Welcome to the HD generation my friend. Can't expect all those AAA games to have AAA sales! (and be good at the same time)

You guys wanna hear something real funny?

PSP Top game in November NPD was Little Big Planet which listed at #107 with 42,000 in sales.  LOL

And so much for the PSPgo having any sort of positive effect on the PSP brand anywhere in the world. That's also what makes this next comic so damn funny.

There is a article on Industry Gamers where they actually think that the prices of PSP download games is what's causing the PSP Go to tank everywhere in the world. While PSP digital games are vastly over-priced (for example, "Beaterator" is little more than a music tool. It's not even a game, but it costs $40), they are not at all the problem. The PSP Go is $70 more than the next most expensive PSP model, but is vastly inferior. No one can deny that the PSP Go has been a flop.

So far it seems Mario is selling better than MW everywhere but the US? Well on an individual console basis that is.
Nintendo players and One Piece readers, just better people.

But Reggie's bet is for US sales.

Unless you meant for Activision to win Reggie's bet.
There seems to be a pretty widespread NSMBW shortage in the US right now.
Most retailers seem to be low in/out of stock in lots of places. Instore and online.

I still think that's one of the worst game names ever.

But Reggie's bet is for US sales.

Unless you meant for Activision to win Reggie's bet.
There seems to be a pretty widespread NSMBW shortage in the US right now.
Most retailers seem to be low in/out of stock in lots of places. Instore and online.
I expect the sales will balloon around new years. It will be like NSMBDS: long term sales will beat everything.

Unfortunately the bet ends when NPD January is posted.
NSMBW has to outsell MW2[360] by the time NPD January is out.

NSMBW needs to sell 2 million this month and 2 million more next month, and that is assuming a MW2 takes a HUGE drop this month and dries up next month.

But surely Reggie wouldn't have made a bet without being aware of the supply situation. If there are shortages then this must be going at least as good as Reggie predicted, if not even better. It really couldn't be selling any faster because there isn't enough supply to keep up with the demand...

Its kinda like the Wii shortage all over again. I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but maybe Nintendo has been creating and milking these shortages somehow?
is your sanity...

If I'm not mistaken, Reggie was kind of strong armed into the bet by the interviewer. His choice was either go with the bet, or lose face and say that it wouldn't outsell it.

The conditions of the bet, and choice that it would be the 360 version, were done by the interviewer. Reggie takes fault for agreeing, but given the circumstance I don't think it's too absurd to assume things like shortages and what not could effect what was a casual agreement on his part. He didn't come to the table with these things thought out long term or a more calculated approach to feasibility.

But yeah, he will be proven wrong in the end for sure.

Huh, yeah, put it like that, I can see why he went ahead and accepted it. Though the January end date is horrendously soon. Those are conditions that undercut a real strength of Nintendo games: longevity.

Could New Super Mario Brothers Wii become the best-selling Mario game in Japan?

How many units did the NES sell again?
