The sad truth is because third parties have had this attitude so long maybe the PS3 and X360 are where gamers that play Call of Duty now are. The situation with the Wii has been around long enough that those gamers are going to flock to the other consoles. Why get a Wii if the third parties are just going to screw you around?
Well, it looks like we have the next catch-22 dragon that Nintendo needs to slay. Nintendo has somehow managed to pull off one miracle with making the Wii make all third parties take notice, taking the lead in console exclusive games, zooming ahead in number of titles, capturing most of the market, and pulling in monster revenue.
The Wii did all that, but there's still more to be done. Now Nintendo needs to see if they can create a situation where they can preserve all this momentum, but give the Wii2 equal footing on which to stand amongst specific areas of traditional gaming.
It's a self-fulfilling prophecy YET AGAIN. Being a Nintendo fan is just getting hosed by catch-22 situations again and again.
It seems to be our lot in life. T_T
Guitar Hero is an exception where they haven't screwed over the Wii (well not as much) and thus has earned good sales. Don't treat us like second class citizens and we buy your game. What a concept!
Ian, it's ironic that you point at Guitar Hero.
Guitar Hero 3 lacked DLC. It had MONO SOUND.
Wii gamers bought it anyways. THAT is how you get third parties to stand up, take notice, give us support, and BREAK the vicious cycle. You list Guitar Hero World Tour IV as your Wii game of the year. For that you have to thank the countless masses of people who bought Guitar Hero 3 DESPITE it having a slew of faults compared to the other versions. You complain about catch-22's, but you're content to reap the rewards when other people do what it takes to improve the situations on Nintendo consoles. Our "misguided" Guitar Hero 3 support made your Guitar Hero IV quality possible Ian.
