power of the Wii console. The entire game will be in real-time 3D and the game will "really push the Wii hardware regarding lighting, shaders, geometry, audio, and animation." Though they are pushing the hardware, Deep Six explains that "Cursed Mountain is not about technology, but about the gameplay experience, but many current games really seem to underutilize the [Wii] hardware."

Players looking for an intriguing, "very scary and violent" experience with "ever present danger and very aggressive environments and enemies" can expect Cursed Mountain sometime next year on Wii.

Without RE5 coming to Wii I need to scratch my horror itch and it looks like 3rd parties are really fighting for my dollar. This game and fatal frame makes me happy.
