… of shocking custom number plates.
We've all seen custom numberplates, losers and poofters alike putting their lame nicknames on their car numberplate because obviously a bumpersticker just isn't enough personalisation for these narcisists. Every so often though like say, oh… every second custom plate you see, is a plate so disgusting that you feel compelled to perform a pit manouver, exist your vehicle and assault the wanker behind the wheel of the other car.
The other day I saw this one:

Nintendo Gaming / FireRed/Leaf Green. Anyone have a female character?

Ok right. So as anyself respecting Pokémon fan should know, in the original Pokémon Red / Blue when you went downstairs and watched the television it said four boys were walking on train tracks and that you'd better go too. This is of course, a reference to the all time classic 1987 movie Stand By Me. It's a highly relevent and important reference, because the movie is an amazing coming of age story and a story of the adventure of four young boys. I emphasise boys because it really is a boys film about masculinity and being a man.
Now of course in Fire Red and Leaf Green they retained the reference.
But. I've heard that if you select a female character, the movie displayed is different. I'm just curious as to what film is referenced for female avatars. Is it a female oriented version of Stand by Me?

So yeah. I'm studying Education (Primary or Elementary as you Americans call it) but I'm a pretty broad minded person so I'm taking units (classes) in Computer Science and Environmental Science (Demon-rats and liebrals propoganda am i rite?).
So anyway. Computer Science.
First lab.
We boot up DOS.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?
Confession: I had never used a command line interface before enrolling in this uni. I didn't know my iBook had a Unix kernal tucked away until I had to login to the uni's mother-flippin' Telnet system at the start of lst year. I was born after 1984, I've used Macs exclusively since 1991, I've always supported forward thinking and also the future.
So what is this joke? I'm typing in ambigoues letter commands to run a program that adds up a couple of numbers? Please don't tell me that this is how they teach intro to Computer Science in other parts of the world.

Nintendo Gaming / FEAR Pokémon: they're the greatest ever.

This is an excerp of sorts from the report I'm writing up on the recent Nintendo run Pokémon tournament. It'll be posted in full at pietriots.com when I finish. NWR's new Australian corrospondant Casey Basire DID NOT GO! While that would be excuseable if he lived in say, Darwin, the fact is I stayed at his house the night beforehand.
Round Two Battle - Enter FEAR Phanpy
I promised myself when the tournament was first announced that I would get myself a battle on the big screen and open with a FEAR Pokémon (if you won’t understand the term, bear with me.) Apparently they had been discussed at most of the tours around the country but at the end of the day, nobody yet had the audacity to use the most hilarious, humiliating and reckless tactic in the Pokémon world. I had made myself a level 4 Ratatta who was a good candidate but the day before my friend Dan called me to say he wont be coming to Pokétour, choosing Harry Potter instead. However he said that his sister who wanted to go but found herself stuck in Kalgoorlie had trained up a FEAR Phanpy for the tournament and he asked if I wanted it. I said sure as Phanphy is generally regarded as the ideal FEAR Pokémon, being able to withstand sandstorms. He sent it over and I lolled when I saw it’s nickname was XBOX-360.
The setup for round two was different. If you were one of the 64 contestants left remaining you simply walked up to one of the battle stations with a partner and away you went. The main screen cleared out and some kid eagerly stepped up “We need one more” the attendant announced and I pushed my way through for the second spot. My opponent was one of those dorky 11/12 year old kids who reckons he’s tip top but is in actual fact a total loser, ie. He was perfect for FEAR.
I am trembling with anticipation at this point and busily swapping around my team and items to accomodate XBOX-360 into the party. The kid is getting agitated “yeah sorry just saving now” I innocently reply. The other thing about big screen battles is that one player (in this case me) has the oppurtunity to view his opponents Pokémon prior to battle. The kid understood this and tryed to negoiate looking at my Pokémon in return. I declined and quickly chose my team. Being the good sport I am I looked away and chatted to the small crowd that had formed.
Battle begins.
“Roland sent out XBOX-360” the screen announced. The nervous giggles from the crowd at the sight of the nickname quickly turned into outright laughter when XBOX-360 turned out to be a Phanpy, at level 1.

“Don’t laugh I just caught him” I told the crowd. I did however, over the laughter, hear a few gasps of joy and excitement from the maybe 2 or 3 people watching who knew what was about to happen.
He sent out Gyrados and the crowd was in stitches, even the attendants who Nintendo just hire through local modelling agencies were amused at what appeared to be the biggest missmatch since David and Goliath.
“Are you serious? How did you get to round 2 with a level 1 Pokémon?” the kid asked with a snear.
“Oh I dunno, I have a couple of others”
Gyrados attacked with Hydro Pump, hitting poor Phanpy. The crowd is still laughing their heads off, and the noise was getting louder as other people stopped to look at what the fuss was about. Phanpy’s health bar was plunging downwards and then stopped! “It’s super effective!” the screen proclaimed. In this second or so, the crowd was just gasping in amazement, a Nintendo rep stopped in her tracks, stunned “Woah!” she says. “Hax?” someone watching nervously asks. “XBOX-360 hung on with Focus Sash!” the screen explained to the stunned crowd.
“XBOX-360 used Endeavour” the crowd started up again but this time instead of laughing they were CHEERING! “OH MY GOD MAN” some kid is yelling at me. I have this huge smile on my face, my opponent is totally flabbergasted. Gyrados' HP bar plunges to match mine at 1HP. Facing the crowd, I triumphantly raise two fingers in the air and bring them down again, selecting Ice Shard, an attack that always goes first. “XBOX-360 used Ice Shard” as the screen fills with the blue Ice Shard effect the crowd has gone totally crazy, a couple of guys pretty much mobbed me, wanting to shake my hand and swap high fives. Nintendo reps are telling everyone to get back behind the white line. Everybody is laughing their heads off, even the people in the other battles who had paused to watch. Everybody except my opponent who was absolutely livid in anger, the colour draimed from his face.
The battle still wasn’t over, and at that point I didn’t care if I won or lost, the highlight of the day had just happend. I can’t be botehred going into much detail but his Arcanine was pretty formidable, taking out my Metagross, Crobat came to the party though, U-Turning Arcanine and then hynotising, confusing and U-Turning his shiny (!!!) Luxray for the win. Crobat was pretty lucky when his Thunder missed but the kid should’ve been using Thunderbolt anyway, Lax Incence was a wise choice of hold item.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Press Funeral Awesome Thread

Just got off the phone with Iwata then, I wasn't suposed to do this but I'm so excited. This is what the Nintendo Conference is going to be.
The small media contingent shuffle into the auditorium. As they enter they pass through a hallway lit only by UV light. And Attendant presents them all with their namebadge in this light. Printed in magic ink are their names and organisation. "A cool touch" remarks one to his friend. Matt IGN who overhears, yells "GIMMICK YOU MEAN! TYPICAL NINTENDO S*** LOL!" in reply. Matt then trips over, dropping his steak "F*** this light! Where the f*** is my steak?" Ignoring him, people find their way to their seats, GoHobo is agitated, fiercely gaurding the two empty seats next to him. "F**OFF, I GOT THREE TICKETS!" he prepares to yell but no one wants to endure his stench anyway, so he remains silent.
The stage is dim. The year there are no speakers blaring Nintendo remixes and or pop music, the scene is marked only by it's deafening silence and the pitch darkness broken only by a solitary UV light, illuminating the journalist's nametags alonge with white shirts, shoelaces, bleached hair and the teeth of both journalists who bothered to brush.
A sad song begins to play and in the dim light you can make out 6 men carrying what appears to be a coffin. Light gradually fades in and people's suspicians are confirmed. The giant projector behind the stage is turned on showing a close up view of the ceremony for the benefit of those watching at home and people with bad seats. The pallbearors gently lower the open casket on the stage and silently walk away, the music stops and a camera suspended from the ceiling captures the moment for the projector. It moves over the casket but is too out of focus and the room too dark to make out what is in. Slowly the view zooms in and tightens it's focus the lights are turn brighter, inside the casket is; a PSP.
Before any nervous giggles can start suddenly the projector bursts into life, with voice acted footage from the new Trauma Center game.
"Such a shame"
"Yeah, although I felt he hever really had a hope of making it alive."
*sigh* "What was the time of death"
"Uh, let me check, 11:4-"
"NO"
"wha-"
"IT WAS IWATA TIME!"
FIREWORKS ERUPT FROM THE STAGE the flares hitting the fabric the video was being displayed on, setting it alight. With the aid of the metholated spirits if was doused in before hand it quickly burns away, revealing Reggie with Iwata sitting ON HIS SHOULDERS! Iwata's fists are clenched in defiance as Reggie effortlessly strides forward to center stage with him.
Reggie puts Iwata down and glares at the casket witht he PSP in it. "THIS FUNERAL IS OVER!" He announces. And with that he picks up the casket and THROWS it into an open furnace that was sitting on the side of the stage the whole time without anyone noticing.
"IF YOU LOOK AT YOUR NAMETAGE, YOU WILL NOTICE THAT YOUR NAME IS NO LONGER THERE" Reggie pauses for dramatic effect asthe nerds look at their nametags, not noticing that the UV light had been turned off. "I TOOK THEM" Reggie explains.
It's Iwata's time now. "Now there have been some rumours on the internets, I wourd rike to address them"
"First of arru somebody has been saying that there will be a sequel to Tairues of Symphonia rereased on Wii. Weru I am prouwd to announce tale Tairues of Phantasia wirru be rereased on the Virtuaru Consorue… in Japan" At this shockingly dissapointing announcement, the RPG fan contingent will gasp and run out of the room in tears. Iwata will laugh to himself for about 3 minutes.
"Now that the faggots have reft, I feeru I can continue. Here are some of the games we are making, prease enjoy." On a SECOND projector sheet, behind the original one a trailer reel begins to play with quick clips of all the games we all know about, Phantom Hourglass, Forever Blue, Disaster: Day of Crisis, blah blah blah you know the drill. As the video seemingly begins to wind down, suddenly footage of NEW MAREIO CART (the official name) is shown, causing screams of glea from the crowd. Just as it's getting good a tearing sound is heard, the video is cut short as Reggie RIPS HIS WAY THROUGH THE SECOND PROJECTOR SHEET.
"HAY IWATA IWATA CHECK OUT THIS S*** I JUST FOUND IN THE BIN!"

And FROM HIS POCKET Reggie pulls out the Halo 3 Edition Xbox 360. He quickly proceedes to DROK KICK the machine into the furnace.
Iwata takes over again as Reggie wanders off. "Arso another rumour was that we wourd be bringing back a dead franchise. I got my friend Miyamoto to make this one, so maybe he can come out and tark about it" Miyamoto comes out to a rockstars welcome, sercurity is employed to keep the fanboys restrained, one crowd surfer is dragged out of teh auditorium and beaten.
"Herro, did you arr enjoy my games?"
"Yes yes I am very happy today to say that I make a new game from old franchise. For over 24 months now, Donkey Kong Jungru Beat has been dead. WERR NOT ANYMORE!"
With the flagship, blockbuster game announced, what could be left in the conference? How could it get any better many wondered. Reggie returns to teh stage, this time accompanyed by George Harrison.
"ALLRIGHT LISTEN GEORGIE, I WANT YOU TO EXPLAIN TO ALL THE NAMELESS PEOPLE HERE WHY YOU'VE CHOSEN TO LEAVE NINTENDO"
"Oh well see uh um that als-"
He doesn't finish as Reggie has KICKED HIS ARSE, sending him flying clear of the stage in into the Miyamoto's moshpit of Journos.

Some guy THREW UP like, the vomit, on my ibook. But it still works. I ripped the keyboard off and took it in the shower and that washed the vomit out.

Now that all the members had met in real life, during the tense Street Fighter 2 match between the warring faction's leaders, no one was really that keen to return to the boards. The remaining members all agreed to meetup at the same arcade again. A few members however, Ian amoung them, thought that one shady character in the arcade from the previous day was clearly Ty 'S-U-P-E-R' Shugart the paper bag over his forehead and the way he beat 30 people in a row on the Guilty Gear XX machine obvious clues. Early in the morning they kicked down his door and entered the house. "Hey what goi-" Ty couldn't finish the question copping a punch to the gob. Inside his house they found a computer logged into Ceric's account. There was no time for that though as an knife was produced, cutting the power cord and then the components of the PC thrown out the window.
With one of the staffers out of the way, everyone met up at the arcade again, hoping to corner at least one of the staffers and make him back down. What followed wasn't what anyone expeted at all.
For a start I managed to come this time, Billy had hit the grog pretty hard the previous night and was hung over so I agreed to drive him down. The manager at the arcade wasn't happy with me being there but I signed an agreement that I wouldn't play any of the games so he allowed me entrance.
MysticGohan began to get some attention when he came dressed as a Maoist rebel and began talking about the need for his people's independance. The real animecyberrat was unhappy with wandering attracting so much atention, worried that people might reconise him as the real wandering, thus blowing his ingenious cover. Two of the people paying the most attention to this crazed maniac were NWR staffers Michael Cole and Stan Ferguson who had been imitating Infernal Monkey and WindyMan respectively. They started yelling at him and poking him. "THAT'S IT! I WONT TAKE THIS PERSECUTION FROM YOU SRI LANKIS ANYMORE!!" he suddenly yelled, and with that he suddenly blew up the bomb jacket strapped to his chest.
Confusion and carnage unfolded. The roof of the arcade collapsed in the explosion, which killed WindyMan, meanwhile Michael Cole, trapped and crushed under rubble moved his one free hand and the revolver within it towards the real Infernal Monkey, who had been impersonating Stevey "IHATEYOUYOUFUCKENARSEHOLE he screemed, shooting Infernal/stevey dead. With that more rubble fell, killing Michael Cole, the new ringleader of NWR. They weren't the only ones dead though, IceCold, who'd been posing as Athrun Zala thought the drunk Billy Berghammer was responsible for the explosion. "GUNNA GET YOU!" He produced a knife and stabbed Billy, who'd been pretending to be Artimus, in the chest.I was not too concerned as now I could save money on buying human food but IceCold was in a state. "What have I done!" and with that he proceded to stab himself.
As everyone lay there dying, us survivors began to leave. Crimm tripped over me. "Hur hur dum cat lol." I had enough of this so I just clawed that twat in the face.
Everyone went home and logged in. Whoever was trying to log in as S-U-P-E-R couldn't though. "You do not have permission to access this page" the screen read. Someone had banned him...

If things wern't crazy already, they were after the 6th day. Posters under the false identiies of Spak-Spang and Kairon engaged in a major flame war. "There's only one way to settle this!" yelled Spak "If you really are S-U-P-E-R as you claim, we must battle at Street Fighter 2!" The time was set and everyone went down to the nearest arcade for the great match. Of course it wasn't really Spak-Spang and Kairon, instead it was 18 Days and Steven Rodriguez who approached the machine. "Isn't S-U-P-E-R meant to be in Japan? A least I was honest about who I really was" 18 Days said. "WTF! Arn't you meant to be a girl?" snapped Steven, "didn't we ban you from my forum ages ago?"
During all this, Ian was crapping on to anyone within hearing range
"JUST PLAY THE BLOODY GAME!" Yelled someone from the back, worried that any further delays would keep Ian talking. And with that it was on. A close match ensured so I heard. I wasn't there of course, apparently cat's are banned from the arcard because we win at DDR too much. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah the match, 'pparently Kairon/Steven lost won the first round but Spak/18 won the second. The final round was a whitewash though, with E. Honda managing to corner Ken and utterly pummel him with punches. 18 Days had won! "YES! IN YOUR FACE LOSER! Wher'es you journalistic integrity now? Why not go back to copy pasting press releases!" he yelled at his opponent. Steven was in tears and pushed through the crowd where he was immediately hit by a bus. Fortunately an ambulance was nearby and he was taken to hospital.
At this hilarious scene the crowd began to disperse. But 18 Days wasn't finished. "HEY YOU!" he yelled at a random crowd member "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT KHUSHRENADA WAS CHARGED AS A TERRORIST!" and 18 Day's lunged on the man, knocking him down where 18 Days proceded to beat the piss outof him. Hero of justice and all round bad dude, IceCold wasn't going to see this lying down and slammed a fire hydrant over 18 Days' head, knocking him out cold.
The paramedics picked up the two crumpled bodies and took them to the hospital with Rodriguez. Due to the lack of internet in the hospitals, none of the three, the last remaining member turning out to be TheYoungestPlumber were seen on the boards again.
Kairon, NWR Godfather was voted out.
TYP was killed by Funhouse Pietriots
Spak Spang, Funhouse Godmother was killed by the vigilante
NWR Staff are now the only remaining mob and they will kill and investigate EVERY NIGHT.
The assasin assigned to the 18 Days kill is now a regular townie.
Welcome to the second act.
Day ends in 24 hours.
