The US should have a bundle like those. It probably wouldn't have NSMBU in it, but I can see a Wii Fit U bundle being a hit.

Well according to this leak, it looks like America and Europe will be getting a Wii U bundle with NSMB U and Luigi U this November.

The question for me is will these bundles stay at $300 for the deluxe or cost more. They should stay at $300 and thrown in another extra like a Wiimote+ and classic controller. I'm sure they have a decent number of the old Wii classic controllers they could pack those in for free to sweeten the deal.

If that NSMB bundle happens then I would imagine that it would still be $300 since it doesn't include Nintendo Land. A Wii Fit U bundle like what I think should happen would be a bit trickier, though, as the game without the board is $20. If they don't include the board with the bundle then they would have to include something else in the box (Wii Party U is a good choice), but if they do include the board they may want to charge more than $300.

Damn both the Vita and the WII U have tanked the last couple of weeks.  Sony had so much going for the Vita and yet it all went to hell in a couple of years.  Doubt another price cut is going help anything, might as well wave the white flag and bend over.

Wind Waker is a re-release and I think it is kind of silly to expect such a title to move consoles, particularly when the original version is playable on the Wii.  You don't need a Wii U to play Wind Waker.  I think re-releases are more effective in padding a release schedule, to get some impulse buys out of the converted.  Did Nintendo expect EarthBound to sell Wii U's because that's a re-release of a game that is much harder to find an original copy of and required hardware that had been out of print for like 15 years?  There is a greater justification for buying a new system for it.  However you can buy a console that plays Wind Waker in stores right now in the Wii.  Used Wind Waker copies are also neither rare or expensive.  Wind Waker HD costs more money than an old copy, compared to the Wii U version of EarthBound which is peanuts compared to the very expensive SNES version.

But one game is a virtual console title and the other is a retail title being given the marketing push that a brand new title would receive so there are expectations for one and not the other.  Realistically they should be seen as comparable - a side salad but not the main course.
FYI Ian, new Wiis do not include the ability to play Gamecube games.  So no, you cannot buy a Wii off the shelf and be able to play Wind Waker.  The only way to do that is to buy a used one. :)

There are reports saying that Wind Waker HD has boosted Wii U sales by 685%. I assume that means they sold 137 consoles as opposed to 20 last week.

With the price discount and Zelda bundles the WII U sold decent last week.  Ended up getting the basic WII U unit myself (2nd hand for $180) and another Black/Nintendoland (new for $210 after employee discount and markdown (store return unopened).

Pokémon is selling like mad in Japan, freaking selling out in most retailers within the first few hours of availability and some stores didn't even have enough units to cover pre-orders?  Not sure what Nintendo was doing, but it sounds like the game undershipped which could be intentionally on Big N part to increase E-shop sales for the game?

The pre-order numbers in the states had Pokémon at 1/2 million mark, which reminds me I never finished an single Pokémon to date :( .

-------------
The Vita continues to sell poorly even with the new models coming out.  Had some pics of the "wait" line for the Vita 2000 but it was like 4-10 people in most lines.  Depressing.

That was at my local Target using a friends ID and CC info (10%off).  Basically the Black WII U was an "online return" item so it was marked down 30%.  I was just in the right place at the right time :0 usually I only see returned xbox 360's or ps3 this was the first time I seen an WII U and it was the only one.

The Black WII U is going to a friends kid, he asked me to buy one cheap for him.

But yeah, if you see an sticker that states "online return" at target there's usually an discount of some amount.

This was pretty much expected. Also, Pokemon X/Y has sold 4 million copies worldwide. GTAV debuts with 360k on the PS3 and 26k on the 360. The Playstation Vita receives a bump in sales with the release of the 2000 series model and it should easily clear 2 million units sold by the end of the year.

September NPD:

Here's the top ten selling software products for September:

    1. Grand Theft Auto 5 (360, PS3)
    2. Madden NFL 25 (360, PS3)
    3. NBA 2k14 (360, PS3, PC)
    4. Diablo 3 (360, PS3, PC)**
    5. FIFA 14 (360, PS3, Vita)
    6. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix (PS3)
    7. Disney Infinity (360, Wii, PS3, Wii U, 3DS)
    8. NHL 14 (360, PS3)
    9. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (360)
    10. Saints Row 4 (360, PS3, PC)

Suprised to see the Diablo 3 year and half old port debut so high, but so did the HD version of Kingdom Hearts. Never under-estimate gamers desire to only buy things they are familar with.

Disney Infinity was reportedly insanely expensive to develop and got a lot of push for only #7, but I expect it to have a long tail.

Inferior version Minecraft is still hanging on. Undoubtedly one the games of the generation.

Indeed, which is why Nintendo's franchises have hung around for so long.  ::)

I'm disappointed (but not surprised) to see that Killzone Mercenary and Puppeteer couldn't escape the economic singularity that is GTA 5 KIRBY'S EPIC YARN.  They're both excellent games that were just out at the wrong time with next to no marketing from Sony, as usual. I'm likewise not surprised to see that Wonderful 101 bombed in NA just as it did in Japan, nor do I feel that it was undeserved.

The original Kingdom Hearts is not a good game, but the 1.5 HD Collection is a good deal if you want to get in on the franchise at the ground level in preparation for the upcoming 2.5 HD Collection with the 2 best games in the series (KH2 and Birth By Sleep) and KH 3 (whenever it releases 4-5 years down the road).

According to september NPD thread on NeoGAF

Rayman sold about 70k with Wii U (again) being dominant version making for 55% of purchases.

TW101 sold pitifully 20k but even then it managed to outsell Rayman ports for 360 and PS3.

Combined.

...

"Well done", Ubisoft.

And no matter what, well done, Kamiya, for making one of the best games ever.

Ubisoft really shot themselves in the foot with that one. I just wonder how the delay affected sales of the Wii U version.

I bet they could have made a 100k sales by now if Rayman had launched on the Wii U in February.

I'm betting that Deus Ex and probably Watch Dogs are going to suffer in the same way.

According to NPD, Wii U sales tripled in September compared to August - and that's with the price cut only being active for half of the month. Nintendo should have cut the price a year ago...when it launched...and then cut it again last month. You simply cannot compete with a console that is going to get way more 3rd party titles, is miles ahead in power, and only retails for $50 more. They finally realized that, but they should have figured it out long ago.
