Led Zeppelin WILL NOT be touring again.
« on: September 26, 2008, 02:36:42 PM »
Quote
Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has reportedly agreed to join the band on a reunion tour. The group - guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham - had resigned themselves to touring without the singer as he had initially been sceptical, but Robert eventually changed his mind when they began auditioning for new singers.

A source said: "The rest of the band had all but given up on Robert joining them, but they were determined to go ahead and had started to seriously explore other avenues... When Robert realised the band were serious about doing it without him, it made him think long and hard."

The band were delighted when Robert eventually relented, and are now set to play a series of dates next summer. The source added: "The band were over the moon when he told them the news. They are now forging ahead with the tour plans and can't wait to get on the road."

Led Zeppelin's reunion tour comes after the huge success of their one-off show at London's O2 Arena in December.

hell yes.  The tickets are bound to be friggin' expensive, but this is great news non-the-less.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get excited about this.

Now, if they could somehow get the 1970s Led Zeppelin to travel through time I'd be all over seeing them perform.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Exactly, they still do it better than anyone else in the business.

They better fucking come to Australia.

this is like the only time a band has broken up because the drummer died in a freak accident. usually if the singer dies then the band is done, except if your ac/dc or black sabbath(ozzie didn't die, but they kicked him out)

it took years for alice in chanes to find someone who sounded like lane stanley.

i think they realized alot of people are good drummers(where ringo?)

I never would have checked them out if they replaced Plant.  I might as well check out a Zeppelin cover band then.  It would be cheaper and about on par.

I probably won't be able to get tickets and they'll probably be expensive as hell but I've got to try anyway.  Yeah I would have loved to see them when John Bonham was still alive but I wasn't, you know, born yet.  It won't be quite the same but it will be as close as I can get and since Led Zeppelin is pretty much my favourite band I know I would regret it if I didn't try.

I just hope they never make new material.  After this long it would never live up to their original work.  It's best that they leave their studio output as it is and not risk tarnishing their legacy.

You guys ever heard of Lez Zeppelin? They're an all-female cover band, and they seem to do a good job. Robert Plant has a high female-like voice anyway, so you hardly notice a difference. :P

Is there any sort of personal reason Plant doesn't want to reunite with the others?  As I understand it, the band only broke up because they didn't want to replace John Bonham.

:( :( :( :( :(

Robert Plant is just a dick. I'm pretty sure his hatred of Jimmy Page was part of the reason he won't reunite.

Nuts.  Though I actually feel a little relieved as now I don't have to go through the stress of trying to get tickets and failing or being indecisive about how much I'm willing to pay.  Them not touring or touring with someone else just makes it easy for me.  Yeah I don't get to see Led Zeppelin live but until about a year ago I had assumed I never could and accepted it.
