General Gaming / RE:Game Arts - where are you?

grandia 2 is one of my top favorite rpgs- mouse is right- the story is a little cliche, but the religious tone in it is excellent- but one other aspect brought me into the game as well- the characters- this game may have some of the most well developed characters in any game period- this is one of the only games i have played in which tears were brought to my eyes- most notably mareg's scene towards the end, fighting melfice, and my favorite and possibly the most touching scene in the game- sky's revelation of ryudo's past to elena- the characters felt real and because of that i didnt care that the story was cliche- oh and it sports one of the best battle systems in any rpg period

on another note- i heard that in the new egm magazine one of the rumors was that game arts was at work at a sequal to grandia- probably a numerical grandia, and not a dungeon crawler like xtreme (which wasnt all that bad by the way)

i guess you didnt like PoP then- i myself loved the game for some of the reasons you hated the game
i thought first and foremost the gameplay was great- it reminded me of one of my personal favorite games on the ps2-ICO- which is in the same vein of PoP- an enviornmental puzzle game- i will say the game was a tad on the easy side- but it was intentional- if there was no time controling in the game it probably would be more difficult since you would have to attempt jumps and puzzles again if you messed up- and i thought the combat in the game was great- sure it was a little repetative but it wasnt that bad- once you found the patterns to the enemies it became easier- and i found that the inclusion of time control was very interesting- you could turn back time if you mistimed a jump, enemies surrounded you, you get hit from behind, and so on- and last of all- i thought the story was great- its nothing to critically praise but it tied everything together and i found it rather good- and the ending to me was satisfying (although a little expected)

also- what glitches do you speak about in the game- i found none when i played- but i have heard there were glitches

i liked resident evil zero a little more than you did i guess- i thought the story was alright- nothing to write home about but it kept me interested nonetheless- and i thought it brought some fresh air into the series- especially with character swapping (very cool- especially for puzzles) and item dropping

all the new information will come soon- the thing is that we must wait until they are allowed to release the info on the game- the new information would probably be on how the game plays, the story, new gameplay enhancements, ect...

killer 7 may be moving to the ps2,  but that does not mean that it will come out on the ps2 first or even at the same time as the gamecube version- the gc version will be out first, and probably time exclusive (like splinter cell on xbox)
personally though- i really want to see this playable version of re4

"Killer 7, one of the Capcom 5, is no longer exclusive to the Gamecube. In a press conference held in U.S. Las Vegas, Hiroyuki the producer and Kobayashi announced Killer 7 for the PlayStation 2. Killer 7 will be revealed at E3 and will still debut this July for the Gamecube."

yeah- in the gba game- 10 minutes in the game goes by in about 5 seconds so it is not based on real time- but it is lots and lots of fun

"W-T-F ? Am I missing something in that article, or is that just spam?"

no- in the article it points out the distance between kyoto and tokyo:

from the article: "an ekiden race from Kyoto to Tokyo, over a distance of 508 km"

this is a really great review- it actually helped me to decide if i am going to buy this game or not (i will buy it definately now)- i always knew the single player wasnt going to be that great, but it is good to hear that it isnt that bad- but once again a great review

they now have the zero mission site up and running with good movies and pictures

see i had an idea for a battle system similar to valkyrie's but not exactly- i thought of a system that could be a combination of chrono trigger and secret of mana- it would be a real time system- but you dont move the characters around- the characters attacks would be on the face buttons of the controller and each character would have a power meter like chrono trigger- but you would not have to wait to fill it up- you could attack any time- but the higher the meter the more attack power- it is not exactly what valkyrie profile is like- but it used the same concept of mapping character actions on the face buttons of the controller

74
see valkyrie profile is the first rpg i played that had character attacks mapped to the face buttons of the controller- you would press x and that character would attack, then square and that character would attack and so on- i had a similar idea- valkyrie's system is a little different than i imagined- i was thinking real time with my system and when you press the button your character would attack- valkyrie is still turn based

"grey fox you were'nt seriuos about eternal darkness were you ? if you were you must have played a different version to me because that game was ok at best altho i only played some of it"

eternal darkness is one of the better games to come out this generation of console games- it made a lot of bold moves and changes to the usual survival horror genra- such as making it more action oriented, a deep magic system, very well written and produced storyline, and of course the sanity effects- those are lots of changes to make- and the game came out near perfect in my view- it is still one of my favorite gc games and favorites of all time
