I really don't understand when people say this. They are doing fine now but what about later;  if anything the gaming industry isn't leaning towards Nintendo. Honestly the only thing IMO is holding Nintendo afloat is the Game Boy and that could change with Sony realease of the PSP. If Sony can market this thing in any way like the PS, things won't be looking so good for Nintendo. Well that off topic...I believe.

I doubt this; if this was a world of just Nintendo fans then this would be feasible but since we live in reality...you get the picture.  Since this market is now more so than ever ruled by third parties, whoever provides the best enviroment for third parties will win. The console maker who is 100% focused on its games won't win anything (except for awards) in todays market otherwise Nintendo would have came out swinging and spouting out catchy one-liners.

What has Nintendo done exactly that so innovative this generation? If anything Sony and Microsoft seem to be trying to bring something to console gaming, most of Nintendo's effort have gone towards thier handheld.

I kinda agree with this, NIN are not seen as the "it" thing anymore. That probably the reason why most the gaming media seem to put as little ethusiam (sp?) behind them.  NIN is like VHS, it still there but does it really compare to DVD (Sony or MS)...

I just got the book today. Very interesting read from what I gathered the GI guys really like the control. They said even though it felt the same but not as clumsy as the past installment.

All I can say is...WOW! I haven't bothered to actually keep up with this game but after seeing it I probably get the game (most likely not because video games in general sorta bore me)

Would I LIKE to come up with something better?  Sure would.  That would be cool.  Can I come up with something better?  Probably not but it would at the very least be different from anything Miyamoto makes.  True he doesn't really make games on his own anymore but he's basically just training more of him which kind of hurts the variety of Nintendo's lineup a little.  Train ONE guy to be another Miyamoto and let the other guys define themselves.  Otherwise it's just to much of the same thing.

Of course that point would be moot if Intelligent Systems would make some f*cking Cube games.  "Duh, we don't know how to use 3D" is NOT a valid excuse in 2004.

Thank You Ian, this is what Im trying to say. Nintendo obviously has more talent than just Miyamoto, but its seems like they refuse to use it. Personally Nintendo doesn't have variety anymore, their style is completely Miyamoto rather than Mr. A or Mr. B or even Mr. C. They are completely defined by Miyamoto, and thats probably why people moan about so an so game not looking good or plays like this other game or whatever, because they see Miyamoto as gospel. All his games must be the definitive object that describes gaming otherwise it can't be the truth. SO there would lie disappointment in his work when you expect this and you get that and don't say you shouldn't expect at all because that is just BS. Afterall Nintendo/Miyamoto knows what we want.

Miyamoto himself embraces this- you do realize that Ocarina of Time was the last Zelda game he directed, right? He's taken a much more reserved role, offering input on projects headed by other people rather than making the games himself. He is, essentially, training a new generation of game designers.

What projects are you talkin about...like the new Zelda, Mario, or anything else the was originally a Miyamoto idea. C'mon man, he may not be that active but he seem to have and iron fist on things. Is he training these guys to be more like him or to be great game designer...but we won't know because they probably continue make "the Miyamoto series" of games. These new gen. of game designers may have thier own great ideas right now but they are probably content on making the new Zelda or Mario because its a great Miyamoto game ( Which I understand. Hey, its Miyamoto for God's sake). Maybe these new guys or whatever might have the new thing that Nintendo can add to thier roster.

Hey, I don't have anything set in my mind when Miyamoto says anything, but you can only assume that its going to be great when the idea can't be shown because people will steal it, otherwise what the point in hiding it. I've always taken a wait and see approach, because I really don't listen to hype thats seems to overshadow anything that has worth.

Im just saying I think he (Miyamoto) is to hyped-up, we all know he makes great games (not all the time though) but he seems to be the life of Nintendo. There are more people at Nintendo beside this one man that can make a great game.

Im quite tired of Shigeru Miyamoto, isn't there other kinds of producers at Nintendo. He is always saying something like how he going to change gaming but it ends up being something we've played before with slight improvements. Where are the other guys like Mr. Itoi or the guy who does Kirby (nevermind...he left, that sucks). Im just saying why does Nintendo rely so heavily on this one man for game ideas.

I have PS2....I really don't like that system all to much either. Maybe I just don't like this generation of games, the most of them just don't spark my intrest. But my DC seems to get the most play though....why did you have to die? WHY!

Bill was being sarcastic...NO?

If you think most Nintendo produced games suck you either bought the wrong console or you're a troll.

I have to agree with Ian- you've got to be pretty stupid to buy a Gamecube knowing you hate Nintendo games.

Well I guess you're right , I certainly do believe I've bought the wrong system. At first I wanted the GC, thought it was going to be great. C'mon its Nintendo...Ive been a fan since the good old NES days, how could they go wrong? Well the answer is the Gamecube...it not all that great IMO. I probably would have been better off getting an X-Box....but that just crazy talk. Honestly I don't find that Nintendo is really taken advantage of GC.

Yeah! I have no idea of what a good game is either!!! DOA: Xtreme Volleyball and Halo for me!

Your kidding me right...

Agreed, SMS was one of the most un-fun games I played. It's the opposite of fun. Well, at least after a few hours of playing

I completely agree with this one. This game has to be the worst Mario game I've ever played, everything about the game is just boring.

Anyway, I think most of the Nintendo produced games suck.

I just HAD to point this out, since I can't believe Johnny missed it- the simple fact that Sega made an F-Zero game, both for the arcade and Gamecube, and the fact that Konami is letting Silicon Knights, a Nintendo 2nd party, remake one of its best games ever, is reason enough to believe that Nintendo has very good relations with both these companies and will get some great support from them in the future.

I have a problem with this. If Konami had such a great relationship with Nintendo why wouldn't they make the Twin Snake game themselves? What is the point of obtaining a second party that has thier own agenda for trying to make excellent games just to take it away to say work on this game because this would improve relationships between the two. WTF! SK could be working on thier own thing rather wasting time making a remake of a game that Konami should be handling themselves. Just like Sega making F-Zero (good game by the way) what was the point? Sega really didn't do anything more to the series except update it to the GC....Nintendo could of done that. Sega should have doing original content. Oh even though Sega games haven't been selling all to well on X-Box, atleast they have been getting far more original content (which makes no sense). IMO Nintendo third-parties have been utter crap; the major companies...not so much with Capcom...have been almost worthless.

I would have to go with the X-Box. The controller (the S controller) is so great for the game, kinda reminds of the Dreamcast controller (which I love). Since I don't care for any of the extra characters for any of the system its not a deciding factor.

I think Nintendo shouldn't put their recourses on some sports Franchises; that would take alot of R&D time away from other innovative games.

Honestly what has Nintendo really done that has been innovative this time around? Connectivity? Its already has been done an Nintendo efforts fall extremely short in justifying why they should even consider still using this gimmicky approach. Unless you think connectivity is what everyone is craving to get thier hand on. Now on to the E-reader...pointless, but somehow its suppose to be innovative ( I guess it is because it comes from Nintendo). Where was the actual "research" in this item, it just seems like they developed them for no actual use but can brag about how the have it an others don't. Oh...the games...can you tell me where is the innovation in Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Sunshine, and so on. Like someone has mentioned once before about Nintendo sequels (if you want to call them that) they seem to border  mere rehashes. Nintendo does it way too often, Im suprise we haven't notice it sooner...really what game on the GC that has felt like it actually deserve to have 2 or whatever number beside its name. R&D at Nintendo seem to be lacking, they are not making innovative games, but they are making fun games and that what I believe that what thier all about. Just my opinion though.

Oh...the topic. I basically agree with it except for lthe 3rd-party support ( should recieve a D-) and the Public Image (F sound about right).

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Is nintendo losing its touch????
« on: November 23, 2003, 07:11:53 PM »
Personally I think "The Big N" has lost their touch...just stating my opinion. Well in this generation it seems that Nintendo is not really offering anything that they haven't done before except for a few games. Nothing has really excited me in the longest which is disappointing esp. from Nintendo, its seems like the third parties are doing all the interesting stuff. You might not think so but I don't care.

Anyway, this "gameplay over graphics" is so stupid in my opinion. I see it like this...what is the point of making a new system that is capable of offering the graphics, the gameplay, and more but you just continue to focus on "better gameplay". That is just BS, why can't we have "gameplay and the graphics". Is there a problem in doing a game that has outstanding graphics and outstanding gameplay without dilluting the other, is it that hard? Isn't that the point of making a new system that can easily offer both  gameplay and graphics to the consumer.

I must be the only one who completely hates FFVII. Everything about the game just...sucks; the gamplay, the characters (sephiroth...what a joke) and esp. the music (except for the desert prison). I just don't see why everyone like the game. But oddly enough I like all the other FF games.

Given that the Xbox has the weakest controller, I would say that the PS2 or GCN version would simply own the Xbox version.

Ha! Xbox the weakest; well it matters...the fat one or the small one. Personally I think the X-box controller (the small one) is far superior to either the PS2 or GC (eps. Gamecube...OH GOD I HATE THAT CONTROLLER!). Anyway the arcade beats them all.

What hell was Nintendo thinking when they made this controller...

General Gaming / RE:ATI and Microsoft

Like most companies do when it comes down to hyping a new product is to throw out  specs....so if Nintendo or MS have anything similiar they will go back to the drawing board to keep the others on thier toes. So in the end money will start to become the issue.

General Gaming / RE:ATI and Microsoft
« on: August 14, 2003, 04:34:45 PM »
It will probably come down to who is dishing out the most cash...I really don't see Nintendo winning that race. That only way I can see this the better chip goes to the company who is willing to spend the money to get that "extra" something.

23
Nintendo Gaming / RE:ATI making chip for Xbox2! What about Nintendo?
« on: August 14, 2003, 04:25:57 PM »
I would't doubt it if Microsoft has the better graphical chip out of this relationship. Since they helping to develop the chip along side ATI alot of money will be thrown around. I wonder what what Nintendo will try to do? Hmm....probably nothing.

Nintendo Gaming / Why I'm happy owning only GameCube...
« on: July 16, 2003, 10:33:31 AM »
Oddly enough I completely agree with Cubedcanuck (sp?)...

There are a bunch of games for both the PS2 and XBox worth owning, and besides there wouldn't be a point saying that your looking for another console to provide more gaming experiences when your so satisfied with the Gamecube.

Me personally wish I didn't bother buying a Gamecube or a PS2, they both seem to have games that just don't keep my attention. So when the next gen comes through, there better be something very interesting that happening.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Kart Discussion (TALK ABOUT MARIO KART HERE)
« on: April 24, 2003, 08:54:04 PM »
I can't help it but I have to complain about the graphics. Its just that they are quite bland and quite muddy looking, well in the texture department (nothing speaks hi-res in thos pics). I know what you guys are going to say, "Its not about graphics its all about the gameplay blah blah blah and such in such...". I don't care.

There is no doubt the gameplay is going to be there, cause if you think that Nintendo will all of a sudden forget about gameplay when graphics are put first...you should be shot where you stand.

Now with that being said; the problem that I have, Ninetendo should be able to combine the two rather than try to use this "we are focusing on gameplay rather graphics attitude". Like someone pointed out, look a SSB:M that game still impresses me to this very day...

Hey, look at F-Zero that game looks amazing...while moving at 60 fps with 30 cars on screen.

Why can't Nintendo just combine the two together...gameplay (its guaranteed, no complaints here) and graphics (something Nintendo needs to work on, everyone else seems to have a grasp on this)...

Wasn't this the reason the GC was built to do...bring gameplay and great graphics into one home.
