Sega Master System Coming to VC

Starting in Feb. Sega will add its Master System to Nintendo Virtual Console in Japan

The 1st two games are gonna be Fist of the North Star & Fantasy Zone (600 & 500 points respectively)

Sega Mk III and GameGear games will also be distributed underneath the Master System VC. The games are also planned to be distributed in US and Europe.

via NeoGAF

I've played MS once, but I've never owned one. But for those of you that have, now that you know its coming, what games are you looking forward to?

The SMS is ok.  I actually had one (a small story in itself) with a handful of games.

There's one called Zillion that is pretty good.  It's basically Impossible Mission on the C64 - you're in an underground lair and must go through lots of rooms gathering weapons and codes to input at video terminals in order to open doors, turn off various security systems, etc.  It's got a nice anime motif and decent music, but I couldn't ever get very far in it, so I'd love to retry it.  There's a sequel that is a pure side scroller adventure sort of game, so it doesn't follow the predecessor's footsteps at all.

I'd take the Alex Kidd games also, since some of them are good.  There's one that starts off like a point-and-click adventure game, but it is ridiculously hard to get past (requires a lot of note-taking to solve various puzzles and quizzes, and you have a limited amount of time to get everything done).

I love Fantasy Zone purely for the music.  Definitely will pick that up when it appears.

There are some others that are good.  We had this discussion at CAG recently - I'll go see what was brought up.
I must find a way to use "burninate" more in my daily speech.

This is the best news ever for me.

I had a SMS back in the day instead of a NES.  It was fantastic.

There really is a great library of games out for that system.  I will be collecting a lot of these games, because it will be one of the few places you can play these games.

Awesome game, have an original copy at home in my game cabinet, as well as Zillion discussed earlier. SMS is a nice little system, glad everyone will have an opportunity to play all of it's great games through the VC.

Games I loved as a kid:

After Burner
Great Baseball
Great Football
Great Hockey  (and I hate sports games)
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Choplifter (oh this game was great)
Ghost House (as a kid this game scared me some)
Hang On
Peguin Land (This game was brilliant and I loved it to death.)
Rastan (I am cheating on this game, because I played it in the arcade)
Safari Hunt (Better than Duck Hunt)
Shinobi (This is my favorite version of the game)
Super Off Road
Space Harrier (Yes Please)
Strider
Wonderboy in Monster Land (This game was awesome and I never beat it...so many secrets)
Montezuma's Revenge (A Pitfall type game, but infinitely better)
Enduro Racer  (I got to like the 4th or 5th race on this game, but couldn't go any further.)

Last there was a brilliant Dinsaur Pinball game, where you rolled up into a ball and tried to save your girl friend.

Master System is still my favorite console ever, this is erection worthy news. It's pretty great that you guys in America will finally (eventually) get some of the fantastic SMS games that never made it over there. Like the proper 8-bit Sonic 2 for starters, instead of that junk Game Gear port which simply hacked half the screen away rather than resizing the sprites, leaving you with leaps of faith everywhere!

Alex Kidd in High Tech World, a side scrolling adventure game (seriously there's no 'action' in it until the very last part of the game).

Dynamite Dux. Good old fashioned beat 'em up, but wi-YES, THAT'S COLONEL SANDERS. =D

Fantasy Zone 2. The first is already confirmed, but the sequel is so much cooler.

Superior Ninja Gaaaiden, this was pretty amazing looking at the time, animation was especially nice.

Pyscho Fox, brutally difficult platformer thanks to the controls, but it was fuuuuun!

Like Sonic 2, the SMS version is Miles (hauhauuhageddit) ahead of the stupid Game Gear version.

Teddy Boy, because you could shoot ninjas and snails that come out of dice. I did a comic of this game last year. =')

WONDERBOY IN MONSTER LAND.

Does my post have enough images? No! Master System demands more.

Alex Kidd in High Tech World is the one I was talking about earlier.

I never made it out of the stupid castle.

I will exact my revenge upon it.

I can swear I remember my brother playing an SMS game once in our childhood, I just can't think of it... something about mechs and going underground... ARGH! WIKIPEDIA! HELP ME!

...

Nope, nothing can't find any hint of such a game.

Look through every SMS game ever made until you find one that matches the description.

Ah yes...the Master System. Even though I had an NES and was a big Nintendo fan I still had a lot of fun with the SMS. Everything from the God awful box art to the generic cartridges brings back a lot of memories.

The games I played/owned were:
The Safari Hunt/Hang On pack in: I wasn't all that fond of Hang On but I LOVED Safari Hunt. It IS better than Duck Hunt, especially with the comical animations (even though it was wasting bullets I loved shooting the bear down and stripping him of his fur :p ) and the variety in levels.

The Alex Kid games: Now this is a Sega character that needs to make a return. I loved the first one, the one with the rock/paper/scissors boss battles and the bicycles. I still have the song stuck in my head! The second one (based on the arcade one), was good. I liked the graphics and the monster design but it was HARD!

Fantasy Zone 2: I remember being in love with the graphics and pretty music

Gangster Town: For some reason, I was freaked out by this game. The music was weird and the face that appears in between levels was creepy. I still enjoyed it, though, and I have memories of my cousin and my sister trying to beat the game.

There were some other games I played but I can't remember then right now.

As you can see, I enjoyed the NES far more than the SMS but it was still a fun little system. I actually welcome this new addition to the VC.

Nope. I'd like to think I'd remember a blasted chickenwalker if I saw one.

UPDATE: NVM. False alarm everyone. I thought that Keith Courage was on SMS. It was Turbografx15 instead...

I haven't played the Master System before what are some good sites about the system and gameplay videos as well?
